I feel like the series took a dive after the first Season. The backstory arc was interesting, but the continuation is just lackluster at best. I really hope they can finish strong. Even the spinoffs have been hit or miss.
Gendo Ikari is very much a Darth Vader clone. A tall man in dark clothes who is the father of the hero and the Dragon (Right hand man) of a more powerful villain and leads his armies while having his own agenda. A Yandere whose fall to the dark side was caused by the death of the love of his life. The prequel Trilogy also retroactively turned Shinji into one as well. A boy with a missing parent. The best pilot. A child trained to handle supernatural powers beyond. Serves a "father" who uses him for his own ends. In his grief he choques the girl he loves while puts in motion the end of the world as it is known. The Rebuild movies go one step forwards, where the boy is manipulated by the father to eliminate his enemies and the obstacles in his plan
