So many great memories I used to race the long branch street cars on my 28 inch single speed bicycle and sometimes I won from the mimico loop to long branch these days I don't think I could beat them it's funny how we missed the clrv now... It seemed they were retired a bit early we'll see if the new modern streetcars last as long as the pccs and clrvs... Many thanks for this little documentary it is much appreciated. James in mimico
My first street car rides were on the the Peter Witt cars with pot belly stoves to keep the passengers warm. I'm feeling a lot of nostalgia looking at this presentation as I grew up in the Roncesvalles neighbourhood.
Meteoman7958: I suspect that you were riding a trailer pulled by a "large Peter Witt" streetcar. The trailers were converted horse-drawn cars. The Peter Witts had electric heating. I remember riding a two-man Peter Witt car; the collector sat at the centre exit.
Eric is a very friendly person and is very knowledgeable. He drove PCC 4549 on charters a number of times. He went to the Subways and then retired. George was the other guy that did the charters often. @@fares-please

What a wonderful history lesson
He spoke of Eric Humphrey driving the Peter Witt. He did the charters for many years and is a very outgoing person.
I don’t recall if I’ve ever met him, but sounds like a great guy. I miss those charter days, sadly now a thing of the past.
