The run of the mill Harley guys are easy to get along with But that hard-core nothing but a Harley guy is nothing but obnoxious. I will add I dislike the extreme sport bike rider as well and avoid contact with them also. It would be nice if progressive insurance would have motorcycle shows again and we can go try some of these bikes out. I’d like to ride a couple of the new Harley Davidsons. I feel like I need to say that I do not ride cruisers of any make. I have reached 64 years of age and maybe a cruiser would be a lot more comfortable for me.
Just like buying your car or truck at home, you do your homework on the vehicles. I’m a ford guy, full size. I would buy the Ranger, especially when the Tacoma has such a high reliability rating. American automakers and bike manufacturers are doing it to them selves. I’d buy a Harley if they weren’t so expensive and their reliability was so low. It doesn’t make sense to buy a Harley. The Vaquero is a reliable and affordable option if you ride. I own a Voyager, and I have no regrets buying it.
I owned a 2012 Vaquero and enjoyed it greatly. I had also had a 2006 Nomad previously, as well as, an ‘03 Electra Glide, ‘06 Street Glide and 2012 Street Glide. So when comparing the Harley vs the Kawasaki, I have some experience. Truly, they are very different bikes! Each has its own unique characteristics. There is no denying the Japanese reliability. It starts and runs. Accelerates and shifts all without drama but…. …it’s boring to ride. It doesn’t have that amazing Harley Idle. The Harley Torgue. Speed. Or Handling. Coming off of a Harley and its relative “Nimbleness” and jumping in the Vaquero, a rider can get in trouble pretty quickly. The big balloon tires in combination with the greater rake on the Vaquero, will have a Rider squeeze their butt cheeks tight when trying to around a modest corner. Simply put, it drags the front frame rails really easily, especially when applying any form of trail brake, followed by the front tire losing traction. That said, it is a comfortable bike, on the highway, and the cruise control is very nice. Another downside is the abundance of plastic panels. This bike creaks, snaps and crackles all the time. It’s down right embarrassing in town, as everyone can hear it. The steering neck trim and front tank trim are particularly noisy. Then there are the saddle bags. Side Loading bags are dumb. Putting even a jacket in one, without catching a sleeve in the door while closing it is a challenge. And why don’t they come off without tools? And finally, the bars. They have no adjustability for Riders of different statures. I’m 6’2” with longer arms. I like my hands just about shoulder height. These bars only have a single position and not suitable for longer rides. So… …it’s not a Harley. But, it doesn’t cost “Harley Money”. Personally, there are some great bikes out there that are much better than either of these two options. The 2022 Goldwing (Bagger) The 2022 BMW 1800B …or get a nice previously owned bike for a fraction of the money and find the one that suits your style. Speaking from experience, there is nothing like a “New to Me” bike every Spring. 😁
After riding/racing dirt bikes for decades, I switched to street bikes-Yamaha Super Tenere and a Kawasaki Voyager. I’m not sure how to safely ride a street bike without ABS. Kawasaki puts out a quality product. And yes my Voyager was Ivanized. A very enjoyable long distance cruiser.
I’ve been looking to upgrade from my shadow 750. After some comparisons this Kawi is in the running as my upgrade. The equivalent in HD or Indian is out of my reach. I’m not a 1%er or a brand guy.
I have 10,000 miles on my 23 Voyager. It was my first 900lb+ bike. I have been primarily loyal to the big 4 as i have multiple bikes in my garage. I have not had many complaints about my big Voyager in a year of ownership...until i bought my first Harley. A 24 Heritage 114. I take no great pride in saying this but the Voyager does not compare in any way, any category or any fashion whatsoever to my Harley. My mind is blown. And thats an honest fact. Its important to realize this bikes strength is entirely in the fact its a bargain full dresser. If you keep that train of thought its a very nice bike. But a Harley it most definitely is not
I own a ‘14 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager, bought used with 9K miles. This is not my only street bike, but this model is a well build affordable bike. I initially was looking at the Vaquero, but bought the Voyager. Issue free for many years, many enjoyable multi-state rides. People do your research on any bike you are considering. My other bike is a Yamaha Super Tenere, another well built reliable ride.
Informative video. 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 here. The Vulcan is a sweet intermediate cruiser (sadly lacking a 6th gear) and whose sweet range is 50-65mph. Would consider moving up to the Vaquero for longer highway trips (and less high speed buzz!) but the 250lb weight difference is a deal breaker for me at 74yo. Even the 900 (at 625lbs) is a chore to drive in heavy city traffic, while the Vaq, at some 900+lbs must be a slow torture. A gentle Suggestion: I do find your constant emphatic hand waving to be distracting and mildly irritating. Reminds me of Doug Demure who I can no longer stand listening to for more than 30 seconds.
The Vaquero and the Voyager are dependable affordable motorcycles that are worth looking into. I am a long time Harley rider whose been priced out of the Harley scene. When it’s time for a new bike I will definitely be looking at these two.
I have a 2020 Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero 1700 ABS and it looks better than the Harley Davidson Road Glide/ Street Glide. Everything's updated. Everyone think it's a Harley but it's a Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero.
I don't understand why everything is compared to Harley. Harely is just not the best bike on the road. They look and sound good yes. But when it comes to reliability its just not there, it's like those idiots that think chevy is more reliable than toyota.
I wish the saddle bags were opened from the top rather than the side where stuff falls out when opened as well as I wish they had a infotainment system rather than analog.
As I review more bagger/cruisers like this I’ll get more experienced at what I should look for in a bike in this category. Top load appears to be superior to side load as you mentioned. Had I known that at the time of review I would have deducted a half point:(
Bro, no Harley coming close to a Kawasaki. It doesn’t really matter what Harley has to offer if there is no reliability and you got to around with the tool kit. Question is how much did Harley pay you 😅
Cheaper than a Harley? Oh, yes! Definitely a LOT cheaper than an Overpriced, Overrated, Harley! BETTER than a Harley? ABSOLUTELY AND DEFINITELY WAY BETTER than any and every Harley! I have a 2016 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager 1700 that I bought recently to replace the 2005 Yamaha Road Star Silverado 1700 that an elderly woman (87 years old) TOTALED when she Rear-ended me while I was stopped at a traffic light behind several other cars! And I loved that Yamaha, it was THE BEST motorcycle I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot of motorcycles. My first motorcycle was an old "Harley Davidson Electra Glide." It was stripped down (no saddle bags, windshield, etc.) but it was a Harley! That one CURED ME on Harley's! Constantly having to work on it, and when it did run it was too heavy and cumbersome to handle. And the COST, let's not even get into that one! The "H.D." doesn't really stand for "Harley Davidson," it stands for "Hundred Dollars!" Because everything costs more than $100. And several of my friends bought Harley's, and they were "constantly having to WORK on it" and "put more MONEY in it." Every time we planned a group ride, the "Harley owners" wanted to have a special "WORK on our bikes time" before the Ride! Sorry, but I don't buy motorcycles to have to constantly WORK on them. I buy them to RIDE! I like to RIDE because it's ALL about the RIDE! It's about the JOUNEY... NOT the destination! And I buy the ones that are DEPENDABLE and WELL-BUILT and don't COST me a lot of money just because of "the name" on it. Like the Expensive Leather boots, coats, vests, and chaps, with the "Official Harley-Davidson Logo" on them that are ALL "Made in Pakistan" (the country of OUR ENEMY)! Over the years, I've owned that 1 Harley, a couple Kawasaki's, a Triumph, several Yamaha's and even more Honda's. I considered buying a couple BMW's and Suzuki's but never bought one. I've owned 3 Goldwing's (a 1979, 1982, & 1985) and a few Honda 750-Four's and 550-Four's and Yamaha Virago's. For 50 years I've been more of a fan of Honda's and Yamaha's. I bought this 2016 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager VN1700, and after putting 1,000 miles on it in the last 3 weeks, I think this one is my "New ALL-TIME Favorite!" I like it even better than the Yamaha 1700 that some woman rear-ended because she obviously was NOT "Paying Attention." Either she was not paying attention to her driving, OR she was too old and had too many health issues to be a "Competent & SAFE" driver! Either way, I got 2 broken ribs a badly sprained shoulder and 2 large hematoma's on my legs and "my Favorite" bike now Totaled because of her. But I thank GOD that I'm not dead, and my body is healing, and I'll be okay. And for those who like to "boast" that "Harley's are Made in AMERICA!" Correction, Harley's are "Assembled" in AMERICA, using MANY Communist Chinese made parts! There are several models of Honda's and Yamaha's (and some other "Jap bikes") that are also "Assembled" in AMERICA! But they're built with Japanese AND AMERICAN made parts. Japan is "OUR" ally! China is "OUR" ENEMY! I'll buy from (and financially support) those who are MY FRIEND & ALLY rather than those who are MY ENEMY!
I grew up riding Suzukis and Hondas. I own a Harley now but only because it’s a Harley. My Suzukis and Hondas were much more reliable and cheaper to maintain. Plus Harley dealers are the worst. I finally have a Harley but won’t buy another.
@@scarystories190 you can buy a chopped TP for pretty cheap and it looks way better than the Voyager one. Fit's the lines better for sure. Paint match and you're likely under $1k
Per Kawasaki, the tank volume is 5.3 Gallons (relatively small). MPG entirely depends on how you ride but expect about 30-35. Your question about the gear is better answered by someone who owns this bike long term. I only spent a day with it and no issues with its 3rd gear. Thanks for watching!!
Absolutely a knockoff of Harley, but they did it right for the most part. The engine and transmission is bullet proof, the rear suspension is much better. And it’s cheaper than the over priced Harley. Ps I’ll put my voyager/vaquero to any road glide be it slow race, police course or a quarter mile.
I own a 23 Voyager and a 23 Vulcan 900 Custom. My first bike was a KLR. I wouldnt suggest a 900 lb bike as a first only because it steepens the learning curve. The smaller, more manageable and more forgiving 900 will not highlight your mistakes as much
I had a Kawasaki Versys 650 then went to the Versys 1000. Love the Versys 1000 because it sits me upright. I am 6ft 4 in. Both of them fit me well. Great bikes!!
Thanks for warning and your question! I would invite any owners here to provide their testimonies of their max speeds. I was unable to test this bike for safety reasons.
Its a better bike than a Harley - Japanese reliability and a significantly lower in price than a Harley especially in Canada. The performance of the Kawi engine can also be improved significantly with a fairly low cost reflash.
I like the Doug vibe, I like the detail, I appreciate the editing and the whole video was great. But PLEASE move around a LOT less, the quick frantic movements (especially in the begining) is so distracting. If you could chill out physically, this video would be 10/10.
just update the stereo? pretty simple, most Toyota buyers have to do the same thing to get apple carplay/Android auto to their 2022 vehicles which was almost widely available since 2014. Plus to get "that" option on a Harley road glide is $13,488 Dollars more where I am just for a simple radio update, I might as well Buy 2 vaqueros
They are some nice bikes, but Kawasaki needs to get on the ball and update a few things such as the stereo, LED lighting, and I think the saddlebags should be top opening. LED lighting is a safety upgrade that should be standard on EVERY bike from every manufacturer. They could still do these things and the bike would still be affordable. Lighting and the Stereo being that antiquated is inexcusable if you ask me.
@@maximus11400 Replacing the lighting with LEDs is maybe a $100-200 difference in cost. A decent head unit and speakers may increase it by $500. It's not pushing it over 20k. In fact, if they went to an all digital display with gauges and head unit, they wouldn't go over 20k. The top loading bags are already on the Voyager and mount the exact same way, it's no cost to them. They don't sell a massive amount of these. I can easily find new unused 2021 models for 15k. An unused HD RG is selling for 25k easy most places, even last years model.
Hey Emad, i wonder if its possible for you to review the Aprilia RS 660, its a motorcycle thats been out for a few years now but its quite interesting how they kinda changed the mid weight sportbike game 😄

I have a 21 Harley Road Glide and a 2014 Vulcan Vaquero 1700 SE. I love them both, although I will say my Harley has more power and handles way better than my Vaquero. It's just facts. Kawasaki literally has done nothing but change colors since 2011 and believe me I tricked out my Vaquero with about as much as you can do.
HD is the American old-school typewriter with all electronics made in Milwaukee by union workers. Well, Who installed it? Hopefully, you didn't get one made on Friday..
Yeah I think it's the biggest fault of this or any Jap cruiser, there just isn't enough of a savings over Indian or HD. Used these would be a great option though, if you can find one.
There is a brand new one of these near me right now, brand new 2023, $13k, over $6k off sticker. I would never consider this bike for $18k. The depreciate bath would be massive at full price. Still probably hard to sell used regardless.

There is no actual data I can find to substantiate that a Kawasaki will outlast or is more reliable than a Harley "based on Kawasaki's track record." I've persoanlly seen both have their share of great and bad examples. From my personal experience, the Kawasaki is cheaper to maintain and own. But also, both deliver unique and compelling value propositions.
There are quite a few sources out there indicating Kawasaki’s superiority of any measurable factor (cost of ownership, MSRP, warranty coverage, cost of parts, etc.) over Harley. Other less measurable stuff like long term reliability and looks would have to come from long term owners of these types of bikes. Going through various forums, Kawasaki appears to have far fewer problems than HD. Just google: “reliability, harley kawasaki” and go through the websites that pop up. I cannot testify the sources are credible, but unfortunately that’s all I got to check for info. As for the looks, it is a subjective topic. I personally like the look of Harleys more.
The Vaquero does not even come close to the Harley when it comes to refinement. You should have left it with it is a bargain bagger that is great for its price point.
Kawasaki vulcans stand on their own....quit making comparisons to overpriced, underengineered harleys... Its just as valid to say..the harley is an unjustifiably expensive vulcan.

Kawasaki bikes stand on their own merit...sick of the constant comparisons with HD actually..
Jus' sayin'!
Comparison is the secret ingredient to improvement!
So…
…it’s not a Harley.
But, it doesn’t cost “Harley Money”.
Personally, there are some great bikes out there that are much better than either of these two options.
The 2022 Goldwing (Bagger)
The 2022 BMW 1800B
…or get a nice previously owned bike for a fraction of the money and find the one that suits your style.
Speaking from experience, there is nothing like a “New to Me” bike every Spring. 😁
Thank you for providing your thorough insight! Hoping that individuals interested in this bike can benefit from your comment:)
Love the look on the Vaquero.
I have a 21 and at first I hated the KACT but after a couple “oh shit” moments it’s really grown on me. Great bike and you get a lot for your money
I never felt it in action. But then again, I only rode it for 20 ish miles.
I have a 2019 and love no problems at all.
Overdrive is a gear ratio in the transmission not something they mapped into the ECU.
I’ve been looking to upgrade from my shadow 750. After some comparisons this Kawi is in the running as my upgrade. The equivalent in HD or Indian is out of my reach. I’m not a 1%er or a brand guy.
The fake vents are just spots to add extra lights. Which I did.
But a Harley it most definitely is not
True, but a Harley is in no way as good as an Indian. I have both 19' SDH and HD heritage, the Indian brings happiness and the Harley brings headaches
Recently went to look at a 2024. Nice bike but I couldn’t get past the lack of GPS, Bluetooth, and those terrible side bags. I passed.
At times I thought I was listening to Borat explain the motorcycle to me. Loving my '23 Voyager! Thanks for the video.
Hey Borat is my favorite! Hope you enjoyed the video
Seems they gave hime a free Harley
Question is how much did Harley pay you 😅
you add a reliable GPS, and not pay for the unreliable frustrating electronics of the upscale bikes, its a great value
Can’t beat the price with a stick for sure!
Would be awesome to see how this stacks up against the Indian Challenger and the Honda Goldwing
Those are both better bikes, but much more expensive.
Hi guys, but this motorcycle is available only for Usa? Because on the site in Europe I can't see to catalog.
And for those who like to "boast" that "Harley's are Made in AMERICA!"
Correction, Harley's are "Assembled" in AMERICA, using MANY Communist Chinese made parts!
Kawasaki should at least offer an updated infotainment unit
It has its own fanbase. But I’d definitely get another bike if I’m not too into this whole “retro” design philosophy.
Good to see a combined arm waving, dancing and motorcycle review combined. I was exhausted by the end of the video.😅
I try to get a workout out of my videos
Great review , thorough
That bike has nice slip on exhaust.
They need an optional tour pack and this bike would be even better than it already is.
The same bike with the tour pack, is the Kawasaki Voyager.
@@christopher7310 I like paint schemes on the vaquero better.
@@scarystories190 you can buy a chopped TP for pretty cheap and it looks way better than the Voyager one. Fit's the lines better for sure. Paint match and you're likely under $1k
not being broke down is a major plus, you can always get a GPS
is 3rd gear fixed yet? what is mpg? how large is fuel tank?
Per Kawasaki, the tank volume is 5.3 Gallons (relatively small). MPG entirely depends on how you ride but expect about 30-35. Your question about the gear is better answered by someone who owns this bike long term. I only spent a day with it and no issues with its 3rd gear. Thanks for watching!!
40-44 mpg and I ride it like a sportbike
Beautiful Kawa!!!!!!
The font is from American Muscle cars from the 60s and 70s
Absolutely a knockoff of Harley, but they did it right for the most part. The engine and transmission is bullet proof, the rear suspension is much better. And it’s cheaper than the over priced Harley. Ps I’ll put my voyager/vaquero to any road glide be it slow race, police course or a quarter mile.
Thanks for watching!
This man is an interesting speaker. He knows the subject well. Like it.
Thank you for the kind words!
Is this a good first bike? I was thinking of buying the Vulcan 900 classic LT for my first bike
I own a 23 Voyager and a 23 Vulcan 900 Custom. My first bike was a KLR. I wouldnt suggest a 900 lb bike as a first only because it steepens the learning curve. The smaller, more manageable and more forgiving 900 will not highlight your mistakes as much
I agree with Rich. This bike is a bit too heavy. If you want a starter cruiser try to see if you like the new Kawi Eliminator.
I had a Kawasaki Versys 650 then went to the Versys 1000. Love the Versys 1000 because it sits me upright. I am 6ft 4 in. Both of them fit me well. Great bikes!!
They have a new one on clearance for 17999 near me. For that price its a steal
You should test ride it.
@@emadreviews I've ridden an older one and like it. The only part I didn't like was the radio and the fact it wasn't easy to upgrade it

No nav available on this model year.
How does the resale compare after about 4 years?
On this bike? Horrible
Who cares, it cost way less and cheaper to maintain
I understand that you can use regular gas in this bike. I wonder if that's true?
What do you mean by regular gas?

That bike needs to be updated
You NAILED the Demuro style my man 👍👍👍 excellent review, thank you! Keep the videos coming.
Glad you enjoyed the video!
I have not reviewed a Harley yet. Maybe I’ll fall in love with one when I do
no blutooth is BS almost a deal breaker.
You can find one of these used with low miles for 6000-7000 bucks. And it will run like brand new.
What about the top speed of 140mph owners say if you have eclipse over 120mph please let me know thank you
Thanks for warning and your question! I would invite any owners here to provide their testimonies of their max speeds. I was unable to test this bike for safety reasons.
Great review!
Thanks for watching!
You really need the ECU to be remapped by IVAN to bring out the heart of the bike.
Doug wants his format back.
I’m borrowing it from him. It’s a good format:)
😂😂😂
This bike just needs to update the radio. USB and get rid of the Aus Jack.
I'd like to see a radio delete kit than a 20 year old radio on a 2023/4 bike. Just ditch it, were probably not gonna use it anyways.😂
Bluetooth & gps please
A new stereo and LED will put the bike over 20k and they will lose massive sales.
@@maximus11400 Nah I disagree. An HD or Indian in that class is near 30 or more, so there's still room.
2 companies make a LED headlamp conversion and led turn signal bulbs with built in resisters are all over Amazon.
A road glide that you don't have to build the motor and suspension when u by it.
Hey Emad, i wonder if its possible for you to review the Aprilia RS 660, its a motorcycle thats been out for a few years now but its quite interesting how they kinda changed the mid weight sportbike game 😄
Sure thing. I’ll put it on my list of bikes to review!
Thank you so much, youre a great reviewer and im loving your videos, keep up the good work👌@@emadreviews
...like there's something wrong with being so successful, so good at what you do, you've actually created "a cheap Harley," you've 'out Harleyed Harley?'
Whoa doggies.
"All the bits and bobs and gadgets," I think you meant to say "All of it's quirks and features."
I do my best to avoid copyrighted phrases like: “THISSSS” and “All of it’s quirks and features”
😂😂😂😂
HD is the American old-school typewriter with all electronics made in Milwaukee by union workers. Well, Who installed it? Hopefully, you didn't get one made on Friday..
someone has definitely been checking Demuro XD - great presentation though!
Thanks for watching!
God I love this bike! Good job Kawasaki!
With all the saving you can just do some upgrades
True that!
I have heated grips on my Vaquero....
1:29 If I am only saving $4000 then I'm buying the HD....
Yup. Just on the resale value
Actually, BOTH 5th and 6th are “overdrive”.
I wonder what Los Vaqueros MC has to say about this lol
I’ll keep my goldwing
Nothing equal to the Wing!
Why does everybody that don’t own a Harley seem bitter at them? That skit at the end is bs 24:00 you talk shit on the bike that that one is built to imitate, 🤦♂️ and that bike cost as much as a basic road glide when it’s all said and done.
Harleys are great bikes! But as a challenge, leave a link to a 2023 Harley Road Glide here that’s close to the price of this bike.
Imitate ?? Indian was first in 1901....then Harley imitated Indian in 1903...Do your homework properly . Harleys are just copies...sorry☝️....😂 i mean very overpriced copies of the original. Look at the price of a sportster.....its hilarious 😂😂😂😂

L O L, you didn’t look very hard.
Well then - enlighten me with your data sir Lol Dog Man
Anything built on a Japanese assembly line is most likely more reliable than an American made product. Just the way it's always been.
i like this guy, lets hope he does well as he is very entertaining
needs an update,
Far more reliable than the Harley Davidson! People who buy HD buy an image, not a motorcycle 😅
The Vaquero does not even come close to the Harley when it comes to refinement. You should have left it with it is a bargain bagger that is great for its price point.
I don’t care for phone connection. If you want it put it in your helmet. I honestly see no downside to this bike.
The Kawasaki is not gonna overheat or blow up at 50,000 miles
There's nothing cheap about that bike that box around eighteen nineteen thousand dollars
Kawasaki vulcans stand on their own....quit making comparisons to overpriced, underengineered harleys...
Its just as valid to say..the harley is an unjustifiably expensive vulcan.
