Publius a few years ago we were back home in Brisbane for a few weeks. My wife’s best friend lives in Germany, and her boyfriend is polish. They came over to Aus for a holiday so we spent a few days with us on the Gold Coast. They came to our apartment for dinner. It was the night that Carlton played Richmond in the first round and gave them a run for their money for a lot of the game. That same night the broncos were playing some team and Australia were playing South Africa in cricket in SA. I spent the night flipping between the three games. It was interesting for them because they got it that a country could be absorbed by football, but to have the possibility of having three big sporting events dividing your evening, each one a big deal, with possibly 100 000s of other Australians doing the same thing was an eye opener. Their common language was German, so I was explaining to the girl in Spanish what was going on and she’d them explain it to the boyfriend in German. I was proud that 2 suburban teams from Melbourne could draw 80 000 fans to the G.

I'm just looking at this year as a year of tinkering with the layout of your list etc because it's just all over the shop. The shortened quarters are BS by the way. If anything that has the biggest impact on the game, the pies and Tiges wouldn't have drawn, Carlton might have kicked another 3 or 4 in that first half or geelong might have done so aswell we'll never know but the shortened quarters are what makes this season feel pointless. Fantastic win by the blues though to not quick a goal in a whole half of footy and still win is incredible.
