My dad's mom's dad's dad (Thomas) was an imigrant from County Tipperary, Ireland. He served in the Civil War. Custer's 7th, as a matter of fact. And he worked on Union Pacific.
My dad's dad's (Papa) mom died when my Papa was 8. He ended up boarding, for a time, with Thomas. He taught my Papa how to blast with dynamite, and my Papa would become explosives master at Howe Copper Mine on Lake Chelan in Washington in the 1940s.
I never knew till now how much it mattered to work on the railroads. They mostly get gleaned over in political and war documentaries. This is only the second video of yours that I've seen. I'm only half way through and I'm in love for the attention you give to how our land affected our ancestors as opposed to the other way around. Thank you for this illuminating outlook!❤
