Unfortunately, the combination is eye-balled to look kinda correct. My reasoning is that there are so many factors beyond simply how the data is represented in the game that getting each level to look kinda correct is good enough. The vertex colors and textures themselves are ripped straight from the game, though!
Have you ever tried reconstructing the levels from the third game (year of the dragon)? I think they use a different system with 2 vertex color maps, shading map and tint map. I tried to do it but failed.
