Good guide, I´m always impressed by how passive most CV captains are in randoms.
Having the "new" autopilot show the turns on the map, instead of a perfect 90° angle, is bettern than the old one. But thats about the only better thing, since sometimes the carrier won't even take the turn as it is shown on the map ...
In this game, I didn't see him attack a DD or even accidentally spot one until the game was well-decided.
A cv of culture
Yeah, good DD captains can avoid getting targeted by the CV. Sometimes farming BBs is the way to go.
I wont touch a DD at the start unless they dont hit that "P" button stupid should hurt and I make it hurt lol idc if its some old guy just wanting to relax before he plays with his sweet precious grand babies I will ruin him due to his own stupidity
@QuestionMan The only reason CVs go for dds is because teams are too lazy to learn how to fire and hit dds now everyone is out of practice even me
Thanks for the video. I'm a CV main and loving it. I came back after 4 years of not playing find my 5 and 7 carriers were gone. Not happy but oh well. Keep it up.
I started to play CV for real after the rework. I usually go for the next island that gives some protection but closer to middle. But even then 30% of the teams manage to not defend my flank and I get killed mid game cause of my team leaving me alone.

@@ichasegaming Epicentre, Domination, etc. Didn't notice you already did AP and HE, sorry. Also how about a guide on using spotter aircraft? I find aiming with it hard to adjust to so I've been sticking to fighters instead.
@@nobblkpraetorian5623 Getting good at taking shots with spotter aircraft just takes practice, there's no real trick to it.

How can I best make use of islands? I recently got into USN CLs, and I'm struggling to make optimal use of islands.
Look for small islands that you can shoot over, remember those, and abuse enemy ships. Practically impossible to deal with them without a carrier

hmm i u move 2 steps forward and get spotted ur in range of most of the BB's in a t10 match. it can end quickly.
Yeah, the biggest mistakes I see CVs make are hiding behind islands and not moving. When I CV, I always scout islands near the enemy spawn first, because those CVs are super easy targets, and I never stop moving, because eventually, someone will realize where you are and send a scout to spot you if you don't move.
I can't stand the other players who think they know CVs, and will complain and even TK you for not hiding in the back.
Going with the front, I do this myself, is fine and dandy untill the enemy makes a run for it. Your CV is not fast enough to get away from a turning flank, especially with that wanky auto pilot. You really need to keep an eye on that.
@QuestionMan I'm sorry my input seems to hurt your feelings. That however doesn't change the fact that it is important to keep watching your surroundings and evaluating whether to go with the push or not.
I always push with my team. Then vomit airplane and recall them back

I hate rocket planes. It shoots mg first then shoot rockets. By that time the ship can avoid my firing

I think we all know the optimal position for the skycancer generator: at the bottom of the ocean. All carrier players, please relocate there immediately.
I really hate this new way of doing CV play. It forces you to constantly divert your attention between your ship and your planes in addition to all of the normal things that most ships need to worry about. I thought the old style of a real-time strategy game for CVs was good. You could set up combination strikes, direct attacks and set up zones of control. To me, it felt really balanced and natural and how a CV should be played. I don't know why some people say it was OP. I never felt like I was at a disadvantage in my BB or DD.
This new version just feels clunky and awkward. I like being able to take control of a squadron, but combat tactics are just impossible now. The attack runs are frustratingly hard to setup right and easy to misdrop. It almost always results in nothing more than lost planes. As a BB player, I honestly don't even worry about CVs now. They just feel like a distraction and the planes are little more than an extra pool of XP to farm.
An old CV could one shot a BB with little to no counterplay... The new one still has almost no counterplay besides press O and hope for potato both are bad for the game. One was just significantly worse as a good CV won the game at a ludicrous weight and now they are mostly dependant on tier; bottom tier useless top tier you can do something. The only cancer of new CV's is the terrible interactions of them and DD's. aka permaspotting them as most DD's have bad AA. That and Rocket planes are basically free damage with no counterplay. Fun and interactive press O hope for potato.
Forget all this BS, team selection decides who wins (and IT IS NOT
random) close games are rare, mostly you win heavily or lose heavily.

@@petrosmarko3092 because they're literally the most annoying thing to play against. I wont even bother finishing my lexington to get the midway because the gameplay with them is so boring and cancerous. Here's a step by step guide to being a good CV player; DROP FIGHTERS, know where your carrier is in relation to enemies, Get free damage. That's literally it. To be a good DD player you have to; Know what ships have radars and their range/duration, know what ships have hydro and their range/duration, keep track of enemy DDs and know their concealment compared to yours, know where enemy CV planes are at (not that it'll do you any good), Properly stay alive to spot for your team, somehow in the midst of all that you then need to capture and get contribute damage.

I do positioning my CV but this game’s community has so much hatred for CV that some will yell at you for going with the team lol. But some will notice the effectiveness of the positioning and commend, sadly thanks to reporting system some will just report.
This game is a mess lately, they add more and more content to the game(lines of ships, new mecanics) without thoroughly fixing the downsides of the existing problems.. tnx for the content as always - and be safe

@@molochz yes, there is the desync stuff atm, but he was talking about problems, plural.... and aside from the (granted, anoying) desync issue, i don't see much wrong with the game technically.... of course, you can have an issue with a game design choice (mechanics, ... i am looking at you ground penetrating radar ,. .. ) but that is by choice and only on a personal level, not problems per se...
My god, watching this series makes me think how much this game needed tutorials for the basics for new players. It harkens me back to the way racers like Gran Turismo had you complete a lot of challenges in order to progress through the "tiers" so to speak. This is such basic stuff and yet, it is never explained to you in-game.
As a interested new player to the game, I purposefully (a) found and (b) watched the entire series because of known complaints about the poor tutorials in the game.

Can we please remove the +/- 2 tier thing? I find it very annoying when I play cv, getting thrown against tier 8 ships that shoot my planes out of the sky in seconds, leaving me with basically nothing to do expect spot for my team. Sure, you’re helping but really how fun is that?

Hmmm.... It doesn't tell me how to control or deploy the interceptors manually. Some player manages to deploy their interceptor further ahead, while in auto it will always fly around the carrier.

I like to take my CV and pace back and forth near the back of the map, until I see which side is pushing.

What cvs are good? Im using the langley currently and it Seems Very weak...
The problem with positioning for me is that my team always seems to get annihilated on the side of the map I'm on
