Referees really should start consistently punishing diving and time wasting like this
how would they know the intention of the players
And also faking head injuries
It's too difficult to judge an injury. Diving is an epidemic for sure and often obvious, but often enough it links innocuous until the replay shows a player's taken a knock that probably does hurt and takes a minute to recover from even if not serious.
The worst one is when the keep takes too long to kick. I'd say as soon as the ball comes onto the field back you have 12 seconds to restart play or the opposition gets from the half way line. I don't care if the GKs wants to clear his boots by tapping against the post first.
rules are there to be broken
Lmaoooooo welcome to football in South America, we've been doing that for decades
Saw a great interview with Diego Maradona where he said of the hand of god that deceiving the referee was part of football and broadly accepted in South America. He said you can feint to deceive an opponent player and similarly you can deceive the referee who is part of playing the game.
@@sEaNoYeAh In Brazil, it's not acceptable at all!! For me, Argentinean players are the dirtiest and one of the main reasons S.American football is falling behind the Europeans. It's just too much antics and too many fights/discussions during the matches that it becomes unwatchable sometimes. Wanna fight? We're good at fighting too. But let's do it in the right sport, in the octagon.
Heh, as a Brazilian I respectfully disagree with my compatriot above. If you don't have the guts to face the Bombonera, you shouldn't even sign up for the Libertadores. I'm fully expecting to watch the reenactment of the La Plata Battle next week, Estudiantes x Grêmio. Libertadores is the most thrilling championship to watch, in the world.
@@lenon3579ify nah, it's not, the technical level is depressing, the refereeing is abismally bad, the players dive and complain much more. The only thing that's miles better is the atmosphere on the stadiums. Anyway, I didn't even say that the matches are bad or something like that, I just said we've been doing the infamous "cera", or stalling for time, forever and it's funny seeing it talked about like something new
Lmao, "falling behind the Europeans". Sure that's why Argentina won the wc. The only reason SA football fell behind Europe is money, nothing else
Football coaches have been watching rugby, where Every “injury” is an opportunity for rehydration, coaching on the field (sometimes the waterbearers are sub players with earpieces) and bleeding the clock.
Forget rugby, they’ve been watching Mourinho
or they just have a brain
Teams might be waiting a while to bleed the clock, given that rugby refs pause the time when there's an injury that stops the game 😅
Rassie Erusmus says hello.
Bro “bleeding the clock”? They pause the clock in rugby don’t they?
These "loopholes" about players faking injuries is bad for the game and for players really hurt.
Think the clock should be stopped when the whistle is blown or the ball goes out of play like in rugby. No idea why we haven't changed this already...
💯
It happens so in efootball
Because it would be a compounding problem. Longer games means more likelihood of injuries and stoppages, and more physical exertion for longer, meaning more injuries. Games would easily cross the 3 hour mark, and they'd be slower, as players fight to conserve their fitness.
How about just the last 10 Minutes to full time and maybe 5 Minutes to half time? I recon that's a good compromise
@@mahbluebirdthe game isn’t longer if the time stops, are they still standing there? Yeah but the game will only be 90 minutes still
hmm, what about a temporary substitute? Like the GK can be subbed out until the "injury" is not a problem then get in again, but if "injured" again they must be subbed out?
So many problems in this game could be solved simply by pausing the clock when the ball is out if play, and adjusting game lenght to account for this.
2 halves of 30 minutes each with paused time. Problem solved.
It would also absolutely ruin it with ad breaks and remove the building suspense. I'll take football as it is now over any of the American ad-fests.
@noone-ld7pt Funny how hockey, basketball, futsal, handball, etc. manage to have a stopwatch and no ad breaks. Just because Americans do stupid stuff for money doesn't mean the rest of the world has to.
It's going to take up double the timeslots in TV. So it will end up with triple the ads to make up for it.
@@noone-ld7pt other sports do it without devolving into American football levels of nonsense
In the brazilian league the keepers get injured every 5 minutes (but only when their team is winning, for some reason).
If it gets banned , then they should atleast introduce short breaks or something. This might benefit all
"BREAK HIS KNEECAPS!"
"what"
"BRRAK HIS KNEECAPS!"
Easy solution once the goalkeeper has stopped feigning his injury make a defender leave the field for 30 seconds
Nah an attacker
Suggestion: if goalkeeper is injured, they’ll have to be sidelined and replaced by the substitute goalkeeper during the duration of the sideline, only after the ball went out, can the main goal keeper return and the sub goalkeeper can return to the bench.
It does not count as a used substitution.
On the off chance that no gokeeper is available from the bench (for example the sub goalkeeper is brought in to replace the main goalkeeper due to a sustained injury requiring substitution, and the aub keeper then also getting injured), then team will have to field an outfielder as a temporary goalkeeper until the keeper can return
At the 2021 AFCON, Egyptian keeper Gabaski used this to absorb the pressure from the Moroccan attack who needed to score, by faking an injury and docs entering the field 3-4 times
The importance of momentum. Mourinho was a genius at it. It'd get to the end of a game and the whole team would start rowing tactically
North African clubs have been doing this in Champions League matches for ages ..
Elhany Soliman sends his regards
The game is the game man, every win brings more money & prestige to the club.
I've also noticed alot of players seem to be going down with more head injuries to stop the game when the other team is attacking.
What I would do is implement this rule: players can be only treated on the sideline. The only exemption is when direct medical involvement is needed to save the player's life (e.g. Eriksen Euro 2020). If a player refuses to go to the sideline then the referee would start a timer to measure how long the treatment took and the player would have to sit said amount of time on the sideline when the play resumed.
Implement an amendment to the rule where the keeper still doesn’t have to come out, but then the manager has to pick a field player to remove for like 30 seconds or something
Keeper injured but can stay on the pitch. Captain out for 1 or 2 minutes depending on time it took to check injury of the keeper.
In a long term perspective we should consider playing with a stopwatch and timeouts. Time wasting has become a severe problem to Football.
We (South Americans) have been doing this for decades now. It’s funny that Europe/UK just discovered this now 😂. We even joke that when your team is ahead in a final is when your goalie should start getting cramps in his legs.
The stupid thing about faking injury is the other team benefits equally from the delay.
They do, but it's also about the psychological element of time-wasting and frustrating the opponent. All nonsense if you ask me though, as the time gets added on at the end.
not much of a benefit if you're down
Eventually they'll stop the game clock and might introduce timeouts. Serie A is already strongly considering such changes to the game. Recently, after COVID, more substitutions are allowed and "Cooling breaks" have been introduced. I can see more changes coming to the game, also because of TV, similarly to the NBA.
Take out other GK too and resume playing without GKs but they all must back to their own half b4 restart..all defenders gonna protect the goal and both forward players shhoting on them😂
Just close the loophole and add time-outs to allow for players to rehydrate and for coaches to talk to them when needed. I don't even like sports and this seems like an obvious solution
I feel like adding timeouts would remove half of the shenanigans
Bernd Leno done it yesterday for Fulham vs Crystal Palace at excactly 30 mins and it worked a treat for them as they were well under the cosh
this should be easily fixed by the couch requiring to sub off "injured" players (if they need to be treated by medics) so the game doesn't have to stop
In México they do this every single match
In South America it has been used for decades, but mainly for time wasting 💀
While we have a clock that doesn't stop when the ball is not being played, teams will find ways to make time pass.
I think if a player got « injuried » and the game needed to stop for a moment because of this he shouldn’t be allowed to play the next match.
Didn't Arsenal try one of these "time outs" against Bayern, some Arsenal player was being treated so all the other Arsenal players huddled against Arteta but Bayern weren't having any of that and resumed playing, odegard noticed and gestured to the rest of the team still huddled to return to the field, but luckily for Arsenal the ref invalidated anything that happened.
That was definitely the move by Arteta there. They were listening to his tactical decisions, drinking water and having a small break.
The ref blew the whistle for the players to come back on the field, but Bayern almost got it tho
That’s a good idea , they should add timeouts
Really, how many goalies didn't you see going down injured???
Tbh I actually think football should be played in 3 30 minute halfs so I get why they take the breaks they do
Martin Dubravka did this for Newcastle against Fulham recently.
Honestly, just give teams one timeout per half, full stoppage. Must be taken on throw ins or goal kicks in which your team has possession of the ball, and they last for 2 minutes
It sounds like the need more/longer time outs
Just stop the clock. Sorted
I think they should tally up how often it happens to a team and every few games hand a penalty to teams that are clearly well out of distribution
At that point just play basketball 4,quarters 2 timeouts each team
Maybe just add timeouts for teams
Yeah but with other players you can change how the team is built, with a goal keepr you can not
If you want to fix the exploit, fix the problem behind it. Introduce temporary substitutes
That, will change the dynamics of the player contract.. I mean, team could hire a free kick specialist just to do the kick and subbed him off after.. And many fatal injuries require the injured to not be moved (ex: fernando torres seizures).
Or timeouts
Temporary goalie substitutes
I think implementing timeouts might help the game a lot. Here's why:
• It could lead to a reduction in flopping and exaggerated injuries ("manufactured timeouts") which could help the global reputation of the game
• it gives fans a short break in the action to use the restroom or whatever else they want to do (I actually really enjoyed the 5 minute breaks during Covid)
• it could give a chance for a quick, tolerable commercial break which could help leagues to stay off of subscription services to make their money (although it may be too late to change that in most countries)
Add stop watch!
Stop the clock.
This makes football so beautifull, and please remove VAR
Germany vs Spain proved the VR is completely useless
Pure playing time already please. The non stop clock with extra time is non sense.
Been doing this for decades 😂 10 years old and going down so a team talk can happen
just start stopping time i don’t get why football fans are so stubborn
Don't call it creative. Call it what it is - cheating.
Football matches should have a neutral medical team that treat players in order to avoid faking injuries.
But again, this will also start problems between teams and more bribing accusations will rise to the surface.
Sumo has something similar: rikishi cannot set out before or mid-tournament unless the Association's doctor check them up for the injury they claim (except for Yokozuna who can fake an injury whenever they want)
Every new thing I learn about this sport the more I dislike it. It seems so many of its issues stem directly from the rules itself
Yh ederson just pretended to fracture his eye socket
Bro just give the coaches one timeout each per half I doubt it would mess with the pace of play that bad 😭
How about just make stop time like every other sport
Ahh that's why they give 2:30 mins timeout (drinks break) in each half in the Indian Super League.😂
Women's football already has time-outs, why not implement the same on men's football?
Forced GK substitute is a fix.
Nah, this should be banned. If your Goalie suffers an injury and the physio needs more than 3 minutes to treat, perhaps swapping the goalies out to get the game on.
For the Europeans here, in American Football, both in college and in the NFL, there's a theory among fans that players fake injuries during games so that teams can use them as an "extra" time out to scheme, or even give their teams a breather. Several veteran players have even admitted that teams do it.
They should let managers call for a minute time out once per half, then people wouldn't need to cheat 😂
Did lloris really get injured in the early minutes of the 2022 WC final?
Funny to see this being considered something new
Football will have timeouts in the next 20 years.
And commercial breaks for 10 minutes every 10 minutes.
hahahaha it's only reached Europe now? South America has been doing this since forever! Looks like someone's watching the Libertadores over there
I feel like football should ban this
how do you propose they ban it?
@@B3tabyt3Yeah you can’t just accuse them of faking it because if they aren’t, it’s an extremely dangerous decision to force them to play
@@oliverqueen5883fr
@@oliverqueen5883 😂 did you even read my question? I'm asking because I feel the same. Just saying ‘ban it’is easy but what does he say they should do? Should they play without a keeper should they have a forced sub? Should they have a temporary outfield player? They all sound silly to me so maybe they have a better idea.
@@B3tabyt3He's agreeing with you hence his comment starts with "Yeah" 😆
They're learning from the sudamericanos
Is it the lack of a rule that says that a dog can't okay football
Is this supposed to be a new thing? Eddie Howe was getting his 'keepers to do it more than a decade ago.
Seems like quite an easy fix.
If a keeper goes down injured and receives treatment, make an outfield player leave the field still so they still face a numerical disadvantage
Yeah but which outfield player? There's going to be loads of arguments coz players are not want to be subbed out when they're not injured at all
@@Rollerbear712 Doesn’t matter. The manager gets to choose which outfield player
This does not make any sense. The problem is that the game is paused while the goalie‘s injuries are treated. There is no inherent reason to further punish a team if a player is actually injured…
@@Zekromus If he is actually injured then he can get substituted.
In terms of the reason, it would punish teams time wasting.
leave the field until when? you can't play on the game without a GK so this doesn't work
Ortega vs Chelsea yesterday
maybe football just need to stop time like other sports, eg basketball
why dont they just add timeouts
Or they can just do a rain dance and hope for a lighting to come 😂
Europe figured this out now? 😂
Jokes aside, this loophole is not really closable, you can't really take the keeper off the pitch, and awarding a foul for it will just make teams headhunt the keeper from the opposing side.
Take a page from hockey: In hockey, if a goalie commits a foul (or penalty, in hockey speak), the goalie themself doesn't serve the penalty (because that would put the team at too much of a disadvantage), but instead, another player on their team serves it for them.
Similarly, if a football goalkeeper is injured and play stops for treatment, if the keeper is able to continue playing, the team should instead select one fielder to leave the pitch, as if it were that fielder's injury that stopped play.
FIFA has seen it.
Time wasting is the most annoying element of football
“ahh im injured! Now lets go on a vacation
What if they just gave teams time outs
this is why a stop-start clock should be adopt for football😅 no time wasting can be occur
Soccer is the weirdest game
South America already has this for a great 50 years 😂😂😂😂
Yet another reason why people don't take football seriously
Song?
Argentinians discover that like 50 years ago 😂
I saw a coach used this in youth football with like U10, it was so funny and kinda cringe at the same time😂
This why football/ Soccer is being mocked with these kind of acting, simulation, diving etc,
…okay but soccer games are already wildly long anyway. Is the like one to two minute addition of timeouts gonna be that life altering? Patch the rule and give the teams time to get silly with it
This one stays. Can't restart a match witout the goal keeper standing on his post.
Ederson, straight out of the man cheaty handbook.
WHAT?!?!?! The biggest game for cheaters and theyve found a new loophole to exploit, never in all my years🙄
Should just make soccer a full contact sport. Give them a reason to flop.
Goalkeepers get too much protection.
