A lot of people are asking about the fan noise... I am using about a dozen POE devices and consuming 45.7W out of the 250W limit. I ran the "AndroSensor" app and held my phone a couple of inches away from the switch and measured the ambient room sound level at 41.00 dB, then on start up it went up to about 59 dB. Then the sound level stepped down a couple of time before finally resting at about 51 dB.
hahaha I just ordered one of these, and then thought "oh I can't have that noisy thing running in my rack a few feet from me - I was praying it would throttle down after it booted, and it did :)
hopefully this is a silly question. Do you mind doing a "3 years later how I like this switch" video? The unboxing video is helpful but knowing how it's worked over time is helpful for those of us thinking about the device.
Actually, I have barley logged into the router in the last 3 years. I have plugged in a few more POE devices since then and no issues. I have been using tp-link personally and recommending it for well over a decade. People often ask me how are they with warranty? My answer is, I don't know, I've never had to claim a warranty.. :)
Omada (pronounced like the word armada) is a Greek word which means team. I don't really know if it's named after the Greek word but it makes sense as it's used to manage multiple devices. :)
I just got one of these for free. Looking to use it for a small home setup. I'm sure there are better options, but you can't beat free. All it's missing is the ears, but I don't have a rack anyway. It'll be sitting on a shelf or stand.
Thank you for showing the webinterface in detail. I was wondering whether it was possible to see the CRC errors that occurred - to check whether there might be a problem with the cabling. Your video was the only one I found that actually clicked on the the statistics page at 30:38. There is a stat called alignment errors which according to google is at least repeated, possibly a subset of CRC errors. Probably enough to diagnose a bad cable.
How do I set up a connection between IP cameras (8 Nos.), PoE switch (16 Port), Mesh Wi-Fi Setup (4 Nos.) (as a home network extender), Router (for Internet uplink), and NVR (Network Video Recorder).
Is it possible to turn PoE for specific ports on or off? My old PoE+ switch has an option to do so, even something like failsafe - when the device does not respond to ping for specified amount of times, it will turn the power off and back on to reboot the device. I'd like to know if the TP-Link has similar feature.
Can you use this as an omada controller too? Instead of having to host the software yourself or using their dedicated controller, I’m kinda confused since it mentions omada SDN is integrated
I just installed omada switch 2428...it's my first switch of this kind and i find the noise extremaly annoying. I can't compare with other as it's my first, but i even thought mine is broken as u can't be calm on the same room than the router.
Hi there. I know someone’s already asked the question about the fan noise. But just to be clear after initial turn on and the fans are on what appear to be full steam, do they actually quiet down some or do they stay like this all the time? I’ve just hooked this switch up and after a good 10 mins maybe more they’re still going fast and loud? Any idea if they can be adjusted in the controller software?

I don't have the switch, but I assume that it doesn't provide or interact with passive power at all. If you are using a power injector (for passive PoE), it will probably disconnect the active PoE power contacts. I think you won't face any issues
Hi can you help me my switch tplink t2600g-28mps is connected to a router and I have a AP conected to a switch and when I try to use different ports for my computer all ports are 100mbs, how do I fix this the switch is capable of 10gb and I am only getting 100mbs and I read a lot about this and people are saying it is the faulty cable i have installed cat7 cabels and i have a tester and they are all good I even tryed with cat8 and its getting 100mbs?
Your connected configuring equipment eg PC, laptop needs to be set to a Static IP that it is on the same Subnet (192.268.0. …) as the Switch default IP ,in order to be able to access the GUI

Hi, is the switch loud to be placed in cabinet where you will work ?

Hi, how far is the switch from you? will be uncomfortable to mount it in the cabinet where i will work ? is it too loud ?

Good to get in 2024 ?

This switch is installed in the home we just purchased. Can you advise on how do I reset back to factor default?
press the reset button on your running sg2428p until it reboots, remember it will go back to 192. 168 . 0. 1

yes it is possible if i recall correctly.
Great information, thanks for sharing!
Hello gateway IP palace?
I can't cope withe the noise level... I'm thinking changing the fans with some noctua... Have anyone done it? Tia.
Hey, what cable did you use to connect the switch to the laptop?
Hello. Can I connect a non poe on this switch? I am planning to connect my desktop computers. Thank you.
Yes! It's will ignore the POE feature of the port when you plug in non-poe devices ..
Nice video but I would invest in a Hoto electric screw driver. Way better then your drill for jobs like these.
Thank you.
perfect
Is the Omada server within the switch, or did you mean you can access the switch with the Omada utility ?
There is no controller built in, but you can manage the switch via the omada controller
Does it have the function of MAC authentication via NPS server?
just put the rack mount "ears" on with a handraulic screwdriver...
Hello, does the switch have a 24v PoE output?
Does it have any form of AD integration?
Do you mean advertising? I believe the OMADA software allows ads during wifi guest sign in...
@@bkayfetz Active Directory, ADFS or Azure Active Directory.

Nope - you need a separate hardware or software controller to manage it.
Did the fan noise eventually diminish after boot while all devices were hooked up?
Yes, it is noticeably quieter than the old switch.

u need an spare room that u don't use in order to use that equipment lol.
@@bkayfetz : After I upgraded from TL-SG1016PE which was basically silent -- the fans of TL-SG2428P are a bit noisy (but somewhat tolerable).
Hey, some people spend good money on a white noise machine!.. maybe TP LINK should add that to it's feature list.
Hi ben, is there's a way to input a static gateway??? Thanks

Yes the fan noise does not decrease.
Hello how to disable this model POE power? example number port (so i am change active poe to passive poe)

TP Link has pretty good phone support depending on where you are located... Give them a call.
What Happens If I Connected Non POE device to this switch?
It operates as a normal switch...
@@bkayfetz what is the POE voltage output? can it power mixed cams with different voltages?
@@dragilxcom4176 it's all automatic.. you should be able to plug in any POE device and it will figure it out.
@@bkayfetz Thanks.. 😃
HI, what is the price?
It varies depending on where you are. I'm sure if you google the part number you'll get some pricing.
hello, I want to ask something how did you manage to open the switch?
I cant open the URL? if there is any trick or something?

Yes.
and the password "admin', i've got to change that later, and never did ...
hey Ben how many gigabit ports does this have?
All 24 ports are gigabit!
not too loud
