I live where LONE STAR was filmed, so I can fully relate! I owned the DVD before ever living here, and have never found a better-written, better-acted, nor especially better-filmed movie than this. It's a mystery that keeps you guessing, with compelling characters, and the transitions between the many previous-generation flashbacks and modern day are among the most masterfully shot things you've ever seen on a screen. Not only are they things of directorial beauty, but they serve to keep the viewer unconfused. Then there's McConaughey before he was famous!

Charlie Rose appears not to have seen the film before he conducted this interview. Still good to see Sayles and his actors talking in-depth about it.

Poor Charlie. Not quite as long-winded as he usually was, but still not really listening to what his guests are saying.
