Even if player base is small, i'll keep playing as long as it's fun. Great video as usual! Map changes every other season or so would be a super cool. It makes Apex feel refreshing despite it being only slightly different.

@@Adritoma I'm going to be honest, not a great experience coming back so far. The changes seem fun but I didn't even get to play the game. I play in EU and login in I wanted to play solo, only to find out that the solo mode had been deleted. From that point onwards I knew what awaited me, in EU even finding games as solo was hard. I hate with all my soul playing in squad, especially as a new or returning player, but I love the game, so I wanted to give it a try. After a few hours of queue, the player counter only moved to 2/24 once, for a few seconds, probably someone in the same situation as me loging in, seeing 2/24 and being like: nope, alt + F4. I know it's ranked, but I don't like to be dominated by some pro players playing normals, I want to play with people in a similar level, to the extent possible. I will sadly have to pass from now. After finding out about the solo mode removal I watched your videos about the topic, and I think the same as some comments, it's the worst decision they could have ever made, they could have removed squad mode since it needed more players and the game doesn't have a player base big enough for that. I'll continue to watch your videos, but I'll miss the solo play even in them. I hope a random meme pops up somewhere and the game picks enough players for it to resurrect, but for now it even suprises me that the game is still alive. Thank you for replying, btw.
I'm a new player. I'm in love with this game in a way I haven't been since counter strike or even SC2/WC3. I was a top of ladder NA player in wc3 and masters league every season I played in SC2. There is so much potential here. My one gripe is that I'm struggling with the team modes. The engagements can feel hopeless/chaotic, but that's also just any team game when you start out/are bad. I really hope this game can live a healthy life. I personally don't need it to be a smash hit. I just don't want it to go away. It's a gem. Also, nothing outlines my lack of friends than a team game :(
Yeah you would have loved solos! But I will say it’s day and night between ranked and norms! You won’t get any real engagements or less chaotic gameplay until high elo in ranked and even then some people struggle due to how tough a game it can be! But glad you’re enjoying the game! Season 4 should be big for it!
I stopped just a bit after they deleted solos and made trios the new main mode.. Solos is really what got me into the game a few yrs back.. for me it was what made erbs a lot more different. Queue solo, play, you die you get better next game and eventually get really good at the game if you get into it. Just my opinion though I know some people love squads, have fun yall
you've described exactly how the game feels for me. the loop of play - lose - quit - queue again, teaches you a lot about the game and is one of the reasons I loved the learning curve when playing solos.
I doubt that this game will die soon. I used to play LoL since season 6 and also messed around with Smite and Hots, unfortunatly none of them could hold me on the long run. I´m a fan of battle royales, but never had any luck in those either. After some searching on Steam I stumbled upon Eternal Return and having a blast so far! Looking at this comment section, there are quite many new players beside me that share the same love for this game. The planned changes sound very nice, but I hope the devs also focus more on the marketing part. Too many great games died due to lackluster advertising so hopefully the game makes an "eternal return" indeed!
I hope they add new maps centered around a certain theme. Lumia can be the OG/normal map then maybe they can add a map a futuristic map in the style of cobalt's map, then m maybe a circus map etc. It just feels like something that'll really spice up the game for more casual players having different maps to play around which maybe can help bolster the game's playerbase.
Every time I see your vids/streams I always get a little inspired to try redownloading the game and seeing if I can play/will enjoy the new characters. Its neat to see the changes that they are trying to do so thats nice!
Eternal Return has always been a soft spot in my heart, all the way back in Black Survival days (where I had zero clue what I was doing). I don't want this game to die, its very much a fun experience, but the game is losing playerbase. Season 4 seems to be what I hope puts that game back in the map, and I very much love spreading the talk about this game, their characters (and their designs) and how fun it is and could be. Also pls buff Chiara (Yes I know its like her 7th or 8th buff in a row) or give me back my Knife Chiara from Black Survival I don't care what you say that thing Arbiter Chiara has is a knife not a rapier
these changes or future changes are nice. but will it matter if everytime someone wants to play ranked they can't find a queue? also not sure of the viability of playing squads. Solo is just easier to jump into. I came back after a 2 year break and it seems like it has the same issues it used to have back then :/ imo they need to pull all ressources into a huge marketing push to bring new players in. people want to feel like their queues will pop at any time of the day and not just during ungodly hours. Man i really hope they fix these issues because i love this game .. :(
i think the biggest issue of the game is marketing. At 1.0 launch, they were supposed to show it off on the frontpage of steam, but then didnt (my speculation is that they didnt wanna compete with, for example, Baldurs Gate 3) But seeing how they keep saying that season 4 will be the season they start more marketing in the west, i am hopefull. This game is my favorite multiplayer game of all time, and i really just want it to succeed. sure i have more hours in league, but that game havent been as fun as ER since i discovered it
Yeah the season 1.0 marketing in Korea actually worked well and they had more than enough players but their retention wasn’t any good with all the reasons in the video. But yeah there’s been no western marketing really
personally i just think they need to do a little more advertisement, the core game is fun asl, they just need to extend that out, easier said than done of course but still everything they have is very good
I ended up taking a break when the matchmaking bug's started, but I spent the whole break really missing the game, and it was so much fun coming back to ER, even with some of the queue issues. But man, season 3 is just gonna be a season 4 waiting room for me, the weather system looks like it'll be so much fun. I also hope that they will continue to experiment with moving objectives around for each season, it's a hopefully easy way to keep things feeling fresh without having to change much, and I'm already looking forward to the fights that will happen around the indoor spawns for alpha/omega.
I legit loved the Wickedriana skin but when I found out it's on season pass I almost felt like I got an arrow into my heart since I live on Brazil and prices here are... ehh. I played almost if not mainly Adriana in early access days and came back like... 3~4 weeks ago because of a friend who invited me again and I love playing squads, even playing rankeds while my region is pretty much dead(South America), there is like 50~70 people max playing but it is fun, I wish I could afford that Adriana skin right now. Love your videos, I always come back into your channel for more Eternal Return info from time to time, subscribed. ^^
The one thing that made me slowly play less and less was them taking away solo in the game, the other thing is making more item letting you play in a different way from how your made to play.
The character design of Katja has me super interested in coming back. When they removed solos I left sadly cause I don't have a group to play with and I dread doing poorly with random players, but I definitely miss this game. Maybe I'll try to get good enough to manage playing again.
For anyone scared to try squad, I swear to God you'll love it. I'm not a confident guy so I just play cobalt when solo is removed. Looting, crafting, pathing with a team is a pressure to me so I'm just too afraid if I suck balls. But I Really want my Haze swimsuit (fr) so since all the bp mission is achievable in normal I eventually try it. And NO, no one really expect all that much from you, just play normally, walk with them whenever you can. Especially since I'm casual, it's really great. I don't see toxicity all that much and you can just enjoy the game even if someone cheese you Day 1 or 2, you'll be back at it again.
How I see it is that solos is more fun for some people while trios means fun for more people. Can't play a support character in a solos focussed game and playing full tank just doesn't feel right if there's nothing to protect behind the wall that is you. That's a lot of players you're leaving behind if you don't make these play styles a core aspect of your game. So, as a company trying to rope in new players, it was the most logical move to pivot their focus. Also a complete no-brainer when you consider that other successful BRs do exactly that.
not gonna lie, ER gave me that special something that i wasnt getting from other mobas, even kept playing after my friends left but the removal of solos completely broke my heart. i aint no neet or anything but it kinda icks me having to rely on other people to achieve victory. Hopefully they add solos back as a weekly rotation so i can come back.
I loved the game, then they removed solos and I got unlucky with my random teammates so yeah. I will back if Solos are back, but I ain't gonna play with random people that have no clue what are they doing... (Literally one Player going over to us, oneshoting two of my teammates because they are very slow with completing their build, then I win 1v1 and get my teammates back, but jeez it's annoying as hell. Solos are better.)
I just started playing the game again. Last time I played was like Echion’s release and he is by far my favorite (I missed Echion’s Cadet skin and I’m hella salty). I was reading some of the changes and thought they would be underwhelming cause I’ve always had an issue picking this game back up cause I’d practice my routes for 10-20hrs have some fun. Then balance changes would hit and id have to do it all over again. But the new loadouts, starting items, the droning for items, and the kiosks have made picking up the game again a blast. If feels like you can play flex so much more, and there isnt only one right answer now. Cause before there was only one optimal game plan to secure all the valuable resources, 1 farm route, get wik, then snowball the final zone. But now the late-game items are being crafted so much more often it feels like there are just more good fights. Before it felt like when I got my route down I would just stat check every1 (they were all just +1) except the last like 2 teams because I was so far ahead cause I practiced my route so much. It was kinda boring. My reward for being optimal was having to wait 20min to get to the last zone to actually have a good fight. Now every team I run into at least gets to play the game. I’m having a blast. I think ur downplaying the crafting changes. They are some great quality of life, the game feels much more polished now to a returning player.
The crafting changes I mention in the video are pretty minor but adds to the whole picture you described. I agree crafting changes feel good and 90% of these happened at 1.0 release or before but there’s no way for you to know that if you haven’t played since echion release

I personally didn’t play much last season (mainly because the season started with just everyone 3 stacking to myth) but I started up again after hearing that diamond+ was solo q only! Definitely enjoying the changes and it’s been easier to convince some of my friends to give the game a shot after they further simplified base builds and mob farming. Also helps that Arda got a bunch of buffs while I was away lol
Yeah I’ve also had a much better time in ranked with the three stack change. That’d definitely was an issue that made ranked a drag but glad you are back and yeah Arda is pretty good rn!
If an issue is the low player count (since other popular battle royale games don't struggle with this), WHAT IF we had a PvE gamemode for teams of 3? What if you could drop in with your squad and do a bunch of silly chaotic objectives while different modifiers switch out between plays/rounds? I have hope this game can cook, but I think enticing casual players with a non-compeditive gamemode sounds like practice for eventually taking on the chaos that is norms! Stopped playing the game early season 2 because squads is genuinely just so unfun for certain characters and character balancing was atrocious. But I think I the long run this game hopefully does well because it really is a fun good game. I’m planning on maybe coming back around when Katja comes out (she looks amazing design wise) ((bring back solos, it was so nice being able to improve without having to worry about fighting 1v3s or wondering if mistakes were because of teammates etc.)) good video! I used to play this game back when it just came out. Returning to it again only find out that the main gamemode I played (solo) wasn't there anymore certainly didn't feel right. On the positives though Its still quite a blast to play since the core gameplay has always been really good to me.
KR server you can pretty much queue at any time and you can still see people play ranked. I'm not sure what's with EU and NA but KR has been pretty fine with rank queueing.
so to summarize, it got overshadowed by League making the first big changes to Summoner's Rift in almost a decade combined with the fact no one gives a shit about playing during a Preseason.

I would love for an LTM mini-moba mode. The MOBA market is very stale and there aren't many new ones on the horizon. Eternal Return has all the ingredients for a moba and a wonderful cast of characters and I dream of an ER moba. Could even be something similar to League's old Twisted Treeline (3v3) map. Glad you made this video though as I haven't played ER since 1.0 launched and I'll probably hop back in for season 3.
Dude i had no idea that this game existed! I was a huge immortal soul fan back in s1-s5 heavy then off and on later. I'm definitely checking this out, even though I've never been a moba player. I'm actually so hyped to play. Rip immortal soul tho I truly think was a unique experience.

Also a huge issue with this game is they have bad marketing and need to do better, build a business plan and consistently run ads more than only 2 to 3 months in the summer
I had a blast with season 1, but once Tsubame arrived it really dulled my want to continue. It seems like every new character release comes with -everything-. A shield, lifesteal, untargetables, huge aoe, cooldown refreshes. It felt quite literally impossible to escape with certain characters. Solos shouldn't come back because the game balance would tank. As someone who played in early access, supports were an instant loss (I play Priya, I should know). The game feels like it's having an identity crisis especially with crafting; it's the legacy of immortal soul yeah, but it's also the biggest hurdle for new players.
So, Wickeline is my favorite character since Immortal Soul, I was looking forward to Biancaline if there was an event with this skin theme, but they just took my favorite playable character (Adriana) and mixed it with Wickeline. It's definitely in this new season that I'll achieve 1000 games with her. Also, tell me a good build ID for her plz >

Ngl I've been hovering over this title for really long time, but might finally give it a try when indie moba League pass ends. The aesthetic of the game really is my cup of tea, characters look fun, but the whole crafting system seems a bit overwhelming for me, but hey, it probably always seems like it, when it's new thing? Hope this game brings me a bit of a joy that most games across the years lack to give me
Yeah i'd say give it a try! I know the crafting system is tough at first but after a few games you get the hang of it! They've really made it easier over the years!
I've played about 200 hours and I can say that the game is great. The only problem is that the developers have no idea what marketing is. Due to the lack of advertising, there are no players in the game = disgusting matchmaking = inability to play on the European server in the ranked queue at any time except in the evening. I hope that the game dies as soon as possible because all that is happening at the moment is mockery of people. The developers should be ashamed.
I've been thinking a lot about the past few months why I have some little bored feeling in this game even after update. you give the answer that make me agree at the 3rd part of the video. map is the problem to me. Understand it's difficult for small DEV teams. But hopefully they will make another update about map when ready.
Used to play solos, but when they got rid of it, I had so much more fun in the team mode than I ever did in solos. Solos would be fun again, but it's not that important to me WEATHER SOUNDS HYPE THOOOOO can't wait for rain :D

When season 3 starts I’d look for ranked games! Early in the season is best and if you are like gold or plat end of season games should be easier to find!
Just started playing back after I played for a while during its very early inception. But knowing that I'm playing on Asia's server, I prolly will put down the game again since I believe that it would be difficult to really enjoy Eternal Return casually. Wish the dev make changes to the bots, especially the hard one, so there is at least a good front to play the game casually.
I played a lot in early access, and watched a lot of your vids, haven't played in like 2 years but I still watch your vids sometimes haha. might hop in to check the game out, bit sad that I didn't play on 1.0 release saw the numbers and it was probably pretty fun.
As someone french (i play since early 2020), big french streamers from League of Legends (CEO of KC, Nisqy the pro player, and their friends) played the game and added a hype (maybe some hundred new players but you know, when others see a game growing they join). But in the end they left the game after 1 month which is pretty sad.
I agree with you, the game is fine. The best they can do to retain casuals is to make their casual games worth playing. I think the game is waaaaaaaay too stingy with things like skins and earning in game currency that actually matters. Literally just give people the ability to unlock at least 3 random skins a month without having to dedicate their lives to the game and the casuals will stay. The game is a lot of fun and they've already done enough to lower the skill ceiling so that it is enjoyable to everyone.

I played during beta right around the time my friends stopped playing, somehow I'm able to hook them back to the game after 1.0, with me still being more confident with any ranged characters, ever since I found out I'm doing really well with melee characters, I've been enjoying ER even more, the only problem for me as of 2023-2024 was the release of Kenneth because he's literally destroying everyone that gets close to him and my main is Estelle, good thing he's a little less scary now For the future, I just hope they will have maybe Hong Kong or Singapore server, SEA players like me is in a hell called SEA Internet where you can even pay the more expensive internet and it's still won't give you 50-60ms ping to anything outside SEA
Eternal Return is what started me streaming regular and got me into contact with so many wonderful friends. I loved ISBS and I've been with ER from the start and love it dearly, so we've all got to do our best to help it thrive. 🧡
The peak yesterday on steam was 18k and when I was playing (7 pm) 3k players were on, so I guess it's going well ?? I haven't played for almost a whole year of not more because the queues were terrible , I'm glad the game didn't end up dying
As long as the queue bugs exist the game will continue to decline, there's been so many days where I log on just to get 'A player of the team cannot start the match' and dumped out of queue 5 or 6 times in a row. I have a lot of patience, but not 15-20 minutes for one game kind of patience. What do you think about the new night vision changes by the way? I'm thinking it's going to be incredibly annoying LOL
I think it could get reverted but I am kinda scared about it because i like mages. BUT it could add more flavor to the games day night cycle so we will see!
Hi, new into the game, and fan of Battle Royal (the movie) I think should have a last man/girl standing with just one survivor and add some lore to the game itself.
i do hope in seasone 5 or 6 ( if the game is not shutdown) i really hope they can put back duo and solo back because ill be honest im enjoying the last 2 season of trio but damn without the solo the game felt much more limited. But i do seasone 3 will make a good impact
I'd try to give Eternal Return another go if they put some focus on story/lore. The story was part of what made me like Immortal Soul so much. As it stands though, especially with the visual design of most post-IS characters, the game just feels like another generic MOBA I'm too dumb to play. At this point I'm infinitely more interested in the fanmade restoration project for Immortal Soul, Black Survival Project Lumia.
I love the game and its really fun, i hope one day they will blow up but until then all i will do is enjoy the game with my friends and hope it does not die
I was playing this game consistantly from the beta to full release, and was so happy they got rid of solos to make it into a team based game. But because the community hated that decision, it was always hard to find "happy" teamates, very bitter because of the changes. I personally stopped playing a few months ago because i litterally couldnt get past the que glitches, it would take an hr just to hop in a game after relogging like 3 times lol. Wasnt worth it anymore, even though this is the best game ever
Yeah I’d say for the most part the queue bugs aren’t bad anymore. But yeah I think I’ve seen a lot of this with teammates as well but still been enjoying the game recently!
As it is, the game is already fun and has a good baseline. The problem is they have no advertising outside of KR. Even just the servers themselves, it's a pain playing on constant 100 ping if you're outside of KR but you can only play in Asia. That said, they're adding back Asia 2 but that will bring back the problem of splitting the playerbase. Back when we started in late 2021, Asia 2 was still a thing but was facing the same problems as you guys had: no queues. They need to either focus their resources on upgrading their servers or try to reach a more global audience. As far as I can tell, even their advertising in KR is spearheaded by content creators. It baffles me to have not seen a single ad for ER, not even an ad on the side of a website. Like, come on, they made all these good booba skins but can't even put them to good use. I remember that one video of the character screen glitch that showed Hyejin's heart prints (?) and it went viral. I also remember them promising EA S9 to be a season of stabilizing and marketing... and, well. Yeah, we see where it took us. I'm honestly not expecting much from NN's marketing team at this point. But, that's that. I'm hyped AF for the new support items and the new Mythic tier items as well as all the map changes for a more dynamic gameplay. I'm still hoping S3 and S4 will bring in more players to the game. Eternal Return to the moon.

Oh, there is no more solo mode? I haven't played in a really long time, but solo mode is what drew me to this game in the first place. I was thinking I would give it another chance if they fixed the match-making, and the boring early game monotony. If solo mode is gone, though, I think I will pass.
I thought the same about solos at a point but still have had a lot of fun! Also the crafting has been made 5 times less tedious. Every season for the last year they’ve been simplifying it
I hate soloQ, i love SquadQ, but i always lost because my teams have several mental disorders sometimes, but still i continue playing, because is fun to lost.
If they don't market this game in global its over for us in the west. Gameplay is great. Lack of player base is the main reason it's hard to keep playing. Nobody wants to spend more time waiting for a match then playing in one.
I love the game. and I like most people I moved to league as soon as the new season started cause I was hyped for it and never really came back since. part of it I think is cause I just kinda lost interest in some characters and couldnt find someone I enjoyed so I dropped it. but Im planning to come back and try to play again when katja comes back as I am really intrested in her. the game is really fun and unique so I hope all goes well and the game dosent just drop too like 1 or 2k active
A thing I do wanna add is I would love to see a new map or an extension of the map,something cause now that I think about it more playing the same 1 map for who knows how long just gets extremely boring and repetitive.

IM BAD BUT I AM NOT DROPPING THIS GAME its literally so fun. very repetative but what game isnt? id rather see this pretty game all the time (alr at 19 hours which isnt much since im still not level 30)

yeah i'd expect atleast one more push like 1.0 so there will be another chance! Queues are better now than they were most of beta though!

@@Adritoma I'm going to be honest, not a great experience coming back so far. The changes seem fun but I didn't even get to play the game. I play in EU and login in I wanted to play solo, only to find out that the solo mode had been deleted. From that point onwards I knew what awaited me, in EU even finding games as solo was hard. I hate with all my soul playing in squad, especially as a new or returning player, but I love the game, so I wanted to give it a try. After a few hours of queue, the player counter only moved to 2/24 once, for a few seconds, probably someone in the same situation as me loging in, seeing 2/24 and being like: nope, alt + F4. I know it's ranked, but I don't like to be dominated by some pro players playing normals, I want to play with people in a similar level, to the extent possible. I will sadly have to pass from now.
After finding out about the solo mode removal I watched your videos about the topic, and I think the same as some comments, it's the worst decision they could have ever made, they could have removed squad mode since it needed more players and the game doesn't have a player base big enough for that.
I'll continue to watch your videos, but I'll miss the solo play even in them.
I hope a random meme pops up somewhere and the game picks enough players for it to resurrect, but for now it even suprises me that the game is still alive.

I'm a new player. I'm in love with this game in a way I haven't been since counter strike or even SC2/WC3. I was a top of ladder NA player in wc3 and masters league every season I played in SC2.
There is so much potential here. My one gripe is that I'm struggling with the team modes. The engagements can feel hopeless/chaotic, but that's also just any team game when you start out/are bad.
I really hope this game can live a healthy life. I personally don't need it to be a smash hit. I just don't want it to go away. It's a gem.

Yeah you would have loved solos! But I will say it’s day and night between ranked and norms! You won’t get any real engagements or less chaotic gameplay until high elo in ranked and even then some people struggle due to how tough a game it can be! But glad you’re enjoying the game! Season 4 should be big for it!
I stopped just a bit after they deleted solos and made trios the new main mode.. Solos is really what got me into the game a few yrs back.. for me it was what made erbs a lot more different. Queue solo, play, you die you get better next game and eventually get really good at the game if you get into it.
Just my opinion though I know some people love squads, have fun yall
yeah i think solos had a lot more soul to it but i've grown to really enjoy squads!
you've described exactly how the game feels for me. the loop of play - lose - quit - queue again, teaches you a lot about the game and is one of the reasons I loved the learning curve when playing solos.
I doubt that this game will die soon. I used to play LoL since season 6 and also messed around with Smite and Hots, unfortunatly none of them could hold me on the long run.
I´m a fan of battle royales, but never had any luck in those either. After some searching on Steam I stumbled upon Eternal Return and having a blast so far!
Looking at this comment section, there are quite many new players beside me that share the same love for this game. The planned changes sound very nice, but I hope the devs also focus more on the marketing part. Too many great games died due to lackluster advertising so hopefully the game makes an "eternal return" indeed!
Games gonna be fine atleast in korea. NA is where it's iffy. I can still gate games fairly reliably any time of day fortunately but it's close.
I hope they add new maps centered around a certain theme. Lumia can be the OG/normal map then maybe they can add a map a futuristic map in the style of cobalt's map, then m maybe a circus map etc. It just feels like something that'll really spice up the game for more casual players having different maps to play around which maybe can help bolster the game's playerbase.

Eternal Return has always been a soft spot in my heart, all the way back in Black Survival days (where I had zero clue what I was doing). I don't want this game to die, its very much a fun experience, but the game is losing playerbase. Season 4 seems to be what I hope puts that game back in the map, and I very much love spreading the talk about this game, their characters (and their designs) and how fun it is and could be.
Also pls buff Chiara (Yes I know its like her 7th or 8th buff in a row) or give me back my Knife Chiara from Black Survival I don't care what you say that thing Arbiter Chiara has is a knife not a rapier
these changes or future changes are nice. but will it matter if everytime someone wants to play ranked they can't find a queue? also not sure of the viability of playing squads. Solo is just easier to jump into. I came back after a 2 year break and it seems like it has the same issues it used to have back then :/ imo they need to pull all ressources into a huge marketing push to bring new players in. people want to feel like their queues will pop at any time of the day and not just during ungodly hours. Man i really hope they fix these issues because i love this game .. :(
i think the biggest issue of the game is marketing.
At 1.0 launch, they were supposed to show it off on the frontpage of steam, but then didnt (my speculation is that they didnt wanna compete with, for example, Baldurs Gate 3)
But seeing how they keep saying that season 4 will be the season they start more marketing in the west, i am hopefull.
This game is my favorite multiplayer game of all time, and i really just want it to succeed. sure i have more hours in league, but that game havent been as fun as ER since i discovered it
Yeah the season 1.0 marketing in Korea actually worked well and they had more than enough players but their retention wasn’t any good with all the reasons in the video. But yeah there’s been no western marketing really

I ended up taking a break when the matchmaking bug's started, but I spent the whole break really missing the game, and it was so much fun coming back to ER, even with some of the queue issues. But man, season 3 is just gonna be a season 4 waiting room for me, the weather system looks like it'll be so much fun.
I also hope that they will continue to experiment with moving objectives around for each season, it's a hopefully easy way to keep things feeling fresh without having to change much, and I'm already looking forward to the fights that will happen around the indoor spawns for alpha/omega.
Yeah I think season 3 will still have some fun stuff like the achievements but I definitely agree season 4 is where it’s at
I legit loved the Wickedriana skin but when I found out it's on season pass I almost felt like I got an arrow into my heart since I live on Brazil and prices here are... ehh.
I played almost if not mainly Adriana in early access days and came back like... 3~4 weeks ago because of a friend who invited me again and I love playing squads, even playing rankeds while my region is pretty much dead(South America), there is like 50~70 people max playing but it is fun, I wish I could afford that Adriana skin right now.

The one thing that made me slowly play less and less was them taking away solo in the game, the other thing is making more item letting you play in a different way from how your made to play.
The character design of Katja has me super interested in coming back. When they removed solos I left sadly cause I don't have a group to play with and I dread doing poorly with random players, but I definitely miss this game. Maybe I'll try to get good enough to manage playing again.

I stopped playing because of matchmaking and bot games, once that's all fixed i am getting back in
they've fixed it a bit and next season bot lobbies should be less after the first few games. I've heard people are seeing a lot less bots now
For anyone scared to try squad, I swear to God you'll love it.
I'm not a confident guy so I just play cobalt when solo is removed. Looting, crafting, pathing with a team is a pressure to me so I'm just too afraid if I suck balls. But I Really want my Haze swimsuit (fr) so since all the bp mission is achievable in normal I eventually try it. And NO, no one really expect all that much from you, just play normally, walk with them whenever you can. Especially since I'm casual, it's really great. I don't see toxicity all that much and you can just enjoy the game even if someone cheese you Day 1 or 2, you'll be back at it again.
How I see it is that solos is more fun for some people while trios means fun for more people. Can't play a support character in a solos focussed game and playing full tank just doesn't feel right if there's nothing to protect behind the wall that is you. That's a lot of players you're leaving behind if you don't make these play styles a core aspect of your game. So, as a company trying to rope in new players, it was the most logical move to pivot their focus. Also a complete no-brainer when you consider that other successful BRs do exactly that.

not gonna lie, ER gave me that special something that i wasnt getting from other mobas, even kept playing after my friends left but the removal of solos completely broke my heart. i aint no neet or anything but it kinda icks me having to rely on other people to achieve victory. Hopefully they add solos back as a weekly rotation so i can come back.

I loved the game, then they removed solos and I got unlucky with my random teammates so yeah. I will back if Solos are back, but I ain't gonna play with random people that have no clue what are they doing... (Literally one Player going over to us, oneshoting two of my teammates because they are very slow with completing their build, then I win 1v1 and get my teammates back, but jeez it's annoying as hell. Solos are better.)
I just started playing the game again. Last time I played was like Echion’s release and he is by far my favorite (I missed Echion’s Cadet skin and I’m hella salty). I was reading some of the changes and thought they would be underwhelming cause I’ve always had an issue picking this game back up cause I’d practice my routes for 10-20hrs have some fun. Then balance changes would hit and id have to do it all over again. But the new loadouts, starting items, the droning for items, and the kiosks have made picking up the game again a blast. If feels like you can play flex so much more, and there isnt only one right answer now. Cause before there was only one optimal game plan to secure all the valuable resources, 1 farm route, get wik, then snowball the final zone. But now the late-game items are being crafted so much more often it feels like there are just more good fights. Before it felt like when I got my route down I would just stat check every1 (they were all just +1) except the last like 2 teams because I was so far ahead cause I practiced my route so much. It was kinda boring. My reward for being optimal was having to wait 20min to get to the last zone to actually have a good fight. Now every team I run into at least gets to play the game. I’m having a blast. I think ur downplaying the crafting changes. They are some great quality of life, the game feels much more polished now to a returning player.
The crafting changes I mention in the video are pretty minor but adds to the whole picture you described. I agree crafting changes feel good and 90% of these happened at 1.0 release or before but there’s no way for you to know that if you haven’t played since echion release

I personally didn’t play much last season (mainly because the season started with just everyone 3 stacking to myth) but I started up again after hearing that diamond+ was solo q only! Definitely enjoying the changes and it’s been easier to convince some of my friends to give the game a shot after they further simplified base builds and mob farming. Also helps that Arda got a bunch of buffs while I was away lol
Yeah I’ve also had a much better time in ranked with the three stack change. That’d definitely was an issue that made ranked a drag but glad you are back and yeah Arda is pretty good rn!
If an issue is the low player count (since other popular battle royale games don't struggle with this), WHAT IF we had a PvE gamemode for teams of 3? What if you could drop in with your squad and do a bunch of silly chaotic objectives while different modifiers switch out between plays/rounds? I have hope this game can cook, but I think enticing casual players with a non-compeditive gamemode sounds like practice for eventually taking on the chaos that is norms!

Stopped playing the game early season 2 because squads is genuinely just so unfun for certain characters and character balancing was atrocious. But I think I the long run this game hopefully does well because it really is a fun good game. I’m planning on maybe coming back around when Katja comes out (she looks amazing design wise) ((bring back solos, it was so nice being able to improve without having to worry about fighting 1v3s or wondering if mistakes were because of teammates etc.)) good video! Adding new map is useless because a BR Ring of Elysium is added new map on each season but where is that game?
I used to play this game back when it just came out. Returning to it again only find out that the main gamemode I played (solo) wasn't there anymore certainly didn't feel right.
On the positives though Its still quite a blast to play since the core gameplay has always been really good to me.

KR server you can pretty much queue at any time and you can still see people play ranked.
I'm not sure what's with EU and NA but KR has been pretty fine with rank queueing.
so to summarize, it got overshadowed by League making the first big changes to Summoner's Rift in almost a decade combined with the fact no one gives a shit about playing during a Preseason.
well a big part was the queue bugs and the lack of new content, that was bigger than league or preseason being sleeper

I would love for an LTM mini-moba mode. The MOBA market is very stale and there aren't many new ones on the horizon. Eternal Return has all the ingredients for a moba and a wonderful cast of characters and I dream of an ER moba. Could even be something similar to League's old Twisted Treeline (3v3) map.
Glad you made this video though as I haven't played ER since 1.0 launched and I'll probably hop back in for season 3.

Dude i had no idea that this game existed! I was a huge immortal soul fan back in s1-s5 heavy then off and on later. I'm definitely checking this out, even though I've never been a moba player. I'm actually so hyped to play. Rip immortal soul tho I truly think was a unique experience.

Also a huge issue with this game is they have bad marketing and need to do better, build a business plan and consistently run ads more than only 2 to 3 months in the summer
I had a blast with season 1, but once Tsubame arrived it really dulled my want to continue. It seems like every new character release comes with -everything-. A shield, lifesteal, untargetables, huge aoe, cooldown refreshes. It felt quite literally impossible to escape with certain characters.
Solos shouldn't come back because the game balance would tank. As someone who played in early access, supports were an instant loss (I play Priya, I should know). The game feels like it's having an identity crisis especially with crafting; it's the legacy of immortal soul yeah, but it's also the biggest hurdle for new players.
So, Wickeline is my favorite character since Immortal Soul, I was looking forward to Biancaline if there was an event with this skin theme, but they just took my favorite playable character (Adriana) and mixed it with Wickeline. It's definitely in this new season that I'll achieve 1000 games with her.

The aesthetic of the game really is my cup of tea, characters look fun, but the whole crafting system seems a bit overwhelming for me, but hey, it probably always seems like it, when it's new thing? I've played about 200 hours and I can say that the game is great. The only problem is that the developers have no idea what marketing is. Due to the lack of advertising, there are no players in the game = disgusting matchmaking = inability to play on the European server in the ranked queue at any time except in the evening. I hope that the game dies as soon as possible because all that is happening at the moment is mockery of people. The developers should be ashamed.
I've been thinking a lot about the past few months why I have some little bored feeling in this game even after update. you give the answer that make me agree at the 3rd part of the video. map is the problem to me.
Understand it's difficult for small DEV teams. But hopefully they will make another update about map when ready.

When season 3 starts I’d look for ranked games! Early in the season is best and if you are like gold or plat end of season games should be easier to find!
Just started playing back after I played for a while during its very early inception. But knowing that I'm playing on Asia's server, I prolly will put down the game again since I believe that it would be difficult to really enjoy Eternal Return casually. Wish the dev make changes to the bots, especially the hard one, so there is at least a good front to play the game casually.

As someone french (i play since early 2020), big french streamers from League of Legends (CEO of KC, Nisqy the pro player, and their friends) played the game and added a hype (maybe some hundred new players but you know, when others see a game growing they join). But in the end they left the game after 1 month which is pretty sad.
Yeah it’s always been tough to get big streamers to stick with the game even if they like it since a smaller player base means a smaller viewer base
I agree with you, the game is fine. The best they can do to retain casuals is to make their casual games worth playing. I think the game is waaaaaaaay too stingy with things like skins and earning in game currency that actually matters. Literally just give people the ability to unlock at least 3 random skins a month without having to dedicate their lives to the game and the casuals will stay.
The game is a lot of fun and they've already done enough to lower the skill ceiling so that it is enjoyable to everyone.
Honestly i really wanted this game to pop off, like i truly love this game and i want it to be successful, i can just really really hope. Of course when i saw that adri skin i knew youd love it lmfao

I played during beta right around the time my friends stopped playing, somehow I'm able to hook them back to the game after 1.0, with me still being more confident with any ranged characters, ever since I found out I'm doing really well with melee characters, I've been enjoying ER even more, the only problem for me as of 2023-2024 was the release of Kenneth because he's literally destroying everyone that gets close to him and my main is Estelle, good thing he's a little less scary now
For the future, I just hope they will have maybe Hong Kong or Singapore server, SEA players like me is in a hell called SEA Internet where you can even pay the more expensive internet and it's still won't give you 50-60ms ping to anything outside SEA
Eternal Return is what started me streaming regular and got me into contact with so many wonderful friends. I loved ISBS and I've been with ER from the start and love it dearly, so we've all got to do our best to help it thrive. 🧡

As long as the queue bugs exist the game will continue to decline, there's been so many days where I log on just to get 'A player of the team cannot start the match' and dumped out of queue 5 or 6 times in a row. I have a lot of patience, but not 15-20 minutes for one game kind of patience.

I think it could get reverted but I am kinda scared about it because i like mages. BUT it could add more flavor to the games day night cycle so we will see!
Hi, new into the game, and fan of Battle Royal (the movie) I think should have a last man/girl standing with just one survivor and add some lore to the game itself.
that's what the solos mode was! If you look back at older vids it was last man standing and i think with the achievements a lot of lore was added!

I'd try to give Eternal Return another go if they put some focus on story/lore. The story was part of what made me like Immortal Soul so much. As it stands though, especially with the visual design of most post-IS characters, the game just feels like another generic MOBA I'm too dumb to play. At this point I'm infinitely more interested in the fanmade restoration project for Immortal Soul, Black Survival Project Lumia.
On the roadmap they have lore as a season 4-5 goal! But right now every achievement you get gives a little lore!

I was playing this game consistantly from the beta to full release, and was so happy they got rid of solos to make it into a team based game. But because the community hated that decision, it was always hard to find "happy" teamates, very bitter because of the changes.
I personally stopped playing a few months ago because i litterally couldnt get past the que glitches, it would take an hr just to hop in a game after relogging like 3 times lol.

i begun ER since two week.
As it is, the game is already fun and has a good baseline. The problem is they have no advertising outside of KR. Even just the servers themselves, it's a pain playing on constant 100 ping if you're outside of KR but you can only play in Asia. That said, they're adding back Asia 2 but that will bring back the problem of splitting the playerbase. Back when we started in late 2021, Asia 2 was still a thing but was facing the same problems as you guys had: no queues. They need to either focus their resources on upgrading their servers or try to reach a more global audience. As far as I can tell, even their advertising in KR is spearheaded by content creators. It baffles me to have not seen a single ad for ER, not even an ad on the side of a website. Like, come on, they made all these good booba skins but can't even put them to good use. I remember that one video of the character screen glitch that showed Hyejin's heart prints (?) and it went viral. I also remember them promising EA S9 to be a season of stabilizing and marketing... and, well. Yeah, we see where it took us. I'm honestly not expecting much from NN's marketing team at this point.
But, that's that. I'm hyped AF for the new support items and the new Mythic tier items as well as all the map changes for a more dynamic gameplay. I'm still hoping S3 and S4 will bring in more players to the game. Eternal Return to the moon.

Maybe solos would be great in a smaller map and with less players. What do you think?
it's possible but i think a big map is a big appeal for a battle royale! I just think having each game different with new maps or changes will help imo!
i had stopped playing because of the queue bug months ago :/ i got banned queue up in bot lobbys etc :l
the bugs aren't as bad now but every once in a while happens
Oh, there is no more solo mode? I haven't played in a really long time, but solo mode is what drew me to this game in the first place. I was thinking I would give it another chance if they fixed the match-making, and the boring early game monotony. If solo mode is gone, though, I think I will pass.
I thought the same about solos at a point but still have had a lot of fun! Also the crafting has been made 5 times less tedious. Every season for the last year they’ve been simplifying it

I hate soloQ, i love SquadQ, but i always lost because my teams have several mental disorders sometimes, but still i continue playing, because is fun to lost.
If they don't market this game in global its over for us in the west. Gameplay is great. Lack of player base is the main reason it's hard to keep playing. Nobody wants to spend more time waiting for a match then playing in one.
I love the game. and I like most people I moved to league as soon as the new season started cause I was hyped for it and never really came back since. part of it I think is cause I just kinda lost interest in some characters and couldnt find someone I enjoyed so I dropped it. but Im planning to come back and try to play again when katja comes back as I am really intrested in her. the game is really fun and unique so I hope all goes well and the game dosent just drop too like 1 or 2k active
A thing I do wanna add is I would love to see a new map or an extension of the map,something cause now that I think about it more playing the same 1 map for who knows how long just gets extremely boring and repetitive.
Yeah I agree, the maps one of the big things they got going for them they should take advantage and change it more often
as for me, i literally saw someone mention Sissela once on a menhera stereotype video (they didnt call her one just visually compared) and i installed this game asap since the art was so pretty. IM BAD BUT I AM NOT DROPPING THIS GAME its literally so fun. very repetative but what game isnt? id rather see this pretty game all the time (alr at 19 hours which isnt much since im still not level 30)
to add on: i agree with what you said in the video. i think this game could use some quality advertisement as thats how i found it but it was by sheer chance
