I could imagine that the ash people treat the other Na'vi like the aggressive tribe in Mel Gibson's Apocalypto. That would give a good chance to deviate from the human/Na'vi conflict and enter new territory. And imagine what cool beasts these ash people will be riding or flying on:-D
