Hi Like instumentfreak said it will record over and over again without ending until the pedal is pressed again to make it stop recording. This is very useful if you need the loop to overlap the next one, especially when playing heavy guitar chords as it would have a horrible cutoff if the pedal just stopped recording at the end of the loop, quite often you need it to spill over a little to make it a seamless loop.

That is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing! Very informative. You are one of the few people who has been able to clearly show how the loop pedal works. I am a newbie on the pedal front. Where can I get the tabs on the various parts that you play?
You should definitely change the name of this video to include the Jackson 5 Cover details, I know you probably didn't make the video to show off and that it's main purpose is a demonstration to make the pedal seem less intimidating/complicated, and you have a ton of views as is but in all honesty, "Want You Back" is probably one of my favorite songs in the whole world and I think this is probably my favorite cover of it I've ever heard hahaha. I'm genuinely surprised that this isn't a super viral video.
Hi from the future me. I honestly had no idea what i was doing back then with you tube, i didnt undertsand algorhytms, tagging or titling properly. In hindsight you are right, I really should have been more descriptive with my vidoes. Although i did quite well back then with the views, I always use to stumble on similar videos with millions of views and never felt they used the loop pedal to the degree like i did, so, was always a bit confused by how you tou tube works and why my views were so much less than theirs. Thank you for stopping by all those years ago, was appreciated then and still is now.
Awesome! This is one of the best instructional videos on the rc-30! Maybe the best? And it took forever for me to find! WTF RUclips/Google: You're doing a bad job at sorting your search results--it's not objective.
Thank you, and i know you tube have a terrible way of sorting their search results, even worse showing me when i get coments hence why im only just seeing this now!
Hi. I'm very glad you enjoy them. OK the most basic set-up is a Loop pedal, Piano and some headphones or an amp and that's all you need to get started. If you want to sing as well then obviously a mic will be be needed, if this is the case you will want to choose a loop pedal that has at least two inputs but I think most of them do. You will also need a bunch of wires to connect everything together but you will most likely already own these wires. Will you be using a real piano or electric?
Absolutely brilliant and very informative. I've been thinking about buying the RC30 after seeing Ed Sheerins performances. Even if I dont get good at it it looks fun anyway
I too bought the RC-30 after seeing ed sheeran perform on one. Yeah they are loads of fun, most people give up because they can't get the first loop right but once you learn that bit everything else is just about messing about and having fun with it. Thanks for watching and commenting
Thank you ! Very much appreciate the super comment and thanks for subscribing. Just seen you have videos too, I've subbed you back , will have a watch when I get home 👍
good to know.I'm going to be using my daw to run a drum and bass track to loop live over top of. So in that sense I guess I could stop both the tracks and clear one whole side as the drum and bass will still role while I'm stopping and clearing. Thanks for writing back.
At last!!... I've been looking for this for two years... no one I know can help with the basics... what's the best vid you do for the REALLY basic?.. well done great vid, brilliant style
Really impressive. Congrats!!! I`m still having a hard time pressing the pedal on the beat. Sometimes I get that F. delay on the loop..... Very nice indeed, You`ve inspired me! Peace!
I had exactly the same problem, hitting the pedal at the right time on the first loop was possibly the hardest thing to learn to do on this loop pedal. However keep at it and soon you will be able to make a perfect loop nearly everytime without thinking too much about it. I still get it wrong sometimes, easiest way is to make the first loop really simple, you cant go wrong with the other loops as the pedal will just keep recording the loop until you press the pedal again and you can always undo the other loops if you go wrong and want another try at it. Good luck and many thanks for your comment.
Amazing watching you play. I just got this pedal myself but am having some trouble getting it sounding good with my amp. Apart from all of the sound seeming a bit compressed, the mic seems to sound pretty dull and screechy at times. Have you any tips for getting the mic sounding good? Someone suggested putting the pedal in the effects loop of the amp but I don't think my amp has one. Super video and arrangement though. Have a great week.
I see from 0:37 to 1:01, you add several layers on track 2, but never press the left pedal to separate the 4 measure recordings. It seems as if you just play the 4 measures of each added riff, then it just adds it and you can keep going adding very efficiently. I can't seem to do that on mine. Is there a setting for that? Sorry for the long question but here is an example: Ed Sheeran in almost all of his songs where he loops live, does it very fast, and doesn't wait after he loops a section, he just goes right onto adding the next section the very next measure. I want to be able to do that like you and Ed do. Can you explain? Thanks!
Hi, I can only assume you have your settings different. There is two fundamental modes, basic and advanced. I always use advanced mode so first thing i think you should do is put your pedal into advanced mode to get the most out of it. There is also several choices when it comes to how the pedal records / overdubs etc, i am guessing you have it in a mode where it automatically stops recording when it re-hits the first beat, the mode I have it in lets me record/overdub infinitley until i press the pedal to stop it recording. Sadly I have lost my instructions otherwise i would have a look and figure out how to put it i the correct mode.
That's exactly what I figured! I haven't picked up my pedal in a while, but am planning on becoming more proficient with it here this summer. I will do some more research to find out about the the mode you have yours in, and if you figure out anything, comment back on here! Thanks Funky
hey bud...to loop overdubs without having to mash the pedal every time your measure rolls around, you need to set your pedal to REC/PLAY/DUB. It comes preset REC/DUB/PLAY. to do this, unplug your instrument from the L/mono jack and the unit powers OFF..Once it is off, Press and hold the TAP/TEMPO button while plugging the instrument back in. The unit will power up and in the display, it will read "RD" (record/dub) press the up arrow once till it reads "RP" (record/Play) and press the tempo button again to lock it in. keep in mind your 1st REC dictates how many measures you will have for the entire track. have fun man...i just got this 2 days ago and love it!
Cool video, i had been leaning down to change channel every time.... so holding the right peddle is an awesome little extra i got from your vid! How did you setup the video like that? All just green screen?
Yeah the switching channels with the pedal is useful , only down side is if you need to change quickly. No green screen in this video, the middle section is real footage the outer sections were cut out in post and the curtain pole and circular floor we added in later too.
Thank you for this great video! It explains everything without wasting your time. And your playing is awesome. One question: When I push the right pedal the playback always stops and the tracks won't change. Even if I push the right pedal for more than two seconds the tracks won't change and the playback stops. What am I doing wrong?
Instructions from the manual 1. While holding down the [LOOP FX ON/OFF] button, turn on the power (insert a plug into the OUTPUT L jack). 2. Use the [up] / [down ] buttons to select the desired mode.
Great videos..... thanks for sharing them.... wanted to check if there is a way to get the mic output from the rc-30 to go to a PA instead of running it through the guitar amp which makes it sound really bad. am also using the boss ve-20 before the loop pedal. would appreciate your advice.
It'd really like another loop pedal after missing my lowly RC-2. But I think loop performances are incredibly boring after a few minutes without the benefit of a second, third or even fourth movement. I couldn't sit through an entire night of loops, much less every freakin' Tuesday night. Looks like I need to save up for a used RC-50 or 300....
Hi, Thanks for the comment. It was a while ago when I recorded this but I will try to remember how I set it up. I used a zoom H2n mic to record both vocal and guitar. The Mic was plugged straight into the loop pedal. The pedal output was plugged into the little amp, the headphone socket of the amp was split 2 ways using a boosteroo. One signal into my headphones and one into a laptop to record the performance, the laptop was hidden behind the curtain. I most likely added a little reverb and some noise reduction to the recording afterwards. This set-up is cheap, easy and good for recording but this Mic would be terrible for playing to an audience as it is highly likely to feedback if the amp is to loud. A proper vocal mic would be much better for a live situation. Believe it or not the guitar, Mic and amp used are extremely cheap. The guitar is a Yamaha C40 and is one of the cheapest guitars you can buy and the Zoom H2n is about £120 (Or maybe even cheaper now) and the amp is so cheap that I don't even think it is branded, probably cost just a few pounds. Again thanks for watching and commenting, always appreciated.
Hi - lovely work - I'm using the rc-30 with fs-6 - do you know if it's possible to change to a new memory location (so like having a B part bass line and chords for example) that has 2 saved tracks and have them both begin at once? I so far can't figure out if this is do-able / mine always just starts up track 2 and I have to switch tracks and then start track 1 / clunky! /and have been trawling forums without much luck! I'd really appreciate it if you know this detail and can share! Thanks from Levity Beet
Levity Beet just bought mine but it seem that to have a different chord progression or even a bass separate from track 1 or 2 we have to record it in another memory slot. Then we can change with fs6 easier. Also go to page 17 of manual and read the changing switching order of recording part!!
I figured out the problem I had with changing memory locations and always defaulting to track 2 / it was related to how I had transferred files from the computer and what track was enabled when first plugging in the usb - simple but I can't find anything about it in the manual. Having fun!
Great video! Nice one!! Is it possible to have a bpm with the tap tempo pedal in which the loops stick to that particular tempo or it depends on my skills of pressing the pedal on the right tempo? Thanks!!
Awesome work. Great to see someone replying and helping people out with questions too!!. Do you know if its possible to sync the rc-30 and the boss dd7? I want to use dotted 8th note delay in a loop but creating the exact same timing on both pedals by tap tempo is almost impossible. Even if I am a millisecond out eventually they go out of sync. Hope this makes sense. Thanks again.
I think he's not though. The guitar seems to be an acoustic guitar which is not plugged into anything. So really, there's just one input: the mic, which captures both guitar and vocals. It then goes into the pedal via the pink cable, and the entire sound is output from the pedal into the guitar amp via the blue cable.
wait, so do all tracks following the initial recording have to stay within the same time frame of that initial recording? That is to say, initial recording is 00:45, are all following tracks trapped within that 00:45 window?
Yes that is unfortunately true, it's quite annoying , this pedal is great but it does have some annoyances . I also have an rc-300 which is vastly better but is not as portable.
Hello Sir, how about verses and chorus. Do i have to play the same chords. Because lot of songs have different chords with verses and chorus . Hope you understand the question. Thanks for the video.
I can't remember the exact setup for this video, however i believe the Mic went straight into the loop pedal. The loop pedal then went into the little amp which was only there for my headphones to plug into, there was no audio coming out from the speaker , the pedal also went into a laptop which was behind the curtain to record the performance.
Hey man love the vids you make it look easy :p just got one of the RC 30 as my buddy is off travelling for 6 months and I like more than just a guitar in my sets. Defo needs practise but do you think it will be useful in live sets? Thanks, Paddy
Yeah I have seen people use this for live sets, ed sheeran and KT Tunstall both use them and they sound awesome. I am not sure if i would like to use it for live performance as I nearly always need to do a few takes to get my videos right, that would be quite awkward with an audience but yeah with enough practice its certainly possible to do live sets.
This is cool! Can you pleeeeease tell me how you record this/film it. When i connect my loop station to my laptop I cant use it to record videos like you have.
Hi, sorry this is very late. To get the sound good takes a bit of messing about both before and after filming. Before hand you need to get the mic or mics set up right which is usual. But you also have to learn to play with different velocities so you do not overkill the performance, this is quite important as you can not sort the levels while you play. Once it is in the laptop i then go about cleaning the audio up with noise cleaners, eq's etc as straight out of the laptop it doesn't sound as good as i would like
Thanks so much for his amazing video! I have a question- I want to similarity record a drum beat but using my guitar and keep that throughout the song. Then I want to on the second pedal record a lick. This lick will be used at various parts of the song. However at the moment every time I pause it so the drums continue the lick still plays it’s just with the volume off. Do you know how to pause your loop lick whilst the beat continues and every time you want the second loop to play it begins at the start? Thanks also much! 🖤
Hi, i see what you mean, you want the drums to start back at the beggining every time you press them to start again? With this looper i dont think thats possible, I have an rc300 not and i belive you can do it with that. Thank you
Hi sorry for the late reply. Good to hear you bought the RC-30, hopefully you have got to grips with making loops by now. The video was made using a sony vegas, I basically used the cropping tool to cut out the outer edges and leave a black background and then used the pan/zoom tool to zoom in and out. Although its quite a simple video it did take me some time to put together. The audio was recorded as simple as possible. I used one mic to record the guitar and vocals, the output of the looper went into some headphones and also into a laptop hidden behind the curtain which was recording the performance. Also if your interested the 3d logo at the beginning was made in cinema 4D and overlayed in sony vegas.
Yes on the RC-30 the first layer sets the bars length / tempo for both tracks. You can set the tempo before hand but the bars will always be dictated by the first layer . I also have an RC-300 which can have a different number of bars on each channel if you need that feature
I watched this 'cuz I'm trying to decide which looper to get and I like the Rc 30 because of the mic input. Here's a couple of thoughts for you. By the time you had it all going it was just a little too busy......maybe leave off a couple of layers.. Once you've got the backing track done and are ready to perform, does it allow you to dial back the volume a bit, so's you can perform over it and make your guitar or vocal stand out a little more? Doesn't sound right to me when everything is at same volume level. All in all it was a great job and I appreciated the subtitles telling when to click in and out. Nice work !
an anyone help ? I have my mixer going into my looper, then the looper back out into my mixer so I can hear it. My problem is this, when I bounce my tracks down to my PC off of the looper the volume level is very low. I have all my input levels and output levels accordingly I believe, but still the volume is low. Any ideas ? Thanks Ken
Hi. so sorry this is 8 years late! For those having this issue today, the output of the RC-30 is very low. I don't own this looper anymore but if i remember rightly the way round it was to get an audio booster. They are only a few pounds on the internet and boost the audio to a recorable level.
I have been watching all your videos lately , trying to figure out how you loop mic and instrument and or 2 mics in other video's . I have the RC 30 and 300 . I'd love to know what mics you are using and how you set this up for basic loops . Thanks and keep up the good work . Inspiring everyone here .
Each video was setup differently depending on the environment and what the song required. The RC 300 has two inputs and a mic input so you could have several mics or two mics and an instrument going in . Most my videos I used the zoom h2n and an sm58 Should I need to have more instruments you just need a mixer between your instruments and loop pedal

Thanks for such a clear and informative video!
I hope it helped to understand how the pedal can be used. Thanks for watching and commenting, its always appreciated
My friend, that was truly awesome looping! Inspirational indeed... Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks for watching and commenting.
What an artist!
Thank You!
that was great. loved it
Thank you very much from the future me
Shamazing Dic !! its mint how you explain underneath whats goin on, great for a laymen like moi !! keep up the great work :-)
Finally.. A logical demonstration. Well done and Thanx.
Simple and clear , thanks
best one yet for quick info cheers bro,,
Thank you from the future me, much appreicated
Great song, great demo...
Thank you very much
That was a quite wonderful 3'31 seconds, bravo! Subbed!! 🙏🔥🎸
Thank you ! Very much appreciate the super comment and thanks for subscribing. Just seen you have videos too, I've subbed you back , will have a watch when I get home 👍
@@ReelfunkyProductions you are most welcome, and thank you, that is very kind of you 🙂
Thanks for you great tutorials.
Paul
Great. So simple and helpful ! ................. and pleasant !
Thank You!
this is actually awesome
Thank you
good to know.I'm going to be using my daw to run a drum and bass track to loop live over top of. So in that sense I guess I could stop both the tracks and clear one whole side as the drum and bass will still role while I'm stopping and clearing.
Thanks for writing back.
Nice song man, thanks for the ideas
Thank you , post a link when you have something down .
love this cover so much keep up the good work
At last!!... I've been looking for this for two years... no one I know can help with the basics... what's the best vid you do for the REALLY basic?.. well done great vid, brilliant style
Thank you very much. I hope it helped and if you managed to create anything id love to see / hear it.
Thanks man nice informative video!
Thank you for watching and commenting.
that taught me everything I needed!! thank you so much!
Thanks for all the tutorial! It's so much clear now! Thanks!
Your very welcome . Thanks for watching
beautiful
Thank You
Really impressive.
Inspiring !!
This is great! Thank you
Thank you
a great way to explane how to use the chaneIs, thanks a lot :)
Thank you from the future
Great work!
really awesome. Thanks for the best demo.
Well done!!
Thank you !
Thanks for this tutorial! :D
You are welcome and thank for watching it seven years ago!
Thank you for this great video! It explains everything without wasting your time. And your playing is awesome.
One question: When I push the right pedal the playback always stops and the tracks won't change. Even if I push the right pedal for more than two seconds the tracks won't change and the playback stops. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you. You quite likely have the pedal in basic mode, there's some instructions on how to get it onto advanced mode.
Instructions from the manual
1. While holding down the [LOOP FX ON/OFF] button, turn on the power (insert a plug into
the OUTPUT L jack).
2. Use the [up] / [down ] buttons to select the desired mode.
@@ReelfunkyProductions Thank you, now it works!
amazing
Thank you
Aww brilliant. That really helps, thank you!
Love this! Super creative :)
I love this so much
Great videos..... thanks for sharing them....
wanted to check if there is a way to get the mic output from the rc-30 to go to a PA instead of running it through the guitar amp which makes it sound really bad. am also using the boss ve-20 before the loop pedal. would appreciate your advice.
Awesome Man!
come on whats your setup amp, guitar, mic etc. can you add to description. its so cool i love it.
Thanks Michael - I can see your idea will work for me!
I figured out the problem I had with changing memory locations and always defaulting to track 2 / it was related to how I had transferred files from the computer and what track was enabled when first plugging in the usb - simple but I can't find anything about it in the manual. Having fun!
How do you eq your mic and guitar separately? Or do separate reverb for the mic and effects for guitar?
In this video they are so much eq's separately as its one mic picking everything up. However i do a lot of work on the audio in post.
wow now that was nice!!!
Kool...the po-po song!!!😁😁😁
I believe the only pedal that syncs with outside sources as of yet is the RC300
Hi! I really like how you reply to others and it's rly nice of you to help. Could you kindly advise how do you connect both mic and guitar tgt? :)
No, you can with a bit of working out do a song with totally different chords in the cerse and chorus, i have a few loop pedal examples that do this
This is so brilliant ! Now I need to make money. it costs 200$ here :'D
It’s incredibly tough to do Indian songs on these loopers ….im still trying to figure out the best one
Thank you!
+Inke Raabe much more than welcome . Thanks for watching
May I ask what u have ur mic plugged o to. Is it playing out of the same amp
I can't remember the exact setup for this video, however i believe the Mic went straight into the loop pedal. The loop pedal then went into the little amp which was only there for my headphones to plug into, there was no audio coming out from the speaker , the pedal also went into a laptop which was behind the curtain to record the performance.
you'r a master! ;-)
Once it is in the laptop i then go about cleaning the audio up with noise cleaners, eq's etc as straight out of the laptop it doesn't sound as good as i would like
Loving your videos and would love to get a loop pedal for piano... But im really new so what is EVERYTHING that I might need? Thanks!
Thank you
Great! I just bought this looper.. great demonstration. I'll use it as reference...
How did you create the video?
Brilliant.. nicely played.. I have a question... does the first layer dictate how many bars all the other layers have?
Nice work !
Thank you, and thank you for the honest feedback, much appreciated.
an anyone help ?
Most my videos I used the zoom h2n and an sm58
Should I need to have more instruments you just need a mixer between your instruments and loop pedal
@@ReelfunkyProductions Thanks for the info .. keep up the good work
@@ReelfunkyProductions Do you mean I can use either inputs R and L /mono as a 2nd mic input ? XLR to Jack ? sorry to bother you but I'm confused :)
@@jionnie that's correct . You can have a mic in either R or L and a further mic in the XLR port
I love this, have watched so many times! I've just started using a loop pedal - what do you think of my attempt?
Brilliant mate. watched some of your other videos too. love the split screen work as well. Cheers
