That subframe is very smart! Awesome job! Love the positivity when the floor is being pushed out of place! “Interesting” you called it. 👌
Also that rear arch!! Your reaction was very funny! Looking forward to seeing this done! I really can’t imagine many people go to these great lengths to restore vehicles like this! 👍👍
Cheers Terry! Yeh she has certainly seen better days but if nobody was unhinged enough to try and save them, then one of the greatest classic 4x4s of all time would go extinct! Watch this space!! Cheers 👍
Johnny I admire your self belief in what you need to do to get this sorted. Most people would probably shy away at this point but your positive attitude shines through, no change in your tone of voice when you say “I’m still pretty positive about it, I know I can get this one to come back.” Cracking video and I can’t wait for more content in the next one.
Thanks very much! Yeh I try and stay as positive as possible (otherwise I’d cry myself to sleep at night 😂), it’ll be alright though - she will be back, better than ever!
Whoaaa Johnny, this is going to be a hell of a job! Maximum respect for your attitude and commitment! Can’t wait for the next episode of… anything! 🤩🤜🏻💥🤛🏻😉
Thanks mate! It’ll all be alright in the end!!
As most people would say, it should be scrapped, but knowing your can do attitude and skills, I'm sure you will get over these issues and turn out a fabulous 4 Track in the end. Looking forward to the next episode Johnny.
Cheers Ken, as you know…I don’t believe in scrappage! I’ll get her back on her feet & fighting fit, watch this space!
It looks really bad but nothing Johnny can't handle. I really like the shape of this fourtrack reminds me of a 70 series cruisers. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks very much! Watch this space!
Holy moly dude! You are definitely a braver man than me. lol Great job so far and I'm really looking forward to seeing the truck progress. Thanks for sharing the journey with us.
PS> Saw you on TV recently, another good job! 👍
Cheers Pete! Hope you enjoyed the TV show!
Just started to watch your chanel Top marks for shielding the welding on camera, that's why you have to wear a mask. Looking forward to the completed restoration.
Thanks for watching! I don’t always shield the welding jobs, sometimes though if it seems particularly bright in the footage I will but this is more so it doesn’t throw the whole shot out (of course the flash can’t hurt anyone’s eyes unless seen in person!) 👍
There's a chap on Ebay selling all these panels you're needing to cut out and replace Johnny. Outer and inner arches, sills etc. They're great quality and made in the UK to basically an original pattern. Hope this helps. Mine was exactly the same and I spent many pain staking ours rebuilding it. But it's certainly paid off. Looking forward to seeing the next episode 😀
Thanks Jamie. I have seen those repair panels but they’re crazy money! Given the amount of panels I’d need, the cost would be getting on for £1k and whilst I can fabricate pretty much all I need, I may as well go down that route (plus I have a few custom touches I’d like to add to the body, but all will be revealed!)
@@JohnnyGetsCash Understandable mate. Yeah it's a shame they are so expensive but I suppose they can be as no one else makes them. Really looking forward to seeing the progress👌👍
@@Jamie-mu5lt yeh to be fair if the seller has a monopoly on the parts, good luck to him. Thanks for checking out the videos, I can’t wait to get this one back on the road!
did my rear arches and got to admit mine where not as bad as yours johnny , just a thought that you only have to build them back strong and solid and not to the exact factory shape as they are never seen when you put the spat on .. cant wait to see your build johny as you are one very talented guy .
Thanks Stephen. Yeh you’re certainly right, I can use a bit of artistic license as the metalwork will indeed be hidden. Whereas I will try to keep it as OEM looking as possible I do intend to make a few design changes from standard so the arches aren’t such a dirt trap in the hope that that’ll add to the longevity of the truck!
Good work mate, one side definitely was shown the elements. Never park a car the same way if it is exposed to the elements. There are tough 4x4s I know you will beat it mate.
Cheers Dave, yeh she’s had a life, but she will come back and she’ll be better than ever!
What is it with driver's side rear arches on UK 4x4s, the same spot on my Hilux Surf needs attention. I'm almost afriad to pull the arch off and see what misery lies benetah, but looking forward to seeing how you fix yours. Keep up the good work Johnny.... and good luck 🙂
Thanks Darren. You’re right - the OSR seems to take a battering in the UK and it’s weird because you’d expedite to be the NSR! My theory is that the OSR picks up a lot of salt / splash from oncoming vehicles as well as the usual under vehicle stuff so it’s getting twice the abuse…maybe I’m wrong, but I can’t think of any other reason!!
I started on the repairs on my Fourtrak
The sub frame you made have you the rough measurements to start from
Unfortunately David, I don’t have any specs or measurements for the subframe as I made it ‘ad hoc’ and measured as I built it!
