+mangrove jack bloody oath!! I'd get him to sign the car too. At least he'd be able to say his car has been driven how it should by an absolute legend!!
I dont care what team you bat for, if that doesnt give you goosebumps and a smile, you dont appreciate classic aussie muscle! Ford and Holden both mean a lot to Australian car culture and its darn right awesome!
The way the steering is tuned makes corner entry quicker and at the limit is far more composed plus it holds the line with so much more composure. 2. The suspension is a lot more compliant, the front strut design is different and when going over bumps etc you hardly feel them or they are much better controlled as suspension is faster reacting. Especially when modifying the suspension you will notice that on a holden and a HSV with the exact same setup the HSV will always handle and ride
Good car control!!! I'd love to see him push the SUPERCLUBBY around Lang Lang that wld be a great video. Incar ,outside ,and looking across steer and drive tyres and being well edited to give the best view to us dreamers hahaha hurry up and make that vid skaifey
Awesome car. I have the VZ R8 which is better again than this. Better steering and turn in behaviour and slightly lower front end weight as the ls2 engine is lighter than the ls1. What a lot of people don't know is the actual reasons why HSV is much better than holden. A lot say you pay extra just for the kits and better engine. The truth is you pay extra because HSV vehicles are much better tuned. Firstly the steering is far better, much sharper and quicker to respond along with more feedback
4 comments down! think he does lose control, or mabey nearly, but he's extremely hard into the corner. Awesome driving SKAIFE .. you Legend . top video dude.
noticeably better. Then you have the things like brakes and tyres which are easy to pick out. You also have a lot more clearance in the front struts in case you ever want to dial in some extra camber to aid handling further. My own vehicle is fully modified with shocks springs, sway bars etc, and still rides so well. It's very firm but luxurious at the same time because bumps etc are so well damped. (courtesy of bilstein shocks and the R8 strut design)
And yes my car has full suspension upgrade! Nolathane front to back lowerd pedders shocks and springs, strut brace etc.. Manuel And it has no trouble frying the tyres and has a great steering lock for catching it, But It still feels a bit unco, but if it was in a track like this might be diffrent, no tree's etc... Maby i'm just used to the old school non power steering! But They still wicked fun car to drive! And sick donuts ;) But not to much of that these day's and if i do its in the sticks
And as far as value for money goes, and I'm guessing you may hate this comment, Toyota GT86/Subi BRZ!!! Holy shit! Not fast at all but doesnt need to be. They are a truly spectacular drivers car. So so complete and sorted. Totally no practicality at all but as far as a rewarding drive goes, not much under $120k can go close!
I was replying to some other tool who commented on this video saying 'NOW THATS THE WAY YOU LEAVE A MACCAS CAR PARK'...Are you kidding..Mark Skaife is a legend man, nothing wrong with doing this on a track...Not on a fricking public road though... Misunderstanding there I think...
I drive a 2003 WK V8 Caprice with SS cold air induction and a K&N Filter. Puts out about 275kw. Have had it up to 231km. Would have gone faster but road was ending..... not a good thing lol
only 15 years, yeah im a sparky so its just a hobby, got a few vids on here, but just sold my vy ss work ute and clubsport R8 and gold 10sec VL sedan to buy another house and 2speed into wagon etc. but just enjoying my 6 weeks holidays now....
It would be a whole lot higher than any other NA 6 ever produced in Australia. That being said, tell me what the Chev LS would be without it's ridiculously large displacement..
I have yet to drive one that ticks all the boxes and is more than the sum of its parts. The new supercharged Walkinshaw stuff and Miami V8 in the fords are spectacular power plants but the chasis on both FPV and HSV never feel up to the task.Im lucky enough to drive loads of excellent cars and unfortunately, all the Aussie stuff just feels like lots of excellent bits bolted together rather than a complete harmonious unit.Yes they can be fast and corner and brake but its the way they do it.
Thats alright mate. No worries. Everyone has their own taste. May I ask why you dOnt like hsv. What are the reasons? Is it Handling, braking build quality?
does anyone know the correct temperature settings for a performance 160 degree thermostat on an LS2 V8 engine using EFI live software? Im after the temp for fan to turn on and fan to turn off. My tuner cant get it right. would appreciate someones help. cheers
Just to let you all know I have one of these my self and the beeping noise is the shift alarm meaning you are supposed to change up a gear. There is no way i would thrash my car like that though
yes build quality is much better, I Have a VX SS and my mate just bought a VZ Ls2 R8 auto, I drove it and its like 50 years better, Im going to get a manual R8 in a few months now so much better!
im sure there are other people out here like me :)........ its just a car. and they both finish the race so they have to be pretty good cars. no need to get so violent about how much better one is then the other. because there both as good as each other. .
I got a vx putting out just under 300rwk its a fun car to drive with that power (i know its not the fastest one out there but 300rwk still feel prity punchy and i dont get beaten by many cars on the street but every now and then something quick will scare me or give ass wooping, The car is a great every day driver but it feels fucked to cut up in, The steering fights you, and have trouble feeling where the front wheels are, My vk loves it! The vx nicer to drive but bad car for drifting etc...
i love it how he just jumps in the commodore and says "...285 kw, lets see what this thing goes like"
and just fuckin rips it up LOL
Haha, Love it, he jumps straight in and spins it. No better driver in the V8's today.
I am a Ford Man at heart, But as we all know..........A naturally aspirated v8 is alot more fun than a forced induction 6. Loving this car.
mate of mine just bought a clubsport. i wish the camera guy would keep his fucking hand steady
Does he still have the car?
@@matteo_syd7271apparently he wrote it off 😢
dam i love when professional race car drivers have fun in cars like this :D i didnt know Mark Skaife could drift so well!

Ha ha..someone bought this as a demo later on.
Demo driven by mark skaife yes please, at least it was thrashed fluently and not some dero that flogged the clutch and driveline
+mangrove jack bloody oath!! I'd get him to sign the car too. At least he'd be able to say his car has been driven how it should by an absolute legend!!
Yep and is worth more than any ford can ever be in the same year of manufacturing, LMFAO. :)
The salesman said 'it had only been driven by a little old lady to the shops once a week!!'
I dont care what team you bat for, if that doesnt give you goosebumps and a smile, you dont appreciate classic aussie muscle! Ford and Holden both mean a lot to Australian car culture and its darn right awesome!
This video would make a great tv ad, everyone would buy one. Awesome car.

🔥
Great Driver on V8 Super Cars. And Im From UK.
I can just imagine the smell in the air right at the end. The smell of heaven
its great to see a pro show what these cars can really do. i'd never be game to do this with my v8
skaife needs to enter drifting in one of these
The way the steering is tuned makes corner entry quicker and at the limit is far more composed plus it holds the line with so much more composure.

Skaifie is a LEGEND!!
Skaife and Lowndes should present Aussie Top Gear :)
@snakecapers you are so true with that saying, "no replacement for displacement"
Good car control!!! I'd love to see him push the SUPERCLUBBY around Lang Lang that wld be a great video. Incar ,outside ,and looking across steer and drive tyres and being well edited to give the best view to us dreamers hahaha hurry up and make that vid skaifey
I love the giggle @ 0:59, sounds so childish and that's what these cars do to you :D

Awesome car. I have the VZ R8 which is better again than this.

Lighten up ladies, it's just a bloke in a holden havin some fun.
It would be a whole lot higher than any other NA 6 ever produced in Australia.
That being said, tell me what the Chev LS would be without it's ridiculously large displacement..
It looks like he loses control on the last corner and there is a re-edit of the footage. Has anyone else noticed?
Where is this car now?????
i like both of these cars im not taking sides but the hsv has another 3.2 ltrs of capacity and another 2 cylinders
