Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is now in production!
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 presents a new standalone 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077- a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?
Director Kai Ikarashi (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, SSSS.Gridman) brings a bold, cinematic vision to the series, supported by the lead character designer Kanno Ichigo (Promare, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners). They're joined by returning collaborators Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Promare) and Hugo Award winner Bartosz Sztybor as Showrunner, Story Writer, and Producer.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is created in collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED and animation studio TRIGGER, with a planned release on Netflix in the future.

To be fair I believe this is the same production group as season one. Same situation second go. And while the first story is well done and does not need to be continued like mentioned in this trailer the cities story continues so they could easily just completely start over with a new cast new story same city. I think that is the best way to do a second season of a show like this is to have it be inspired but have nothing to do with season one. We might see the person with that camera take over after having seen David die (like how Davids story started after seeing his mother die) and that is the catalyst for whatever happens next. To be honest that would explain why David dying is almost the only thing that happened in this trailer depressing as that is.

This is probably the best direction leaving the old storyline to be and following a different set of characters. But it would be cool to have hints to the old season like maybe TVs playing news about events relating to the first season.

Just remember that in Night City there are no happy endings
So if anyone hasn't noticed, there's been a bit of a change in core staff. Season 1 was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and Character Designs by Yoh Yoshinari, two legendary figures within the industry and major members of Trigger. Now season 2 will be directed by a younger director in Kai Ikarashi, I've seen some of the episodes he's directed and I can gladly say, that he is the best person to replace Imaishi. Same thing goes for Kanno Ichigo.
So if anyone is concerned about the staff changes, don't worry it's in very good hands. Also Imaishi is working on the Panty and Stockings, if anyone wants to know.
