      Hi Angel. You will want to double check your jurisdiction. I'm in GA and they require a certificate of insurance when applying. I always suggest you send all documents at one time as they told me if anything is missing you have to resend all documents, including the document missing in the original submission. Hope this helps!

    Could I start operating without waiting for this IRP registration? I mean to file everything, and don't wait 10 days?

    How much does the irp plate cost? Are there yearly renewal fees? Trying to weigh getting my on plate vs getting plate from company I’m leasing to

      @jermaineknox1092 IRP plates are annual renewal (same as plates on a car). It's not a set price across the board so I can't give you an exact price, but below is what we paid initially and then upon renewal. You can also contact your state for more info.
      Our plates in GA were $840 which was from Feb (date registered) until Aug (expiration date). Upon renewal it was $1,445. If you get the plate through the company you're leased onto then you wouldn't have to come up with the entire amount at once; they'd probably just deduct a set amount each time they pay you (that's how most companies do it). I'd check with the company your leased to as they can provide you the cost as well.
      Basically do you want to pay the full amount now or have it deducted. Hope this provides some clarity.

    I have a question,i need my own irp tag to lease under someone else’s authority,what insurance do i need? My bobtail? Or their insurance certificate?

    • @staceyownsnothing
      @staceyownsnothing  Год назад

      It may depend on what the company you're leased on to requires. For example, you'll need one million in bodily/injury/property/damage and like $100k in cargo coverage. Some may require trailer insurance. Typically when you call an insurance company they'll tell you what is required for your jurisdiction. You can call a couple and get quotes and then go with the amount that best fits your budget. Also, just as a heads up... typically, your first year will be more expensive and then the renewal will be lower.

      @@staceyownsnothing im talking about insurance to get my irp plate,can i do it with my bobtail insurance?

    • @staceyownsnothing
      @staceyownsnothing  Год назад

      @thelab59 If you're in GA, you can check the insurance requirements here, dor.georgia.gov/irp-insurance-requirements. If you're hauling you'll definitely need more than bobtail insurance though.

      I'd reach out to who you're leased under and see their requirements. You might be able to get a tag through them.

      Peace. Have you tried calling or emailing GA DOR for IRP? They're pretty good about answering questions. Their email is: Commercial.Vehicles@DOR.GA.GOV... you can also go to dor.georgia.gov/new-georgia and get some info on the steps.

    I got a question can I am trying to do just my title only and I am going to lease on to a company and use their US DOT number. Do I the company name and dot info?

    • @staceyownsnothing
      @staceyownsnothing  2 года назад

      Hi. I don't fully overstand your question so I'll just say that if you're the one purchasing the truck in your company name then this is your truck, not the carrier you plan to lease on with.
