I’m absolutely gushing over the way Mia wielded this “star studded cast” as her own and I don’t care what is said about any flaws in this movie, it was gold. Queen Maxxxine.
Mia Goth is one of those rare talents where I would be in 7th Heaven simply watching her read the phone book. Your reaction/review did not disappoint. Love y'all so much!
The world actually didn't know her name. By the end of the movie she is still doing cocaine and sequels to terrible 80s horror movies. It's a paralell to the beginning of the X movie. She isn't giving interviews or applauded as a hero. She will always be at the same place. That's the meaning of the end of the movie.
I legit need to see The Puritan and The Puritan II. That looked like a great series! And what could be better than a production that was made by and supported women??
I really liked this movie, which is a good thing since I had to drive 45 minutes to see it. 🤦♀ My ranking is the same as Chey's. 1) Pearl 2.) X 3.) Maxixine. Love the whole trilogy!
I had not known of this lady before but wow she’s a great young actress. She’s bad because she suffered horrendous abuse that caused her irreparable harm, so the ‘validation’ she sought in an inherently exploitative industry consumed her to the point that she succumbed to become just as evil as her oppressors. I watched many of her clips. She’s a very good film actor. 🎉
Loved this movie! Only part I got confused on was the red carpet because at the end, it looked like they were still making the movie. Overall, loved the style, attitude, and as opposed to others, I did not guess the villain! Loved the easter eggs to the other two movies within this one!
"I will not accept a life I do not deserve". I love this sentiment, but it doesn't seem accurate coming from a Fundamentalist preacher. Evangelicals don't usually preach positively about self esteem, they preach about giving up oneself for "The Lord". I was raised Baptist and my self esteem has been very low for most of my life partly because of it. I absolutely agree with the concept, though. We should all seek the life we deserve.
My first A24 movie that I watched in theaters! its not my fav of the trilogy but it was still a cool experience❤ I would have loved to see The Puritan movie lol
Loved this movie. Wasn’t my favorite but I wasn’t mad at it. The biggest pet peeve I have is when they crush Kevin Bacon and not get information out of him.. He was willing to do whatever to survive, so why not find out who he’s working for that’s out to get you.. AND THEN crush him lol. Like we aren’t even gonna ask or try to find out?
I enjoyed it for what it was, but it failed at trying to be a giallo film. It had the look and feel, but it was so damn obvious who the killer would be that I even guessed it by just seeing the previews. Not my favorite of the three films, but still a good way to end the trilogy.
My order is Pearl as my favorite, X, then MaXXXine last. To summarize my other comment it took too many influences from things I've already seen so it didn't feel original to me. Plus, I had the killer spoiled for me which ticked me off. Also, I felt like I wanted to know more about the background characters in this. They all felt under utilized in a sense.
For me the movie just felt unfocused. Like our main storyline is Maxxxine and her career progression while all the actual horror becomes the B plot. I still liked it, but I didn't love it like the first 2.
Looking at the A24 list of movies you've had on the channel, I was wondering if you haven't seen Midsommar yet or just hadn't featured it yet? That is such an amazing movie!
I understand the difference of opinions with this film out of the whole trilogy. I think maybe where the story falls flat for me is not necessarily the choice of Maxine's dad being the night stalker, but more so his reasoning and drive for it. I get he's a religious freak but idk it just seems like they had a good idea but didn't know how to get there. Like the idea of Max's dad being a killer is really interesting and all but i just felt his reasoning was a bit out of a reach. Kinda just seems cliche and lazy. More so it just didn't really make sense to me. But it was something i was able to look past because at the same time it felt in touch with the campy 80s slasher film vibe. Not taking itself too seriously in a way. So.......... I absolutely loved this film🤣🥴 It's completely different than the other films in the franchise and that's honestly one of the reasons why I love each X film differently but entirely for what they are all together and on their own. I love it cause each movie could honestly be it's own movie. Maxxxine ABSOLUTELY hit the nostalgia for me, and totally served c***✨💜💅🏾👑 Not to mention I'm always just a huge fan of watching how films choose to shoot and perceive the 80s. The Lights, the Music, the Fashion!!!!!!! Ughhhhh🤤 I hate using that word but it truly is a "vibe" to watch.
I was very disappointed with this movie, I had high expectations due to X and pearl. The plot was kinda predictable which is not always a bad thing but yeah not feeling it
The film was cowardly, no breasts, didn't go to the gross extreme, too little action. Bacon with too little in it. It was a good thriller that reminded me of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. But set in 1985, there could have been so much more. They could have put in a CGI Clint Eastwood and Telly Savalas from 1985. No, actually it was a missed opportunity.
I have to say this is my least favourite of the Trilogy. Largely because I feel they tacked on a happy (ish) ending that wasn't warranted. ENDING SPOILER When Maxine has the shotgun pointed at her fathers head and says the mantra of the trilogy 'I will not accept a life I do not deserve', she's in the searchlight of the Police helicopter. Bobby Cannavale is dead, Michelle Monaghan is probably dead, as far as the cops know a crazy woman has a shotgun. There's no way they would let her get off that hill alive and/or not arrested. I read her saying 'I will not accept a life I do not deserve' as a fatalistic statement. I'm not going to get a LIFE I deserve, so instead I choose DEATH. Suicide by cop.
I always get so excited when I see "reaction" and think it's an actual first-time reaction. It's never an actual reaction. 😭😭😭 Just out of curiosity, what's the motivation in calling it a "reaction" instead of a "commentary" when it's just the second or third time watch and we're not actually getting to experience your reaction?
@@Debora-ge9nb I was excited too 😭 I get wanting to support the cast and go out to the movies and all that but when it comes to channel uploads I always feel like it's way less fun to just get the seconds. I always get excited too because seeing "reaction" in the title gives me false hope. Ultimately it's not like it's a requirement to call it a commentary or whatever instead but yeah. Just sucks haha. 💔
This movie was tolerable at the very least. X was the best in terms of originality and impact. Fear Street was a much better trilogy than this. This is one of those movies where you think, they could've done more with the cast who were top tier actors, the scenes were good individually and you appreciate it but as a whole, it's underwhelming.
Sorry its a weak film to end this series. Gore is out of place, ending is rushed, the story is meh. Its a messy movie and im sad that it didnt live up to its hype.

I don't know if you guys have already reacted to it but I am BEGGING you to react to The VVitch (2015) -- it is PURITAN PERFECTION!!
my favorite of the trilogy, gives me Scream 3 vibes, the hold thing with the “pay for your sins” WOW
the way this movie had a chokehold on me when i saw it, give it the damn oscar
Exactly!
I literally had a dream about seeing this movie last night and I still haven't seen it. Y'all truly are feeding me.
I like how she ended up caring in the end. I think she acted like she didn’t care just to be guarded.

It's so cute and quirky to stan a psycho murderer. Sick
Its a great day to be a petty pumpkin 🧡🧡literally have been waiting for this reaction
We’ve been anxiously waiting to get to film it!!!
I’ve loved all three and think they stuck the landing, but I definitely understand the criticism from others.

The bathroom scene had to be the most unbelievable part of the movie for me. An empty women's bathroom in a packed club. Come on? Really.

To be honest, I felt the movie has something missing. I enjoyed it and loved it but unfortunately it’s my least favorite from the trilogy
Yes, I think it fell apart in the last third for sure 😑The tone just made me check out mid movie!
Definitely understandable and we for sure see where the criticisms come from!

Honestly kinda lame that everyone’s crying opinion but they all also hopped on the hate bandwagon with this one. I thought this movie was amazing 🤩
I’m assuming that people are either complaining that the movie wasn’t as violent as X or didn’t have the great character study of Pearl.
