Just got paid; it's Friday night
Party hunting, the bass is right
Booty shaking all around
Poured my drink, now I'm getting down

My son got his first paycheck today at the age of 14 . He is working with Summer Youth here in NYC. I played this song for him this morning as I watch him check his acct for his money . With the biggest grin on his face he danced to this song. I’m so happy for my baby 🥺
Happy for him, nothing better than getting your first pay check, but did he ask you "who is FICA and why is he taking my money"> 😆
Congratulations! To you both! This song always gets me moving on a pay day or any day for that matter
@@mchlmancilla hahahaha that’s too funny 😂

Lol, I used to dance to this song when I got paid in the early 90s. It makes you feel you really accomplished something. Congrats to your son. 💃
If they dropped this on radio today, 2023, without an intro, most people would think it was new. They’d never believe how old this is. It would track still.

This was my moms favorite song even if she didn't get paid on Fridays. RIP momma I would give anything to see you brake it down to this song again. 6/30/21: First I need to sincerely apologize to those that have sent out prayers and love to my mother and have received no reply. (Trying not to cry right now ) From thug pizzle to Tracey Trunn nothing that I type next will ever convey my deepest and sincere feeling of how I feel when I see that someone took time out of their lives to show love to a woman that they never met. After some time reading the comments something click and I realized that I lost the one person in my world that I could trust. And not taking the time out to mourn the lost it all came down on me way to fast for me to handle. Depression is something that I'm learning not to take lightly and to have patience dealing with it. Again I am sorry for the no reply but will try my best now that I've taken some time to actually say goodbye to my mother. She always taught use to be grateful when someone goes out of their way for you.
Thank you all for ever word that you've sent.

I just watched an interview with Teddy Riley. He's said Keith Sweat is really gutted he didn't get this track for his album. As much as I love Sweat, Kemp's vocal range on this track is what made this track for Kemp. Love this track
Naz B Wrong, Keith help write and produce the song. It was too late for it to go on his Make It Last Forever album so he (Keith) told Johnny he should record it. Gene (who ended up screwing Teddy over) had Keith Sweats name removes from the song until Keith and a goon pressed him. Needless to say Keith got the credit and is still getting money off the song. That’s how lies and rumors get started

I actually like this jam. Why can't music be so simple anymore?!
what are you talking about? this is overproduced crap. overproduced crap is more popular than ever. everyone imitated MJ back then. nowadays they steal from.. idk, Future? its all crap and always has been
@@johnbear9205 1 man's opinion. 35 years later, you could play this song in ANY country and folks would instantly recognize it and couldn't help by jam. Growing up hanging in NYC and Wash DC back in the 80's & 90's this shit was a banger on Fridays at the local spots. At Howard Univ. - my alum, we would throw parties blasting this and all the now cult rap classics... Believe me, we had mad musical talent flow through that mecca.
In the 90's - 2000's in NYC my boys and I would throw impromptu back-yard BBQs that would turn into shut-down block parties with young-bucks crashing all the way from the Bronx to hang hard. What's crazy is many of my peeps were part of the imagineers in the 80's music video days when production budgets were crazy tight, and equipment was like 1800's technology compared to now - yet still they created some magical sets that are now legendary.
Yeah sure you can say over-produced, but on AVERAGE the b/s music produced today couldn't last the end of a set, before it becomes completely forgettable...
Everything actually IS simple these days. Simple and pornographic
@@johnbear9205MJ was not the first Artist to adopt this sound. He was late to the New Jack Swing. You can’t call this crap, it was groundbreaking for its time. Notice the song is considered a classic, there is a reason for that
