Speaking about naked version, you mention possible thermal issues. However you never mention possible RF interference issues. Which might be even bigger factor to consider.
I preordered one and I can't wait to get it. I just got my HDZero goggles yesterday and even just using them with analog I'm amazed at the picture quality.
I like how the PA is on a totally separate board. I wonder if it would have been overall thermally happier if there was more thermal isolation between the chipset and the power amplifier.
Looks very well thought out..... looking forward to putting one in a build. But definitely don't feel comfortable removing the heatsinks on this one..... Following with interest
Looks like there is enough meat in that centre slab to mill some fins into the sides of it to increase its exposed surface area....0.5 endmills though...shiver.
I don't think they are pushing it, as heat will accumulate where it dissipates the slowest. Maybe a lateral rugged surface would have helped a bit, or not at all. I'm sure their engineers are much smarter than us.
i'd love to get into digital systems, but everytime i look at the costs of a full system (receivers and goggles are expensive..) i just get a little sad :(
I was in the same boat. I sold my analog googles to get the hdzero ones and still flying analog only. Their interlacer is so much better than any other's googles.
@MadRC Thanks for the quick response. Really cool stuff. is there any schematic for this available openly? Also, wish to ask you: how do the high power vtx that provide variable gain options from 25mW to 2W do that when they are using a fixed gain PA with no control?
Hi Everyone, due to weather and some health issues the review will be coming a little later early next week. Thanks
Get better soon, Ian! 😊

@@Mr.Laidukasso you think the housings reduce rf interference?...be good to know that actually interesting comment.
@@MCsCreationsyou didn't say, great review and stay safe there with family.
@@M-H433 Wrong comment.

Love your teardowns and explanations of the circuits!
Hope the Mad Scientist gets wells soon! And…shows us those new Avatar Goggles 😂🤣👊👍👍
Thanks. I am genuinely Rough as hell lol.

Pretty interesting indeed! Thanks, Ian! 😊

Unbelievable work Ian!!! Thank you! Cheers!
Bizarre that they're pushing the heat into the centre rather then the much larger surface area of the outside.

But how many returns due to damaged/ripped off U.FL connectors will there be...
Thanks for this review. Does this camera/VTX work with EMAX Transporter 2 HD monitor or frsky skyvision hd monitor?
your answer is but a quick google search away.
@Mads Tech What is your opinion on this VTX? Will it be as indestructible in terms of voltage spikes as Vista?
Very interesting ! But why 2 power amplifiers ? Was it the same on the older version ?
Yea it’s in a push pull setup to create the 1W of output.
Hi,
Nice tear down. How would you compare with the vista thermals? I run mine makes for over a year and no problem at all. Frankly I’m impressed :)
My naked Vista gets super hot need to get it in the air fast or have a fan on it while working on the bench..
@@serval_fpvsame for me but robust and still running strong (and hot!)

Why two PAs for a single antenna port?
They use a push and pull setup to get the high power output. So they work in parallel to double the affective RF power.

just fyi for peeps the freestyle v2 and nano cam 90fps will not work with x20hd
No I guess that limited to 60fps modes like the VRX.
a penetration test and comparison is what we want
Between what ? 1W is illegal to use in most countries including the U.K. so I won’t be doing it.
@@MadRC I meant btw analog and hdz. Sorry, I didn't know that and I already preordered. Do you know what's the maximum allowed power in the EU? Thanks
25mW, @@miquelmarti6537
So they just stacked the boards 🤔the one new thing is the 20x20 mounting. I’m have trouble pulling the trigger on this still😢
Can someone help me hack fcc on dji air 3 with dji rc2??
Check out Dronetweaks app.
Has anyone run it completely naked?
I’m not aware of anyone that had but asking on the HDZero discord may be an idea
HDZERO still relevant?
Why wouldn't it be?
