  • Dundun ati Sekere. The music of the Yoruba people of Nigeria is best known for an extremely advanced drumming tradition, especially using the dundun[1] hourglass tension drums. Yoruba folk music became perhaps the most prominent kind of West African music in Afro-Latin and Caribbean musical styles. Yoruba music - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

yoruba is as expletive as it is proverbial and secretive to the novice. How do we pass down the language to the next generation?

Talking drum is one of the best thing I always enjoy about most apala songs. But I like Agboluaje songs more than Tatalo Arẹmu himself.😊

This music depicts memoirs of the past. More grease to your elbows as you relive our immediate past which we witnessed.

Follow me to the Agbaje compound at Ayeye. My grand uncle Ramoni Agbaje. This takes me back home. I am truly blessed

Amuda Agboluaje and Alamu Tatalo are very good in this dundun music.

This is awesome, i am grooving in my house in Washington DC right now, remembering my hometown of Ibadan. Dundun and Sekere is such a complex and multi layered style of music incorporating folklore, history, sometimes disses but always on point. The drumming patterns takes years to learn and to become a master drummer was no easy task. Yeah this is the real deal

When these artists have gone we now appreciate and value them much.
It now brings Yoruba man out of you in foreign land.
I can sense in t his piece of music that he was engaged to confront His former master, Tatalo Alamu over family chieftaincy that fell to Jalaruru's favour , a member of Tatalo's family.
Rivalry in music made these musicians tick, waxing abusive songs against their opponents.

Dundun and Sekere seems quite simple at first listen but the talking drums and the embedded messages in them are really what's at the heart of the music. A master Dundun drummer is constantly dropping knowledge and parables and information at every turn. Ijinle and pretty deep. Thank you for this post

Rich cultural displays by these virtually illiterate musicians - balanced composition, good vocalist and chorus able backed by all local traditional musical instruments all these enrich this Dundun (talking drums)and Sekere music of Yorubas in Nigeria
