I enjoy all your videos. Even something as simple as this is fun to watch and you make it entertaining. I’m new to boating as well as my wife and I just picked up a 17ft hurricane. Getting to learn the waterways in New Port Richey and can’t wait till summer. It’s our first and your videos are helping us along the way. Thank you. Keep up the good work.
Insurance is the hold up and I'd imagine there's probably quite a few denied claims and/or lack of coverage due to cost or availability. From what I hear up here in Utah, insurance companies are pulling out of FL and it's getting harder and harder to find a company willing to write a new policy. Maybe Tom or someone else actually living there can correct me if I'm wrong.
Not everyone has flood insurance. Any structure with more than 50% of its value in damage must be rebuilt to current codes. That is cost prohibitive to many.
God willing. I have to look into getting a medium size boat with A outboard on it. Always had inboards or IOs but a outboard seems so much lighter and efficient
How’d you get the boat delivery gig? I live in the Cape and also run charters. Good videos. Can’t wait for the Christmas boat parade again…and 4th of July anchoring by the Cape Coral bridge.
Try some Grundens rain gear. It'll keep you bone dry, but it doesn't breathe. You'll sweat in temps above 50. Up here in NC it's all we wear in the winter months
I had a good rain jacket on me that I used in my old job. (Not sure you see the Verizon logo). Kept me dry and relatively warm. Hands and feet were another issue.
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs I somehow thought you were retired NYPD .I guess you guys look young enough for you to be out after 20 with the police.Either way--I’m still jealous 😆you got a great life going down there man.Good for you.

@AdventuresofHappyOurs for some reason I was thinking North Captiva. Doc Fords in Captiva is pretty good. That area, at certain times of year, there are a bunch on manatees and dolphins. Hard to find a parking spot during "tourist season" (on land). Cheers....
@AdventuresofHappyOurs you all need to spend the night at Caya Costa, when it warms up. Go to get a burger at Cabage Key for lunch, and spend the night at Caya Costa again. It is "perfect". When we get are new place built in the NW Cape, get our dock, and new boat; hopefully we can get together. (Our current house is between the Westin and Cape Harbor. Just rebuilt from Ian.)
BTW - The marina at the South of North Captiva used to be a great place to have lunch. We haven't been there since the hurricane. It was the last place to buy "beer" before going off shore to fish. We once traded some guys on a "shrimp boat", out there, 9 beers for 25 pounds of shrimp.
Nothing stripped. Boat is inspected upon pickup and any damages or missing electronics would have to be paid for. That being said they don’t have much. A gps and a stereo for the most part. Not even a vhf radio aboard.
would you mind sharing what a job like that pays and also how much experience as a captain you have to have to get work like that> working on getting my OUPV now
Contrary to what you may hear, captains don’t get paid much. $20-30/hr is common for small tour boat companies. Private charters or boat transport can get you more ($50-75/hr). The larger the vessel and more experience, the more money. If you can get your OUPV, you already should have many years experience working boats. As with any job, it’s more who you know than what you know.
@@AdventuresofHappyOurs Thank you for the great response, very informative. I was aware of the rough pay scale. No worries there. This is a second career for me. A semi retirement job . I have no intention of doing charters. Boat transport and maybe towing with Sea tow or Towboat, that type of work. I have some experience and have the Days at sea documented for the OUPV requirement. Just need to get the course work finished up by spring so I can take the test. Thanks again and Keep the videos coming when you can. Really enjoy them. Hey, northerners! Your weather is drunk and in our front yard... gonna need you to come and get it! Soon....please. TY
Excellent video. Love that area. Pelican Bay is definitely in my top 3 favorites of Florida.
Plan on any local trips before heading out on the loop?
Yes, my first will probably be Fort Deoto overnight and then, ten thousand island area. I will put it in at Everglades City.. Stay a few nights there.
We’ll try to get out and meet you along the way.
I'll have to check out Cape Coral Boat Rentals. Thank you for sharing!
Great video! Not sure what made this video different, but I really felt like I was along for the ride. Thanks!
Great to see the Lady Chadwick still out cruising , had a few sunset cruises on her listening to Danny Morgan..back in the day.
Thanks for letting me tag along! Happy New Year Guys!
That was super fun. Enjoyed. Thanks for bringing me along.

Congrats and welcome to the boating world! I’m sure you will have lots of fun!
Bruce and I will have our 23’ center console Hurricane at Fort DeSoto in April. Come on up for a ride !
Nice change in content. I really like the variety of the boating world in Florida. Don’t have that in Colorado!
Its still amazes me the boats and damages to houses still. Hopefully everything gets done soon.

I work at Cape Coral Boat rentals and often charter and/or deliver their boats when needed.
We’ll miss July 4th around d here as we’ll be on the east coast at that time but looking forward to Xmas parade again!
I was about to google the shoot out😂. You should do a lot of the fake trivia. People won’t know what to make of it.
I’ll try! Thanks for watching!
Ya the hurricanes rock. We used to have one with an inboard 305 .It was one fast mother.Sold it to buy our yamaha ar240

Good video. Curious though, do you need to carry your own insurance to deliver a boat? Thnx.
Boat covered under rental company insurance.
So how did you get back to Cape Coral after delivering the rental boat to Captiva?
The boss picked me up. 😁
So you deliver a boat, does the Admiral pick you up after? Just wondering
I was working for the rental company so they picked me back up. My first drive through Captiva and Sanibel.
I wonder how many of those boats have been stripped of anything usable inside of them like electronics.

@jetlag4754 are you asking about the boats that have beached from the hurricane?
Yes, I was asking about the boats that were beached.
