    Well done Phil, it’s a pity the whiting weren’t a bit bigger, they are good eating too. I usually tape those tip lights on as the little clips can come off during the cast. Try to get some of the kiddies light sticks, you can get them 6-12 inch long, much cheaper than the tackle shop. Good to see your getting out and about. Tight lines👍🎣

      Thanks for the tip ref the light sticks. I was getting plenty of little knocks on the rod tip - an improvement on the first video when I blanked. Just need to et into bigger fish now. Everyday a school day, learning all the time with the shore fishing. Phil.

      Thanks for watching and putting me right on the Whiting. I may need to try bigger baits to deter them as they weren’t the target species. I’ll be back on that beach next year.

    Thats defo a whiting - and great to see as not been prolific on these shores - might have to try a livebait rig!!! Probs best to fish a scratching rig on a second rig to start with to ensure the whiting are actually around, if proven you could either fish a dedicated livebait rig (bit like a carp hair rig style Phil) or fish a pennell rig with a small lower hook - idea being the baitfish can get snared on the smaller hook and be left to entice a decent cod! Great video and lots of food for thought!!! Thanks Phil

      Thanks, certainly plenty of ideas for the future as I learn more about sea fishing and these N E Scotland shores. Thanks for watching and commenting. Phil.

      Glad you enjoyed it. I reckon a Cod needs to be three pounds or so to have any meat on it - they are all head. I'll be going back for another try. More videos to come in 2024. Thanks for your support this year. All the best to you mate.

    The wee lights work better for me when i get rid of the plastic tube and loop them on with small elastic bands. NIce vid. That can be a great beach to fish, usually the day before I go though! Thanks!

      Thanks for the comments. I know what you mean, so often I’m told “you should have been here yesterday” etc. Good idea on the tip lights, I’ll give that a try. Tight lines Phil.

      Thanks. I agree some of those small fish could have been Whiting. I need to swot up on my fish ID skills. There’s definitely potential for some good size Cod off that beach. All the best, see you next year. Phil

      Thanks, I'm impressed how the new microphones cut the sound of the waves crashing in the background even without using the noise cancel feature. In previous videos in a similar situation the waves drowned out my voice. Wind noise has been significantly reduced too.

      Thanks Pal, I get Cod on the sabiki's when I fish from the kayak or boat - usually tip them with a little mackerel or squid.

    I'm off there tomorrow (17 Oct 24). Nice to see Whiting off there. I'll be fishing daytlight so not too hopeful but the sea has been churning the last few days so you never know.

    • @anotherangleUK
      @anotherangleUK  3 дня назад

      Good luck. I've fished there during the day. It can be patchy but I have had Codling during the day. If the sea is running, mind it doesn't bury your lines - those round stones move about a lot. Let us know how you get on. Phil

      That's not good to hear 😲 I kind of expected you might lost a rig or lead or two but not wreck a rod and reel. Hopefully you get some more tackle sorted and back out again soon. Phil.
      PS: Fortunately it's just a visit to the tackle shop and not A & E .........

    Well done Phil, not the big fish you wanted for us but great effort! How did the Advanta rod perform? I got one when they were on a really good deal at Angling Direct. Haven't had chance to use it yet but hoping to later next year. Thanks for the channel fella and I hope you and your family nave a cracking Christmas 👍Paz

    • @anotherangleUK
      @anotherangleUK  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks, hope you have a great break too. I’m not sure how qualified I am to give a rod review having little to compare it with. That said I think for the money it’s good value. It is rather bendy but that works well for smaller species like flounder etc. It probably wouldn’t cast 6ozs into the Norwegian sector but most fishing here is a short lob. I’m happy with how it works. If I was on Northumbrian rough ground a stiffer rod would be more suited to that style of fishing. There, my first review??? 😃
