The way Buster was kneading the carpet of moss was adorable. One could easily take a nap there; you guys are lucky to live near such a beautiful and peaceful forest.
My father was a master mushroom picker. He claimed to know all the good ones and all the bad ones until the night he put 20 people to sleep at a family gathering, not to wake up for 20 hours. Looks like a few bad ones got mixed into the pot. True story.
What a character! Buster is so used to walking with me and he is very confident in the forest. He has never run away and just stays in his place if something happens or if there is a strange sound. But he also has a GPS tracker just in case. So it feels very safe to walk with him 🙂
@@Maine_Coon_Adventures Ah well, a real coon. Our two ordinary European shorthair were strays (saved as kittens from an abandoned factory by some nice lady) and are much more instinct driven. Even inside the house, they jump three feet high at any unusual sound and disappear in thin air as soon as the doorbell goes. We had two coon half-breeds in earlier years who were much more self-assured. Later, we had a real coon from a "hobby cattery". Never again. The poor guy hasn't even lived to his 3rd birthday. Severe case of HCM... 😿
Yet another Buster talent - perhaps try him on truffles next. Loved how he so sweetly asked for another (well-earned) treat. Thank you for another lovely forest walk.

I started walking him with a leash when he was about 4-5 months old. I didn't let him walk freely until after a couple of more months when I was sure that he would be fine 🙂 He hasn't really gotten spooked and run away. He usually stays in his place so I can go to him to make sure that he doesn't run away if something shows up. I also have the GPS tracker on him just in case.
I've got some decent parks near me for my Maine Coon's walks, but I wish I had a lovely forest like this with spongy foliage for her to knead and Sunny spots to loaf in! ≽ܫ≼

That said, my grandparent taught me to never pull out the entire mushroom but only cut it off just above the ground so it can grow back and you can always get more. Not sure how true that is, seeing as they spread by spores.
