When I get tired, I speak repetitively. Jackie, my 10 month old, is teething. Count how many times I say “absolutely” and “phenomenal” in this video. I would say turn it into a drinking game, but I’m afraid that would be too dangerous 😬
Pretty awesome that you played the national anthem for the Portland Sea Dogs. I hope you got to stick around for the game and that it was a good one. I played bass drum in my school marching band in grades 5 and 6 and we did the national anthem for the Pawtucket Red Sox once each year but you played it way better than we did.
Becoming more and more a fan of your videos all the time. While I appreciate anything that truly promotes guitar playing(music), and there is a wealth of it, but I do have my biases(OH YES YOU DO OUT THERE, TOO!) I am old fashioned and really appreciate your clean cut more family oriented image. And while I know them all and can spell them all, I see no need of the use of expletives to promote and inspire gear and music education, and I've yet to see you use them, and I'm dang proud of ya! Keep it up!
Finally sourced the Gretsch 5230-T 140th anniversary edition, in this beautiful metallic platinum blue. I first saw it when it came out in 2023 and didn't buy it but, after 18 months of waiting, it came up used and I pulled the trigger. Couldn't be happier.
Happy New Year, beautiful selections :) My personal 'favorite' guitar is ALL of my SG's, I honestly love them all and all three are different in many ways. None are 'reliced' either - all Gibson USA's.... I always say to myself 'If a Gibbie Standard ( whichever model, fill in the blank ) was good enough for so many talented artists... it's certainly good enough for me Nice playing too!~
Wow! Lotsa fun - thanks for that. The Vola looks really interesting - checked out the website, will check out reviews etc. I didn't buy anything new this year but I did get an amazing surprise from my brother when he passed thru town, a 2009 Gibson Les Paul Special - Burgundy Matte finish, 2 x P90s with tune-o-matic bridge and solid tail-piece (most of them have single wraparound which I'm not mad about for fine-tuning). It's my 2nd Gibson - my 1st is a '68 Custom I bought in 1974 and this couldn't be more different, a fantastic raunchy compliment to the more 'elegant' classic Custom. Have a happy, musical 2025!
Nice roundup! Definitely some great gear. I picked up a 2004 Epiphone Sheraton that I absolutely love. After going through quite a few semi hollows over the past decade, I finally found the one that feels like home. I'm primarily a Les Paul guy, but not always.
Awesome video. For my favorite grear that I got this year, I'd have to list my Gibson J45 I purchased back in October. Hands down the best sounding, and playing, acoustic I've ever owned. I've been playing it like crazy so far. Happy New Year!
I just bought a Supro Delta King 12 for 398 euro from a shop new in the box. I love it! Thanks for the review Jack. And all the best from the Netherlands (Europe)
Now you've got me thinking about how I haven't gotten any musical gear in two years. I'm not sure if I should be disappointed or if I should be satisfied with myself for being responsible or if I'm just an idiot and wasting my money on other things. My favorite for you though is that SG that thing sounds killer. Regardless, I hope you have a blessed 2025 too.
Loved all the guitars you played especially the Gretsch. I retired this year so haven't bought a lot of gear but enjoying the Boss Me-90 for open mics and for gigs I like the Thorpyfx The Bunker overdrive. Always enjoy your content. Happy New Year from Skelmersdale Lancashire England.
I also pickup the Gretsch, it’s phenomenal. A tiny bit better quality control would have helped but, I didn’t care after playing it. No one told me how hard it is to change strings on a guitar with a Bigsby the very first time. Dear god that’s was frustrating!
As much as gibson SG players love the tone of these guitars...I just don't...don't like the sound or the look...the SG's just don't seem to sound any different from a Les Paul to me...not enough difference for me to get one.
For me, it’s the upper fret access and the weight. I have an SG Jr and it’s the lightest guitar I’ve ever seen and it’s easier to play the upper frets because there’s barely a neck heal in the way. The way it sits in my lap is different from a Les Paul too and that also makes it easier to play for me. My Les Paul 50’s Standard is cool but it’s so much more comfortable to play an SG

Gretsch guitars are lovely guitars and their own sound I have always loved...

Thanks Jack for this and all your informative videos. Happy New Gear Year

Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year to you & yours Jack 😁
I love the British “Happy Christmas” - we, conversely, are a merry band over here.
Thanks for the inclusion, glad you love the Carbon X as much as we do!
Awesome video Jack have a great day also happy new year from Canada

Bro- do yourself a HUGE favour and stay off of RUclips!!!
It’s all GAS infomercials lol.
Two years with no new gear is something to be proud of!!
Love the Fender Player Series 11 with the HSS pickup.

I grabbed an Epiphone Firebird this year. I am totally impressed with the build quality and tone, love it.
Happy new year Jack. My pick is the Hello Kitty fuzz, bought it for a giggle. Plugged it in last rehearsal and it really kix butt!!

Oh yes, changing strings on a bigsby is a two drink minimum job.
Every jz fro demo sounds fantastic. Would like to snag one in '25
Happy new year Jack! Hope you and your family absolutely crush it in 2025 😊
Happy New Year to you too!
I'm a Tele guy. Lovely collection. But that Gretsch sounded amazing
Got a set of TV Jones Classics and wiring harness to put in a Gretsch G5422T...the PAFs in that 335 and the Blue Tele sounded phenOM
I have a 2013 dangelico excel and it is one of the best guitars I have ever played.
Never touched a Gretsch Jet I didn't love!
My favorite gear is the gear from the year before.
I’m from San Antonio so seeing those Gretsch inlays reminded me of the Alamo.
TO HELL WITH SPAIN REMEMBER THE MAINE!
Thats ours up here.
I guess it is more of the vintage tone of gretsch guitars I like...
How come no captions

Where the neck pickup sits in relation to the bridge. The neck pickup is where you can find the most sonic differences between sg & lp
