A pastor/Shephard & Elders 1st priority is to the spiritual condition of the people. You see the urgency and love in which the NT writers (John, Peter & Paul) encourage, admonish, warn and compel people to know who they are in Christ and walk accordingly. Few pastors make themselves available to their congregations for counseling or discipling. They have "staff" for that. The larger the church, the less likely a pastor is to offer himself as a spiritual resource. Many have fallen to a worldly model that I don't think was what churches were meant to be. It increases the stress on a leader and the temptation also when one becomes a "celebrity" pastor.

I have always believed that 2 Thessalonians 2:3 is the Return of Christ, because…in vs.2…Paul says “ the day of Christ is at hand” which I believe Paul was talking about the Return of Christ. So therefore, vs. 3… “a falling away “ would be a departure from this World, it continues…AND…(a conjunction…) that man if sin be revealed, the son of perdition…which is THEE ANTICHRIST. So, when we go up…he comes into power.
Excellent message but based on 1 Thessalonians 3:3, I’m starting to question if the pre-tribulation rapture is true. Just take a look at believers outside of America who are suffering for the cause of Christ. I’m sure they might not believe in a pre-trib rapture. If we’re called to suffer now, perhaps the Lord will purge both the church AND Israel in the great tribulation? Please help me understand because I’m seriously questioning the validity of a rapture before the coming great tribulation.

I guess my question to you would be...why would God need to purge or purify me? Upon salvation Christ's righteousness was imputed to me!
