Bought one of these maybe 15 years ago, when they first came out. I've found it to be a go to sander for many projects. Great complement to a band saw or any curved projects. It has lasted fine. This is NOT a $1000 tool. At times you may wish for more power. But you're not in a hurry, right? The table is "ok" and the tilt does come in handy too. As a home craftsman, I recommend this tool

Love this sander now. At first I had a problem with the tightening knob/nut. The motor torque really tightens the hold down nut. I had to use pliers to remove it and wrecked the rubber knob. Luckily I have a metal lathe. I had some 1” hex steel rod turned part of it round and bought a left hand tap. Now I can put a wrench on it to remove it, easy Peazy.

I went through the same thing. In the end I'm glad I went with the Ridgid 2 in 1. I use the belt a lot more than I thought I would.
While not cheap, it takes the place of more industrial versions that cost thousands more. And if you went with the Wen spindle sander but decided later to add the Porter Cable belt sander, you'd be spending $110 more for both and take up more valuable space in the shop.
After owning and using the Ridgid, I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Honest feedback: For a review I'd need to see things like how square is the table to the belt, can it be calibrated, and does it hold that calibration? Is the table secure or does it flex? Same with the spindle: Does it stay plum with normal pressure or does it deflect?

The LSA for Ridgid is a bit of fools gold. Yeah it sounds awesome, but it's a bummer if there's major delays because they are constantly fixing things. I have the rigid table saw and really like it but the gears that move the blade up and down are make of plastic and is a known issue and got stripped out. The upshot it all was I was without a tablesaw for over 2 months as they had a shortage or parts to fix the issue. I'd rather have tools that don't break, than have an LSA. It's like Harbor Freight and their warranty. How much benefit do you get when you constantly have to drive to the store to get a new wrench, screwdriver, etc?

It’s good until you want or need to take advantage of the LSA. They want $30 just to take the machine, and in my case my local HD where I purchased it would not accept it back to repair it when the belt assembly broke. They sent me to another HD far away for repairs. No thanks to ridgid garbage again. When it breaks, it’s basically a paperweight.

Have you had any issues with your sander shocking you (static electricity)? I bought one of these (been wanting one for a while, and this video pushed me over the edge - thanks a bunch), love it dearly, but the static is eating me alive. I have mostly used the belt attachment. If I have an arm resting on the table to hold my material in place, it feels like my arm is on top of an ant bed. I've checked for any loose debris on the table (none). I am using the concrete floor dust collection system, so it isn't that (I didn't even have my shop vac plugged in). None of my other tools are doing this to me!

I'm looking to speed up sanding on 2x4 straight 2x4s for making farmhouse furniture etc. Is this any good for that with the belt? Sander

Seen people post on youtube and Facebook saying that ridgid's lifetime service agreement isn't the greatest people say ridgid will try anything to deny claims

=Have had ridgid battery tools for many years. Have never had any trouble with the lifetime warranty. Batteries were replaced just by calling the number they give you. Hammer drill was taken to service dealer and repaired in several weeks. No problem getting it fixed.

I used the lifetime warranty for the first time recently. Have the hand vacuum and the propeller exploded. Called them up and they sent me a new one in a couple weeks. Easy to do.... Just took some time to get here. Not sure how much due to pandemic issue.

They should design this so that the platform is rotatable along the xy axis 💀
