Hey bro, first off good luck! Second, just some suggestions for the series, and the trip.
Black out that outward facing cardboard so you can stealth camp without people knowing you’re in there sleeping. The cardboard is a little obvious, and you might get run off.
Lastly, I see you got some stubble going! We need a no shave before and after Alaskan beard!
That’s a great point with the cardboard. I’m going to do that today and grab some black poster board or something to glue to them. Thanks!

I can't adequately explain how excited I am for this. Road trips and Adventures like this are my passion and I've done many myself. I drove from PEI Canada to Vancouver Island BC. I did an on foot and train mission across a big part of western Europe. So these kinds of trips are 100% my thing. You'll have an incredible time man. Ive been a supporter of yours since you started trucking and ill be a fan through whatever you want to do. Good luck!!
Dave on a nomad's trip to Alaska... wow! So cool! I could absolutely imagine you doing something like this part time. Van/nomad life channels are exploding in popularity. Full time seems to get lonely but those who transitioned to part time nomad life seem to be loving it.
Haven't watched your videos in a minute. i got my cdl watching your videos in 2020. i drove my pops 3 weeks ago to his home town everett pennsylvania in a 92 gladiator g20 from phx az the van did good but i had problems in new Mexico coming back made it to payson going up a big hill shot flames out the exhaust like a flame thrower lol the distributor blew up whenever your taking and older vehicle your going to have problems wish you luck safe travels hammer down 🤙
Hey Dave good luck on your journey to Alaska in that beater. I would suggest getting your motherboard changed that should definitely get all those lights and gadgets and bells and whistles turned off on your dash. Think this trip will be great for your mental health from that last video you posted. Again kudos on the journeys you seek ahead.

this is insane but i love it dude! you are doing the impossible. honestly no way i'd go to Alaska lol. you could get a car inverter and plug in fans if its hot in the car. just an idea
It's nice to be able to lay down to sleep but I also found it comfortable sleeping in the driver seat, just tilting the backrest some.
Windshield sun shield, easy in, easy out. Lock the doors. 9mmotivator handy or whatever.
Be careful Dave! Do you have a satellite phone to call for help in the wilderness? Looking forward to this series!

Here in New Zealand I filled up today . Was NZ$ 3.05 per Litre for 95 octane

I love my 2003 Focus - it will get you there! Mine is also a manual transmission. I don't want to give it up!
I would’ve suggested picking up a 12V fan could take the edge off anyways trying to sleep in the car unless you’re 12V outlets don’t work with your ignition off

Dave ever consider one of those small desk like fans, that have a cigarette lighter plug to help cool you off a little while sleeping? There only about 15-20 bucks I believe...

I'm surprised your mom didn't rant about the Canadians as well. After all, you're likely to spend more time in Canada than Alaska. It's a long trip. As for sleeping, get one of those 12V car fans. That will help.

Hey Dave, I am a recent viewer of yours, but I love the trucking content you've posted over while. While you are driving to Alaska, you've inspired me to make a 400 mile trip from the Florida Panhandle to South Carolina to go see my buddy graduate from Marines Boot Camp. I've been stressing all over with my car, despite being in good condition, but this is setting aside my worries if you are doing this trip all the way to Alaska.

Been watching your videos since you were trucking! You make the videos fun, and have great angles and views of your trips! That’s probably why you have a good fan base! Also I’ve been to Juneau and pelican Alaska. Stayed in pelican for two weeks. Only way in is by boat or plane. Little town on a side of a mountain!

ok few tips on the svt focus dave.... they burn coolant just a thing..... and they are a high compression motor run premium!!!! she will run WAY WAY smoother.... also from experience watch the upper rad hose, mine blew the hose on the bottom and under the hose is a void to the road its not gonna get any coolant on anything hot if it blows that hose.... blew my motor cause of it.
also $800 is a steal for that car if it is a true svt tho most of the money comes from the body kit which looks like is gone....

Good luck, Dave! I would love to do a trip like that but fly to Florida and buy a vehicle to drive to Alaska, then sell it once I was done. In 2012, I did get to drive from Oregon to Virginia, and that was pretty sweet!
As an SVT owner, these cars are pretty solid. But if that timing belt tensioner breaks, you're done. These cars have an interference motor. Safe travels!
