This was the era when I started following test cricket on the TV. Dexter, Barrington, Trueman - all boyhood heroes. And when I began playing school cricket I tried to model myself on Colin Cowdrey - with little success!

Very well edited, great narration (no glottal stops), two teams 'in transition'. Won't somebody please buy young Redpath a decent meal.

Indeed Australia was definitely in transition. Benaud, Davidson, Harvey, McDonald and McKay had all retired between 1961 and 1964.

Fascinating, I haven't seen a full match from that era before this. Excellent batting by Edrich & Burge. Wish it were a little more exciting match, since almost two & a half days were lost to rain...

Lovely to see FS Trueman in action! And those names are so familiar..not sure why Brian Statham wasn't playing.

Statham hadn't played for England since the first Test of 1963 - replaced for the rest of that series by Derek Shackleton, who I think hadn't played for England since 1950, the year of Statham's Lancashire debut. He only played one more test, against South Africa at the Oval in 1965. Age.

earlier matched were played with deep sense of nationality and the charm of 5 days lost due to one day and IPL FORMAT..THE REAL TEST OF CRICKETER IS TESTED IN 5 DAYS MATCH

Dear Sir, There is no IPL format, it is T20 format. T20 leagues are being played all over the world and not only as IPL.

Mainly grey, none too warm and fairly damp Saturday. Dexter put Truman (then in his twelfth year of Test cricket) through a fairly nominal "fitness test" before confirming his selection for the start, which probably warmed him up. Mackenzie getting Dexter early in the evening seemed to level the day. Forgot how good a batsman Veivers was. Anyone there on the last two days, of course, will remember Mackenzie and Hawke.
