In a Simile ,there is a comparison between two objects of different kinds that are similar at least in one point. It is introduced by words as; like, as,so, so….as.
जब दो भिन्न भिन्न वस्तुओं की तुलना की जाए और उन दोनों में कम से कम एक विशेषता दोनों में पायी जाए, तो उसको उपमा अलंकार (Simile) कहते हैं
अंग्रेजी में उपमा -like, as, so, so….as. शब्दों का उपयोग होता है

In a Simile ,there is a comparison between two objects of different kinds that are similar at least in one point. It is introduced by words as; like, as,so, so….as.
जब दो भिन्न भिन्न वस्तुओं की तुलना की जाए और उन दोनों में कम से कम एक विशेषता दोनों में पायी जाए, तो उसको उपमा अलंकार (Simile) कहते हैं
अंग्रेजी में उपमा -like, as, so, so….as. शब्दों का उपयोग होता है
उदाहरण- The Assyrian came down like a wolf on the field.
Note point:
भिन्न प्रकार की दो वस्तुओं की तुलना- Simile में हमेशा जहाँ जहाँ भी वस्तुओं की तुलना की गयी होगी वो भिन्न भिन्न प्रकार की होगी, एक सामान नही होंगी।
दोनों वस्तुओ का कम से कम एक बात में सामान होना so,like,as इन तीनो में से किसी एक का प्रयोग किया गया हो
जिस जिस वाक्य में इन शब्दों (so, like, as) का प्रयोग किया गया होगा ,और दोनों वस्तुए भिन्न एवं कम से कम एक गुण में सामान होगी वहां पर simile ही होगा।
दोनों वस्तुए सामान बिलकुल भी न हो- जैसे कही पर एक आदमी से दुसरे आदमी की तुलना की गयी है, तो वहां Simile figure of speech नही होगा, इसे केवल Comparison ही कहा जाएगा
जैसे- He is as good as Ramesh. यहाँ He और Mohan दोनों व्यक्तियों की तुलना है ,अतः यहाँ Simile ना होकर Comparison मात्र है

इसके अतिरिक्त कुछ Phrases ऐसे होते है जो बातचीत में बहुत प्रयुक्त होते हैं , ये Similes को प्रकट करते हैं जैसे-

Metaphor | रूपक
Metaphor गुप्त उपमा (condensed or implied Simile) है, इसमें विभिन्न वस्तुओं की तुलना बिना like ,so या as शब्दों का प्रयोग किये होती है।
Metaphor is a figure of Speech in which two objects are compared but words ‘like’, 'as’, ’so’ are not used.
उदाहरण-
I. The camel is called the ship of the desert.
Hyperbole | अतिश्योक्ति
Hyperbole में एक बात को बहुत बढ़ा या घटाकर कहा जाता है जो वास्तव में नहीं होती है
Hyperbole is a Figure of Speech in which things are represented as greater or less ;better or worse than they really are.
उदाहरण-
I. She wept ocean of tears.
Oxymoron | विरोधाभास
Oxymoron वह अलंकार है जिसमे एक ही वस्तु के दो परस्पर विरोधी गुण एक साथ दिखाए जाते है।
Oxymoron is an association of two words or phrases having opposite meaning.
उदाहरण-
II. This is an open secret.
III. Life is bitter sweet.
Personification | मानवीकरण
जब किसी निर्जीव या अमूर्त विचार का इस प्रकार वर्णन किया जाय जैसे की उसमे जीवन हो ,तो ऐसे अलंकार को मानवीकरण (Personification) कहते हैं।
Personification is a figure of speech in which inanimate objects or abstract notions are thoughts of as persons of having life

I. I am the Daughter of Earth and Water.
Onomatopoeia | ध्वन्यात्मक अलंकार
एक काव्यात्मक शैली है जिसमे प्रयुक्त शब्दों की ध्वनि से भाव या अर्थ का संकेत मिलता है।
Onomatopoeia is a Figure of Speech in which the sound suggests the sense or meaning.
उदाहरण
I. I babble on the pebbles.
Apostrophe | संबोधन
जब हम किसी निर्जीव वस्तु या अमूर्त विचार का उल्लेख करते हैं, तो ऐसे कथन को धर्मत्याग कहते हैं।
An apostrophe is a direct address to the dead ,to the absent,or to a personified object or idea.
