- Sri R Visweswaran left us on this day, fourteen years ago. We bring to you a tribute to him, in his own voice, wherein he has composed & arranged the music and played the santoor & harp as well!
That was Sri R.Visweswaran, a multifaceted musician, fondly known as Viswesh/Viswesh uncle, who could play several instruments; a sensitive singer and composer par excellence, he was a major contributor to the world of dance music & also the first musician to have brought Carnatic music to the Kashmiri Santoor.
His music is beyond time and space and reflects the very essence of this composition...
"Mudive illaamal yennai nee padaithai...."
"Thou has made me endless, such is my pleasure. This frail vessel thou emptiest again and again, and finest it ever with fresh life.
This little flute of a reed thou has carried over hills and dales, and has breathed through it melodies eternally new
At the immortal touch of the hands my little heart loses its limits in joy and gives birth to utterance ineffable
Thy infinite gifts come to me only on these very small hands of mine.
Age pass and still thou pourest, and still there is room to fill....."
The first song of Rabindranath Tagore's Gitanjali, translated into Tamil by Sri VaVeSu
Music composed & arranged by R.Visweswaran
Vocals -Sri R Visweswaran and Smt T V Sundarvalli.
We thank Sri Iyappan Arumugam of A4 Medias and Sri Shanmuga Sundar for putting together this tribute
