nice to see your cabin … well theres enough room to build a new cabin and do everything u wanted to do , that u never did . so much work but I love that u take time to do what makes u happy . looks great no matter what u think
I have maternal ancestors who came to the Yukon, from Alberta, decades ago, because they got into prospecting. My only Canadian born grandparent was born in a town in Alberta, in the Rocky Mountains, because her parents, who came from Czechoslovakia, went to where the coal mining was, as that's what my great grandfather did. He got out of that, and went into farming in Alberta. Other relatives on that side wanted to continue with mining, so they went to the Yukon. Also, a late, maternal cousin of mine used to live and work in the Yukon. He and his family then went back to their farm in Alberta. I can see why people would go to the Yukon, because it looks beautiful over there. Your cabin looks so nice, and so does the view. Cheers!
Wow, wild Alberta/Yukon connection! My whole family is spread out across Alberta. Love the Rockies and there's something about that farmland in Alberta that I just love too. But it's also beautiful up here, that's for sure!
Wow, no way! Where are you located? Was it big? Are they common there? We've had a few small ones here, one shook the cabin a couple years ago and knocked my spice rack onto the floor, haha. It was the only casualty thankfullly.
Loved the cabin tour. I’m not sure we will ever be done here😂 I look forward to summer when we get other people staying out here as well. It’s nice to ha e others to talk to. Also enjoy fishing season. Just a few more months and summer will be here.
Nice i like it! I have a several things i need to complete at my camp on the river, but i got tired of doing nothing but work when i came up and said screw it! And started hunting & fishing more. But i have started to finishing up some projects in the last few months 😉 Oh and I've tried the drinking and drawing plans before, but it usually ends up with me drinking more, and not much drawing gets done 😲🤣
James Jackal haha drinking and drawing plans!! Exactly. Oh well at least I can laugh about it now. I hear ya, only so much work can be done, we have to Abe some fun too! Where is your place located?
With respect u have done a big job on ur own, and that's an achievement in itself, as summer comes soon I hope, it is both advisable and suggested that u build a front n back deck..(front deck u can add an awning and sit n relax and back deck u can use for other projects, covered back deck would be great. Thankyou for the video, Stay safe, stay warm n cozy, God bless
A big front deck with arctic entry has been in my plans for a while... one day! I'd also love a walkout deck up top from the loft. So many plans, have to prioritize throughout the year. Right now my two big front windows are probably the #1 thing as they're both broken and one is only single pane!
Awesome, thanks! I plan on doing another video with a bit more detail. This was early on and I want to address some things I've been asked over the past 6 months or so.
What’s the dimensions of the cabin? As for the cracking windows, get Polycarbonate panels, Lexan with solar film for protection to keep them from going yellow...
I did do that but it was also my first tiling job ever. Could be operator error. But it also only seems to be that tile, it’s broken twice now. I think the floor is particularly uneven in that one spot.
@@CabinDweller If there's a void under the tile, that is where it will break over time. But at least it's a small area for you to work on instead of a while floor.
Really enjoying your videos! Subscribed😊 How many square feet is your cabin and including the loft how much living space? I'm about ready to begin my last chapter by doing something similar. Not brave enough for the Yukon but Wyoming will work! I have 7 big dogs so trying to decide what size to go with. Thank you for filming your life! Loving this!
Thanks, it's been a huge learning curve with some things (wiring! drywall!). No solar, I ran off of batteries for the first couple of years then realized the cost of bringing power in doable. And it has been so worth it!
Cabin Dweller darn! Was hoping you were on solar, was going to ask how the washer/dryer was working for your system. We’re going to get a washer, but will probably only use it when running the generator.
OMG so bad eh!? It's 20x24, one of the many things I forgot to mention, oops! I even had an outline for what I wanted to say and everything but never looked at it haha.
I hope you kept the paper that you did the house on, I would have it framed. Awesome find on the land. Would you ever add on like Shawn did, veranda on the side maybe build on the back? Do you have animals or plan on getting any? Take care of you. Thanks for sharing eh :))
I didn’t, darn it!! I have lofty dreams about expanding the cabin. A wraparound deck would be awesome. Plus a deck up top outside the loft. Animals, just dogs for now! They’re enough work haha.
Oh dang that would have been sweet to frame, well new plans to the cabin you can keep. Saw something behind thought maybe you had chickens or goats. Yes deck outside loft would be amazing. @@CabinDweller
Nice! Good plan about the full loft, I regret not putting in dormers or pony walls in mine. I lose so much space because of that. I may try to reno that this summer if time and money work out!
@@CabinDweller Yeah....I plan on a 4 foot pony wall just for the space reason alone! lol. Having lived in a loft before I agree, they lose too much space. Mine will be stick frame so instead of normal length studs I will use 12 foot 2x6 to get the extra 4 feet in the loft. Time and Money...lifes 2 biggest enemies hahahahha

James Jackal haha drinking and drawing plans!! Exactly. Oh well at least I can laugh about it now. I hear ya, only so much work can be done, we have to Abe some fun too! Where is your place located?
@@CabinDweller Are place is in a little community named Gee's Bend located on the Alabama river.
Oh wow so crazy hot summers?
Thanks for the tour that was a lot of fun👍
Stop in for a visit some time🍻
Thx for watching! Are you out east? Just took a quick look at your channel, will return when I have some free time!
Cabin Dweller I’m in Northern Ontario out of Sudbury 👍
I actually like the floor upstairs ...looks great
Thx! it's a bit worn but will work for now.
Kewl Channel. Love the Cabin, adventures.

New subsciber Recommended by Kyles Cabin .Love it will probably be binge watching to catch up xxx
Yay thanks Sandy ! Hope you enjoy!
Wow I wish I can have my own cabin
I once asked my dad when the projects would be through, his reply “when we sell and move out.”
Haha exactly! Perfect way to put it.
Really cool nice t meet u
Thx for watching Ric!
I give you credit for living your dream.... I chickened out
Oh darn, it’s never too late tho!
Hey there! Over from Van Life With Ginas channel. I’m subd with my bell on. I’d love to design and build my own cabin. Wow! Awesome!
Awesome, thanks! I plan on doing another video with a bit more detail. This was early on and I want to address some things I've been asked over the past 6 months or so.
I love this...we are very similar personalities
What’s the dimensions of the cabin? As for the cracking windows, get Polycarbonate panels, Lexan with solar film for protection to keep them from going yellow...
Juju Mooz 20x24
Cool story. That must have been hard in that tent. What zone are you in over there? I feel you with that cold climate.
I don't think we have zones over here? Do you mean like for soil? Climate?
@@CabinDweller yeah your zone of rusticity for growing food.
Like my bro in Kenai Alaska is in zone 4. I'm zone 3. Colder than zone 4.
Quebec Homestead ah ok just looked we’re like a 1 haha
@@CabinDweller oh snap that's a challenging climate
Like the cabin. Question. Why can’t you drill a well for water supply?
I could but it’s just too costly right now. Maybe one day!
Your tiles are cracking from uneven thinset under the tile. Butter the floor, and the back of the tile and you won't have that issue again.
Your life.. it dosen't matter what people think. Its not they'er life to live.. thanks for sharing🇺🇸🤠
So ture. Thanks for watching!
ok now I know where you are, Thansk
Really enjoying your videos! Subscribed😊 How many square feet is your cabin and including the loft how much living space? I'm about ready to begin my last chapter by doing something similar. Not brave enough for the Yukon but Wyoming will work! I have 7 big dogs so trying to decide what size to go with. Thank you for filming your life! Loving this!
Wyoming is beautiful! My cabin is 20x24 with a half loft. So roughly 700sq ft. Enough room for me and up to 14 dogs! Now I only have 8 haha.
...and a beer, how Canadian
I'm the worst at finishing jobs too hahahaha
HAHA YAY!!! I love hearing that there are others like us out there.
👍
Love your cabin! You’re an amazing lady! So many things you have tackled on your own, I admire your get it done attitude! Are you on solar?
Thanks, it's been a huge learning curve with some things (wiring! drywall!). No solar, I ran off of batteries for the first couple of years then realized the cost of bringing power in doable. And it has been so worth it!
Cabin Dweller darn! Was hoping you were on solar, was going to ask how the washer/dryer was working for your system. We’re going to get a washer, but will probably only use it when running the generator.
@@BreakingFreeOffGrid What about propane? I was looking at a propane dryer.
Cabin Dweller after our propane fridge almost killing us I want to try and stay away from as much propane appliances as possible. Lol
How long does that propane tank last and how often do you use it? Thanks.
I have two 30lb tanks and each one lasts probably a month. I use propane for my stove and on-demand hot water heater so it’s used every day.
@@CabinDweller - nice...you need to check : Silverfire Rocker stove out....
Great stuff, your as bad as me with buttoning up projects lol!!! What are the cabins dimensions? 👍😃✌️
Cypress Blue maybe goats one day because they’re so adorable!
Kiko goats are so cute and a hardy bunch. @@CabinDweller
That place is a perfect size! :) Thank you for the tour :) Oh! What do you do for internet out there anyway?
We have one local provider who's line I can tap into. Thx for watching! How big is your cabin going to be?
@@CabinDweller 16x24 to start, with a full height loft and plans to add a lower floor bedroom.
@@SeanInAlaska smart!! There are SO many things I'd do different if I started again, but it was a great learning experience!

The
sandy cummings 8 now. I plan to do a video on the dogs soon! I get lots of meat scraps which helps with cost. But since you’re curious: Pooh Bear, Ivy, Sadie, Willow, are the oldies and the youngsters (7 now) siblings are: Louis, Fossey, Maggie and Howler!
