Thank you so much Jessie! I worked my version off of the 5 verses of lyrics I found but I also kinda wish I added a few more :) Appreciate you listening!
It's really interesting to see the variations you developed over the same repeated melody throughout your cover. As you went along, you gave this tune more color with your accompaniment and harmonic variations, and also with the fillers you added in between melodic lines. Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas on how to develop variations over the same melody. This is such an eye-opening piano variations cover.
Wow! I am learning to play it now! This arrangement is beyond words! so rich, so uplifting for the soul! I want to go out and start dancing, thank you!!!! Music has power!
Listening to you play this was like listening to a story. It kept getting better and better throughout the song. The choices made were perfect and I really enjoyed your performance 💯. Beautiful job, Jason 🤗❤️🙌🎹
I LOVE this! The variations worked perfectly and I loved the build up through the piece and the dolcissimo ending. Just lovely. It’s a piece that I’ve been asked to play many times (we love an hour from our seaside town called Scarborough) and I love to improvise on Scarborough fair combined with greensleeves. I loved what you did with the harmonies….really unique and creative. Bravo Jason 🎵💛🎵🙏👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😘
Wow ... you have transformed this piece Jason! I must admit I never pay much attention to this one but after listening to your arrangement, it just blew my mind!! You turn everything you play into gold lol!
Beautifully arranged and played - you feel this really deeply and it really shows. I especially liked the reharm variations, but also the way you've arranged and structured the variations works really well!
Hi Jason!! You have done a terrific job on this! I am one of those pianists that like music to start very soft and quiet and then build - and I hear elements of this in the style that you have put together in these variations. You do such a great job of using multiple octaves to express the range of emotion in your playing! Awesome work, my friend!!
Can you please make a tutorial out if it? :) It is soo beautiful and I want to lean it QwQ (but it's almost impossible for me with just watching your hands ^^")
Why does this version sound different than the one on Spotify? and which one does the sheet music correspond do? would like to know before I purchase it. @the chillest
Hi! Sometimes I re-record my RUclips versions to be even more relaxed sounding on Spotify. Otherwise they’re the same arrangement. The sheet music was made to be exactly the same tempo and markings as the RUclips version but it should correspond with the slower Spotify version as well
Thanks for your response! do you have any tips for trying to tackle this as a relative beginner? as in, should I first learn the right hand melody and then incorporate the bass chords? and how do I maintain using the correct fingers for each note?
It definitely wouldn't hurt to learn the hands separately at first, and then incorporate them together at a slower tempo. Then you can work the tempo up a little at a time, working on smaller sections, like each variation, or even just 2-4 measures at a time. As far as fingerings, I don't have those marked on the sheets, but you can watch my hands and use the slow down function built into RUclips to see which fingers I use for any lines where you need help
The castle is Burg Eltz in western Germany for those wondering.
0:58 is that Heaven I hear?? Absolutely mind blowing 💥
This is the most romantic Scarborough Fair piano music ever!
I’m 8 and just started learning piano, this helps me a lot in my music.
Thanks so much, hope you keep learning and practicing!
this is my favorite song! its so soothing yet so beautifully sad
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
Remember me to one who lives there
She once was a true love of mine
Tell her to make me a cambric shirt (in the deep forest green)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested ground)
Without no seams nor needle work
(Bedclothes the child of the mountain)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
(Sleeps unaware of the clarion call)
Tell her to find me an acre of land
(A sprinkling of leaves)
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme
(Washes the grave with silvery tears)
Between the salt water and the sea strands
(And polishes a gun)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather
(Blazing in scarlet battalions)
Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme
(Generals order their soldiers to kill)
And gather it all in a bunch of heather
(A cause they've long ago forgotten)
Then she'll be a true love of mine
