Fascinated by the beauty of these roads! We are planning to have a road trip to North East in the coming winters. I am 65 and my wife is 64. Is it sensible to plan this trip at this age, considering that I'll be driving alone? I am used to driving for long hours, but is little apprehensive and would like to have your opinion. I am a faculty in Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan and is retiring this September. I regularly watch your channel and would love to talk to you sometime if you agree.
Thanks and it's nice to hear you. I think, as long as you are physically fit, you can do your planned north east trip with ease. The one suggestion I have is that you plan your trip with ample breaks along the way (basically take a short break every 2-3 hours; we do it). The roads have improved overall in recent times. Wasn't aware of the route taken by you. Roads are good as of now but monsoons damage them. Mostly we know Bhalukpong - Bomdila route. Your video is the best guide for travellers 👍
To give you an idea about drive time, during our return trip, we had one overnight halt to reach home: Shergaon (5:10 am) - Jaldapara (6 pm, overnight halt, resumed at 5:30 am) - Kalyani (9 pm), including fuel, food, bio breaks! All the best.
