I really appreciate you sharing this video. I have been driving for 20 years, for everybody else. I’ve been soaking up knowledge, as much as I can from anybody I can. I know I can do good in this business it’s just been hard taking that first step.
Whew... You answered all my questions. Been there and done that doing about $3M+ annually in sales. Dealing with employees and chasing people for money. Never again. Was so miserable I chose to drive Uber. Will get my CDL and pay cash some day for a truck and trailer. Dealing with sick family members ATM. Great video.
We are coming up on one year of our own authority and it has been a roll coaster. I will say I understand what sells on RUclips and what is real. I really appreciate your video and plan to watch more because I'm not looking for entertainment. If I can learn from your mistakes and accomplishments than I will listen all day long. I thought I knew the industry from being a local driver for almost 10 years. And quickly found out all I knew was how to back a trailer up lol

People ask for inspections for a number of reasons, from boosting one's own CSA score, to having been ordered by a boss to drive equipment that won't pass a pretrip. They don't think anything of it and the worst they can do - other than finding violations - is say no.
here's how we keep drivers, "that doesn't work that great". Newer truck, can drive speed limit in any state, Combata fuel card(fuel up anywhere), can run PC on ELD as needed, gets company credit card for maintence cost on the road. Its a very difficult business, and many company's fail because of mechanical breakdowns, accidents, and driver retention problem.
This is by far the best and most informative video I have ever watched on YT. I recently started following Cash and Yourself. I got my CDL and started OTR 3 months ago. Thanks for the info, hey have you make a topic in the past about delete trucks or people you may know what’s their experience, I have spent like 13k just on emissions and 0 on my engine except for regular maintenance, keep rolling 👍
Phoenix Capital/Gulf Bank on charges us 1.99% on $1000 they invoice it for us so there’s a fee for that and then there’s like an ACH fee and if you want a wire fee of getting it same day that’s like another five or 10 bucks so that would end up we normally get like 973 if we wired it but if we just do the normal transaction it’s usually like 978 and they pay next day. Then you wouldn’t have to keep all that money. It might cost you $1000 of your money but it also frees you up to not have to stress. You don’t even have to run all of them through them. We love it there great to work with. They’re not one of these vulture companies.
Wow. Can't believe you said you would make more money with just your one truck. I had to paise the video to try and understand why or how is that possible. Im an owner operator leased to F2F TRANSPORT
Excellent vid. As I saw you growing your fleet I was surprised to see you get out of the seat. I just passed my audit and I'm trying to figure if I want to become an employer or lease on carrier. When you talked about the incidents and not claiming insurance for damage where you working something out where the driver paid for the damage? Also how many hours a day do you spending finding loads for all the drivers?
Interesting. You giving bonus to driver's if producing great mpg with the truck. Probably not. Driver making mistake split damage in half. Employer take my profits and take my losses. Yes no who knows.
Great trucking talk. drives are not dispatchers-book keepers. Its takes years to pay for the equipment. All you can do is hope for a little piece of the pie$
This is absolutely fascinating because there are so many parallels to the totally unrelated business I work in. I think your challenges with scaling are more difficult than you know due to our current economic conditions, especially inflation--the cost of inflation is somewhat misunderstood, but basically it makes EVERYTHING harder to accomplish and there is some threshold where an economy can't sustain the inflation, it's deadly to productivity and health. The government will push more and more of its troubles onto us until we finally snap.
We drove century 2002and Columbia's 2003 when I was driving for FedEx back on 2011 . Those were good rides Detroit 60. I don't think they were rough rides.
So I know a driver, he has cash for a truck he has experience where they didn't need a CDL so he's considered a new driver he's a mechanic to work on his own truck, I mean he's he's trustworthy. I was considering purchasing a truck with his money down. It would help my company business credit while getting him started. There's a lot of pros and cons. What are your thoughts? My husband and I just can't make a decision 🤣😁
