Skate 4 can’t fail if they listen to their fans. I hope and think they do and I also think that’s why they let us play the game in such an early stage of development. Just your comment section alone come up with such amazing and useful feedback. I can’t wait for the final result.
Skate 2 is arguably the best game of the series imo. The detail put into every single location and the way they reimagined the original map with lore to explain how San vanelona came to be how it is in Skate 2, its solid. Why 1 and 3 became backwards compatible before 2 is beyond me, and the fact that you can only get skate 2 on Xbox through the old Microsoft store is just massively wack. Skate 2 should have servers reenabled and be made available to purchase on the Xbox store
I can definitely see them doing remasters/remakes of the original games considering how many locations from the old games have been remodeled in the skate 4 pre alpha map. I don't know about switch though, since they've only ever had skate it with Nintendo

@@saulf.4678 the lighting was one of my favorite things from console, but now emulating the game on PC it causes a lot of issues - some areas you can only get 20-30 fps because of the lighting, which sadly limits where I can record
@@naetrr Bloom lighting itself is not a problem, its a valid technique as any other and has its uses, but when half the screen is white like some of the beginning dam sections of this video and you cant see any other detail its distracting. But when used sparingly its fine. Modern games seem to have gone away from that though (thankfully imo). I agree it has a certain charm and nostalgia but in hindsight I think the X360/PS3 era was really ugly overall: all brown and bloom everywhere. But I also grew up on and N64 and still Banjo-Kazooie still looks fantastic and maybe kids who grew up on X360/PS3 think it looks like ass and cant see how anyone would think that looks good.
It's got a grunge-y art style, while skate 3 definitely has EA corporate smothering it, like 2 had a younger brother (3 definitely had some stylings of 2 in it, just a smidge) but was born in a strict household.
I've always thought Skate 1 looked the best, especially if someone eventually figures out how to remove all the in-game effects. I tried unpacking every single .big file but nothing that wasn't zipped in a proprietary EA format had anything to do with HUD or post processing. Maybe someone experienced with reverse engineering can have a gander at this?
modern monetization methods are more lucrative anyways. freemium products yield more ROI for companies than single purchase, and these residual revenue models overall increase the average lifespan/update cycle of video games. the problem is nefarious companies making monetization the only metric that matters and removing the passionate nature that creates good video games. Making a game "F2P" does not inherently mean it will yield lower quality than a full priced triple A title. The bigger issue is whether or not the project is allocated enough resources and has a passionate enough team. but you're right that EA has a horrendous track record of hyperfocusing on monetization.
From what they've done so far, I really like the direction they're taking and how open they're being about the development process. Definitely still scary though
Even if skate 4 is a terrible game, right about 6 years after its release, nostalgic dumbasses will be like "omg skate 4 was the best skate game ever, completely flawless😍😍😍". Pretty much what happens with every skate game.
No it cannot. Screenshot this comment. When skate. comes out you will see that I was right. Live service and F2P will ruin skate. There won't be any cutscenes, story mode, pro skaters. We will all play it but it won't even come close to previous Skate games.
