Kruthi on ‘Thula’si in Saveri ! As Guruvarya handles, it becomes a ‘Thula Kaveri’ snanam for a true rasika. Both Sahithya and Swara vinyasas takes us to peak of parisudhdha bhawa .
Today 16/11/21 being Uttana Dwadhasi listening to this. Saint Thygaraja is a very good example of a GURU. He has shown light on many hidden virtues in the vedas and puranas - that for simple folks who can appreciate it with ragam. BMK is a legend who later again did the same that is bring to light (may be ears) all rare keerthanas of the Saint during cassette boom. I always fall for Roopaka thala and this was no exception and sublime saveri adds to the flavour. Thanks for all the efforts.
Wonderful commentary 🙏. There is no doubt that St Tyagaraja was probably in such a state of mind that anything he felt drew him closer to his Rama was a subject in his compositions. Beautiful rendition by BMK & so is the picture you made for this
Lovely choice of rendition. On the top of it the research of sreenivasagaru on Thyagaraja Swami's Saveri compositions is superb. Your efforts to remaster old concerts and select pieces of lovely kritis and the accompanying research backed essays is unparalleled. No words to express. God bless you. Posterity will ever be thankful to your painstaking efforts 🙏
Murthy sir. Thank you so much for your insighful commentary on Thyagaraja's compositions. I believe in the upanishadvakyam (from Mahanarayana upanishad) "thasmin yadantastya tadupasathavyam". While we begin communicating with the world outside, gradually as one gets older and wiser, we get to identify ourselves. This composition, as you wrote, is an example of the Saint's introspection. Topped by BMK's voice and the kalpana swaras, we are indeed transported into ecstasy. Once again thank you sir for this wonderful gift on a leisurely Sunday morning.🙏
Namaste Sreenivasa Murthy garu. I remember reading somewhere that Sri Tyagaraja Swamy was a great admirer of Sri Purandara Dasa. Could it be that he was inspired by the great saint as Purandara Dasa has composed several songs on Tulasi and the importance of Tulasi in daily pooja. Please see madhwafestivals.com/2016/09/01/dasara-padagalu-on-tulasi/. Just a thought.....
