I’ve seen a lot of comments wondering why his Face is blacked out. Here’s my theory, what if it’s like that because Dario (is that the right name?) doesn’t want to like him so he mentally blocks out his face. So everybody has seen when it says "I think that I like you" there is an "I can't" hidden. I've seen all the other theories on that so I thought I should throw in mine. Dario is Bi, meaning he likes both genders, but being Bi myself I know that most people that are bi, didn't start off Bi right away, they normally come out as Bi after finding themselves (being gay) having a crush on a girl, or (being straight) having a crush on a boy. So my theory is that Dario was straight, but then Garrett turned up and it made him question his sexuality. Now the reason for his hidden "I can't" is because Dario is very stubborn with his emotions and he probably would be very annoyed at his heart for making him feel attraction to the same gender. So in comes the line of " *I can't* be in love with you" and that's why when the song says "I think that I like you" it says "I can't" meaning he *couldn't* possibly be falling for a guy.

I noticed when it says “I think that I like you” you can faintly see “i can’t” on the screen, just wanted to say that’s an interesting touch, I’m guessing it means he feels insecure about being bi?? So...I noticed that when it says ‘I think that I like you’ it says I can’t very faintly. I’m not sure what this means. Maybe Dario fell in love with a male previously and that male was the one who broke his heart so he was scared to fall in love with another male? Or it could just be he was scared to fall in love in general as I said I’m not quite sure.
Edit: After reading some comments and thinking a bit more here’s another thought.
At 0:26 a female standing next to what we can just assume is a phone number of some sort. This number contains ‘LUV’ which can be interpreted to love. Take note that a female is next to this number. Shortly after a male and female are shown next to each other. Take note male and female. So maybe Dario is trying to doubt his love for Garrett because he wants to ‘fit in’ with society

I think this video takes place at the beginning of Dario and Garrett's relationship.
Dario began to question his sexuality and hid relationship with Garett. I think that he was afraid of what the public thinks thats why he deleted his message when it said "We could get lunch" and thats why he looked nervous. He wants to hang out with Garett, but hes scared of what the public thinks.
He thinks that Garett and him should just stay friends, and that he should cut out Garett. But he overcomes those feelings at the end of the video!! Yay!! 💞
But, I have a question... Dario is a boy or a girl and the same with Garett? Because in the video of "Crush song" both of them look like girls and not like boy and a girl? Why?

A lot of people didn't notice the hints that I had based on what I read, yes everyone saw I can't. Based on your other videos I went through I think I may have figured out the meaning or just gotten close to it.
So if you notice, Dairos shirt has a broken heart. Throughtout the video, Gare (is that how you spell it?) eyes are blocked out. I believe the Dairo is trying to block out Gare so he doesn't have to go through with knowing he likes the same gender since it's considered a "sin" or even "disgusting" he was considering staying friends with Gare so he didn't have to keep thinking he was this monster everybody thought was a sin.
Towards the end the black upon Gares eyes dissapear and the screen goes black to reveal a fixed heart meaning that Dairo had finally accepted himself.
And at this moment, it all makes sense

Mmmh what an interesting artwork, I really love it. What I think is that the black line on Garrett's eyes represents the fact that Dario doesn't seem confident about his sexuality and about how Garrett sees him. At the end of the animation, Garrett's looking at Dario and the black line disappears because he now understands that he loves him back and that it is okay to feel love for him too, it's reciprocal and Dario isn't broken hearted anymore. I think we can see the duality in Dario during all the animation, he thinks he can't love Garrett, he can't reply to plan a date with him, he can't look at him properly, he repress his feelings, etc. I assume he is afraid of how people are gonna see him, if he's gonna be judged for it, and surely that the look of Garrett on him is gonna change. I do think it's really meaningful and very detailed, I can clearly feel the doubt of falling in love, and more particularly, falling in love with the same sex. Bravo Skaroy!

Okay so, I've seen a lot of other theories and wanted to contribute to the bandwagon. Yeah everyone saw the I can't in that one part.
My theory, as I'm sure a few others think, is that Dario is really scared of loving Garret. He feels like it's wrong. A sin or something. And he doesn't want to love him (as in the I can't love you bit) but his heart won't buzz off about how cute and cool Garret is. He deletes his message of 'wanna get lunch?' because he's too nervous and is worried some certain family member or something could see them tofether. He tries so hard to keep his feelings hidden, and keeps telling himself that he just needs to keep Garret as a friend. I noticed that Garret turns the lights off, looking at Dario kind of with an understanding kind of look and turns the lights off so they could make out. I think Dario wanted him to so just in case someone walked in it would be evident that it was too dudes, or maybe the outline of Garrett's dress would throw the person off into thinking it was a girl. Plhs in his contact name, he has X's around Garret's name. He's telling himself 'no, don't. It's wrong. In the subtlist of ways Eventually in the end, he gets tired of having to hide and accepts himself and hopes other people will too hence the repaired heart at the end.
After reading this I went back to them turning off the light

@@aCosmicChula yeah you're right! Garret is pretty happy with their relationship, while Dario might want more but is afraid to get more attached. IDK thats just my theory though. Skaroy is very good with subtle little hints like that.

I’m really interested in what this animation meant, so I watched it over and over again.
I think that Dario went on a date with Garrett but wasn’t sure how he felt. So he try to block Garrett out of his mind, but Dario couldn’t help but think of him. Or that Dario was worried that the date didn’t mean anything so they would just “stay friends” and that made Dario upset.
