You'll want to make sure you never empty all the air out of the shocks entirely, as you will end up puncturing the bags inside. I used to have them in my XD falcon, and one day I decided to lower it all the way down, drove around, and went over some bumps, then put some air in them. Next morning, the air had leaked out, and from then on, if I put air in the shocks, by the next morning, it had all leaked out, which meant I had ripped a hole in the bag, and ended up replacing them.
Good vid Mark, Good utes when they're in good nick. I used to put individual valves on my air shocks, otherwise they work against each other on one line. Opposite to what an anti sway bar does.. Cheers mate
Yeah good idea Mate! I figured with the tiny 1/8th inch air line the air couldn’t possibly transfer that quickly… but I’ll see how she goes! Thanks mate
Hi Mark, I wanted to email instead of publicly posting this, thanks for dropping off the beanie I purchased, I was walking the dog at the time but the missus and daughter were home at the time, hope you didn't drive all that way just to do that, really appreciate it mate, cheers
Good job mate. I bet that hoist has been a game changer for you. Last week I had a tufflift midrise scissor delivered for my Fairlane. I will never go back to working on the floor. The tufflift brand is absolutely outstanding really solid strong design they’ve thought it through for sure
Little old skool trick for dumping fords on their ass is to take the small leaf from bottom of pack , put it on the top of leaves upside down and that gives you about a 2 inch drop roughly . And I had that done with some 2 inch blocks on my ZJ backing the day with air shocks attached to a small Chinese tyre compressor and if cops were behind me I’d pump them up as they were pulling me over ! Actually worked !! Also , when cornering , if only one shrader valve is used , the air from one shock will be forced across into opposite shock making the whole car lean even more . 2 valves is better .
Mark Arnold!, good old fashion iron empire. GREAT ep Mark. Nice clean up. Look forward to a few more to see you finish off this ute, they are a great ford shape, had a long reach xg my self massive work horse. good one Cheers
I love how you skipped the oils and engine service and went straight to slamming it 👌😆 Very informative video tho, i have 63mm blocks in my xg panno and ive been hung up twice 😅 im gonna rip them out and try the ' flip the bottom leaf ontop ' method soon. Im keen for the next video 🙌
Awesome video mate, started watching a lot of your videos. I have an AU XR8 T series I love the old 302 Windsor motors. Would love to start making content on older cars, how did you start with your channel?
Hey mark I used to tow my stockcar , tyre rack loaded plus tool box on draw bar all up about 1800 kg I think more lols on tandem trailer on air bags on my poxy ea falcon but it got us there , cheers , shaneno, nelson NZ 👍😀🍺
Love the X series utes. I built one in SA with 300kw on e85 ran 12s but had to sell it a few years back. I've been looking for now hoping to buy it back 😞
Just buy some Hydroflouric Acid, that is commonly used as alloy brighter as the chemical to remove rust. Septone Ali Bright is cheap and easy to get and is useful for many detailing jobs. Great for cleaning rust, red dirt, alloy of course and mould. Of course the paint will need polishing after, but when diluted as directed is safe on paint and glass.
@@Swwa89 yeah bud ,bought it off a ol fella and i thought i was gonna look at a mid 80s Hilux and then theres this XF ute in the back yard ,thought it was a joke but hey its legit ,he kept this tarp on it and never took it off so the entire top of the ute was rusted and behind the rear window was crispy ,bit of body work and paint and its spot on now
I mean it's just a badge I guess in that era they were doing the same with patrols and mavericks so wouldn't imagine would be any more valuable than a regular xf but cool and rare none the less
I sold my xg Utes didn’t like the front end found the xh better with the power rack steer k frame and better suspension setup and the back is easy flip number 3 leaf and run 25 mill blocks as 2 inch blocks are useless
Nothing could smell worse than the old bottles of that black paint on gasket sealer.its been years since ive seen it i cant remember the name but all u og gearheads will know wat im talking about.
Good progress man, will look even better with original seats, painted bar and some rust out!
Yes! Saturday is back to normal with this video coming out
Haha thanks mate
Really enjoyed seeing you and your videos again. Lots of fun amazing how that car started right up. Take care

Love the wheels on the LTD!
I've been running those same shocks on my vw bug in fronts.. gets lowered for stance and if I have to go anywhere just pump them up..
Awesome
Nice man … just finishing up my Xg xr6 rescue on my channel.

Red walls are fresh!
G'day Mark. You'll need to run a minimum of 20 psi and no more than 150 psi in the air shocks.

Permatex non hardening gasket sealant. Works awesome but a bitch to get off your hands.
Beaters are better. Can drive them rain or shine and park them anywhere.
When you getting back to the ss
Good show m8, the 4 post hoist doesn't look like a great piece of machinery.
best mod you can do it xd xe door card
sunbird
You got a sunbird?
I had a longreach ute I think it was a xg it sucked like a whore it used more fuel than my ve maloo 6.2 lite use so I sold it.
