I got an Appalachian mountain dulcimer for Christmas in 2017. Only mine isn't from Roosebeck, it was handcrafted by a man named E. Dale Eckard, who lives in Claremont, North Carolina.

Just received my Roosebeck Emma and I love it ! Great sound and beautifully built. Glad I spent a little more for it than the Grace model...even though that one looked good too. Would highly recommend the Emma model. Hope this helps anyone on the fence to go for it.

Did you buy this product from ensoul or directly from Roosebeck?

I have the Grace but want to get the Emma. What is the difference between the 2?

Also there is cool little feature, the groove. It can allow you to play it with a bow.

Thanks for the video. Could you tell us more about the 6 1/2 and 13 1/2 frets? What notes do they play? Thanks you!

The answer to your question depends on the tuning. In the traditional method of playing dulcimer, the bass and middle strings drone and you only fret the melody string. Because the fretboard is diatonic, you only get 7 notes in an octave instead of 12 chromatic notes. You can think of it as the white keys on a piano without any black keys. A half-fret is a note added to that 7-note diatonic scale. The most common tuning for the mountain dulcimer today is DAd, with the melody string an octave above the bass. In that tuning the 6-1/2 fret provides you the seventh note of the major scale. The 13-1/2 is the same note but in a higher octave. You might want to visit (and ask questions at) the RUclips sites of dulcimer players rather than that of a company trying to sell you its wares.

Is the only difference the headstock? Big price difference between the Grace and Emma. Is it worth the difference?
