99% of videos with a title like this are clickbait but this is legitimately the craziest cooler ive ever seen lmao quads vs fh on the flop is like something I have nightmares about
Galfond genuinely seems like the nicest, most laid back, realest dude in the game. No real ego, no pretentiousness, no BS. Sure, guys like Jungleman are probably more entertaining to watch or listen to (something you know Phil would immediately agree with), but the older you get, the less intriguing that type of personality becomes. I mean can you imagine living in an apartment complex where every tenant was Phil Galfond? It would be the quietest, most well maintained, most respectful complex ever. And of course every neighbor would be the nicest neighbor you’d ever had… cause they were Phil Galfond. All of them. Man, what a dream living situation. Sorry, I’ve obviously had some shitty apartment experiences over the years. Anyway, love ya Phil. Keep up the great work! 👍👊✌️
I do remember watching that tournament and I was stupefied by that hand! The flop and river play was quite something! Thanks for bringing back memories.
ofc there is, did you even watch the video? Click/levelling wars were a thing back then so if you're going to be raising with bluffs a lot then you have to also do it with strong hands to maximise the value out of them. Getting into raising wars with trash and then slow playing your nuts is a recipe to not only get exploited super hard by any competent player but also just costing yourself money either way. Now sure he has all his AQ/KQ to raise with and if there's ever a time to still slowplay then QQ is it (as a solver will obviously show) - but in a specific spot forgetting balance and you expect your opponent to react in a way vs a raise compared to if you just call then it's definitely viable to play it like this.
It's not THIS bad, but the 1st time I ever played live for serious money, in a 10/25/25 game, I was crushed in a boat vs quads situation, on my 4th hand. Welcome to NLH, I hope you have more bullets! At least the guy who won had the decency to look embarrassed and apologized. 😆 I was felted twice in that session and lost $12k, and was down nearly 20k after a few hours, but clawed back 8 on the tail end.
Love your hand analysis vids. Wish you’d cover current ones tho. This is from years ago and has been covered multiple times on other channels. I think there’s plenty of fresh new content worthy of your insights without using such old stuff. Just sayin. Thanks tho for all your vids👍
I think this hand is fascinating, regardless of its age and Phil has done more recent hands as well. Feel free to suggest intriguing hands that Phil and his team may have missed. That is surely appreciated!
@@BrettMKWgotcha. Then I’m assuming though, it was the best boat, making it effectively like quads in the sense that only a straight flush could beat her?
@@BrenR She had QQ on a board of QJTT7 and her opponent had 89dd. She was actually behind on the flop, but on the river she also loses to TT so third nuts.
Would you consider reviewing the GUKPT quads v quads hand? ruclips.net/video/o-2WtW4lkZE/видео.html Really interesting one, as he manages to just flat river.
Robl is insane. How does he finds himself in some of the craziest hands recorded is beyond me. It has been a long way from that loose canon Tony g game. Dude has seen everything.
@noelcook2389 Sexton is in the hall of fame for his colour commentary. From a time, when it was normal for commentators to have no clue about the game. The only ne who had some understanding in those days was Gabe Kaplan. And have you seen Laak play lately? He was probably break even on High Stakes Poker 15 years ago. And hasn't improved an iota since.
This hand is available on YT, unanalyzed. Don't want to hear Galfond talk about the hand? Here's an outside-the-box tip: don't click on a video from a channel that is completely and totally about POKER ANALYSIS.

Except it is cause it’s a decade old or so
8:45 the look on Timoshenko’s face on the river and at showdown is pure gold!
I love it. I made that my 2+2 profile pic years back, and this video sort of has me wanting to revive it. 😀
At 3:45 is really amazing insight into “click wars”. The hand makes so much more sense now thank you Galfy
You're very welcome!
The commentary by Phil is almost as epic as the hand itself
Thank you ☺
Wait...precisely which Phil do you mean?
@@PhilGalfondI think he means Laak lol
The MOST interesting think Is that Robl took an atrocious cooler like a boss

That reaction at the end is just so stupendous
The funniest bit is Timoshenkos face 😂😂
Royal flush over quad aces at the WSOP Main Event is the sickest cooler ever caught on camera. The names were Phillips and Mabuchi.
Wasn’t caught on camera sadly they actually recreated a the moment for a video
It's basically the same thing. In both cases you're beating 989 combinations on the river and losing to only one.
I do remember watching that tournament and I was stupefied by that hand! The flop and river play was quite something! Thanks for bringing back memories.
Love the analysis on this hand. Always have seen it but never dived deeper into the hand
Last one of these was 3 months ago, what gives? I was really enjoying these. Hope you're well. Cheers!
at 10:37 when you say "this is back in the day, we were non believers", how has that mindset shifted in today's game?
Lewis's flop raise was atrocious. There is no way to spin it.
Yeah it’s horrific, tilts me just watching it 😂
but that is precisely why he may have done it

@@Mwuesse he can afford to take out the one combo of quads from his value raising range lmao
Hi Phil thank you for all the content you make!

The raise on the flop was ridiculous.
Commentary by Jason Alexander?
Mike sexton and Phil Laak
@briandraper7630 no, I can distinctly hear Jason Alexander's voice
Flopping a boat and being stone dead is very funny, the flop donk is also incredible
At one point Sexton says he can’t believe he bet, and the next he is saying that they are out slow playing each other. Which is it?
a) cute good2cu joke
b) you looked so sad at the end lol
C) if analyzing 2 card poker is good, imagine how fun 4 card would be!!!
Bro called Omaha 4 card poker
Clicking wars don’t happen anymore? Then what happened at the WSOP last week where homeboy five bet jammed the river?
Thank you

the sickest thing is not the cooler, is the flop raise
Timoshenko?! Where is Timoshenko these days? We know Toby Lewis and Robl are still going strong as gazillionaires..
Dude cashed out
Craziest cooler could also go to Jennifer Harman’s quads being beaten by a straight flush at the WSOP. Probably happened right around this time too.
That was a boat, she didn’t have quads.
@@BrettMKWgotcha. Then I’m assuming though, it was the best boat, making it effectively like quads in the sense that only a straight flush could beat her?
I see what you are saying but that's stretching it. Quads vs straight flush is more mathematically insane then just having a boat@@BrenR

They better have gotten a sweet bad beat jackpot or I’m pissssed
Obviously Robl should have check folded the river, what a fish.

RIP Mike Sexton.
Ahh my favorite poker format to fall asleep to. Don't take it the wrong way.
Legendary hand haha
One of the craziest hand I’ve ever seen, watched this hand a few times. First time must be 4/5 years ago.
Only thing better is if 9's were winning and the Q came
100% fold there in that situation.
Bad beat jackpot
Man I miss Phil laak
i haven't eve watched this and i already feel bad for Robl. dude is always on the end of crazy beats, his hair isn't naturally like that. hmu AR

Cooler
Our attention spans are not good enought to listen to 12 minutes of one hand analysis
What's this "our" crap? Speak for yourself, gnat.
@phil galfond you should comment on the commentary - it's hilarious how clueless these guys are!

This is YEARS OLD CLIP.
wtf
R.i p sexton
And thats why we never heard from toby lewis again. Raising on the flop and then betting the turn with that board is crazy.
Lol what. He has 10mill in tournament winnings, still very actively playing
But how much did he lose?
