I think generational talent is the same as talent today unfortunately we find it harder to compare eras so we focus on what's the trending topic in sports and the all time greats get forgotten how often does wilt get mentioned anymore? Jordon is starting to fade into yesteryear. Its really sad but that's life.

He was feared back then. A rising star. But he was young and as the team declined from its 2 year turn playing as Western Conference Champions in the finals, he became part of the trend of dope smokin cokeheads of the 70s and 80s NBA. He got traded to Phoenix and while he was a good player he was troubled and the Suns didnt succeed. Still his talent was evident and Boston became something that overshadows the near greatness of his start in Seattle. I was a young Bullets fan back then and i feared DJ when we played the Sonics.

One of my favorite players. Fundamentally sound, complete player who did everything well, and a great competitor.

That ending was DIRTY!!!! I don't blame DJ for being pissed!

Washington Head Coach Dick Motta gave the ending the ultimate cop-out evaluation: "I don't know if that was a foul, but it was definitely goaltending."

Wow they did DJ dirty! That offensive board, and then to get the bucket when they down 2. An all time great possession. I gotta send this link to my father. He’s gonna love this.

Bird has nothing but praise for him. The first 4 years he was with the Celtics they went to the finals 4 times.

I remember all those Bullets/Sonics games. DC knew DJ was great and nobody was surprised at his play when he got to Boston....and kicked Washington's ass every playoff 😭 😂

Quiet guy, didn't bring much attention to himself which I think resulted in him being overlooked for the great player that he was, he was solid

DJ could play great D, he could score the basketball, and he was a clutch player even if this game didn't end well.

DJ should have had two rings by way of the Sonics teams. I think that the 'powers that be' took away the 1978 championship because they wanted Elvin Hayes to have a ring - Also, Nobody liked Jack Sikma (and I don't know why ) ! _ He was so good !!!

DJ (Seattle version) was a much better defensive guard than Michael Jordan. If Defensive Player of the Year was out from Day 1, Johnson would have won it multiple years. Bill Russell drafted DJ in Seattle and said years later, "Dennis Johnson is the player I enjoy watching the most on defense."

Back in the 70's you had 3 chances to make 2.
