Helpful video! Thanks for sharing. I received this compressor and 3 guns as a gift and have never used a compressor on my own. You've explained the basics way better than the manual! Now I'm not apprehensive about what to do first when I take it out of the box.
Used a friend's, "high dollar" compressor, but he had the bostitch, brad nailer lol. Long story short, I had so much fun, I went and bought this combo, 3 gun combo. Lol. Love it. (Cause I had to have my own!)
I usually do it for the last bit to get moisture out, but I see what your saying. It only takes 15 seconds or so to pull ring so not a big time issue though, thanks
According to the manual, it says to first bleed the tank until only 20 psi remains, and then to bleed the remaining air and moisture from the tank via the bottom valve. I wouldn't want to open that twist valve with 100+ PSI still in the tank. 😁
There are several pancake compressors in the market and seems to me are identical except for the color and decals. DeWalt, Porter Cable, Bostich, Ridgid, etc, etc seens to me are same unit and centralized manufacturing. Any light on this?
I was hoping that you would let it go to 150 PSI and how long i t takes to get there My old Iron Horse takes two minutes to get to 120. Now will this keep up if you use the blower to say clean a chain saw. My Iron Horse will not keep up and I have to wait till it builds up again.
I usually only bring it up to about 80 range for my nail guns. Any more and they go too deep. I've attached the air nozzle to blow out my garage shop after cutting alot of wood and it worked fine. Even if you use alot it will just kick on and bring the pressure up as you go.
Thanks for your reply. So you could use the blow gun to blow air (like at 70 PSI setting) as in cleaning something for say 2 or 3 minutes non stop and the compressor would be able to keep up with what you are using. My Iron horse will drop down to zero after say a minute as it can not keep up.
Yes, this will not go to zero. If I'm set at say 80psi, and from use, the psi drops, it will auto kick on to bring psi back to where you have it set. I can't say offhand how much drop before it kicks on but I want to say it's only like 20 or so. So pretty much you do not have to stop and wait for it to build up again,
@@RollingThruLife Thanks so much for that info as that is what I was hoping to find out as to whether the compressor can keep up to usage . My Iron Horse also a 6 gallon tank and boasts of 5 C'FM at 90 PSI cannot keep up even if filling in an empty car tire. Have to stop for a minute to let it build up So I was not sure if that was normal for most compressors.; I will now buy that same model you have , thanks to info you gave me
No worries, whats good is it kicks right on once it starts to drop and you can keep going, obviously it will be a lower psi(but not much) for a moment, but from my experience the kick on to refill only takes like 30 seconds. Thanks, remember I not an expert or rep, just peaking from my experience with it.
The way people are, everything has mixed reviews. 2 people can buy the same thing, 1 could last forever, the other can break down in a week.. I have had no issues, have used it to do a reclaimed wood wall, casing, base and crown moldings, a planter box. Used the 16g that came with it. For around the house stuff it's good for me.
And a car now comes with automatic windows and air conditioning (reviewing standard features)..... I'm a carpenter, I just wanted to hear how loud it is.
Well this wasn't made just for you, If it was a video and only was 1 minute to hear it, that would be more ridiculous than your comment!, "Standard features" to you maybe, but many have no clue, evident by the many comments saying thanks. And if your a real "carpenter" you would be around these all the time on job sites and know what they sound like. It is running at 4"00 mark, but hearing something on a video tells you nothing as to how loud it is, because in editing we can control video volume so you don't get a true volume anyway. Are you now seeing how your comment makes no sense yet? Or you just on of those people who goes around criticizing everything.
I think your asking what psi to set it at? It depends, for nail gun it depends on the type of wood(different woods have different hardness) but typically you will be around 60-80 psi range. It is always best to test on a scrap piece of what your using to see how nail sets.. head sticks out, turn up a little.. nail too deep-turn down.
Is it new, first time trying it? Make sure the little drain valve on the bottom edge is closed. Also you need to turn dial handle to build up/adj to where you want pressure to stop
Beginning was showing features, but From 3:00 and on I told you how it operates, I ran it, I showed how to release pressure, Not really much to it... connect your tool, turn it on, let it run, it will shut down at full pressure, Adj dial to how much pressure your tool requires, thats it!.. when done, release air, open bottom value, disconnect tool. What else would you like to know? Post a specific question and if I can answer I will, thanks
Have different Bostitch air compressor and PLASTIC pressure knob stripped after minimal use. Seems like it’s a common problem which Bostitch refuses to address. Use inferior materials/design/mechanics for part that Needs to be sturdy. Won’t EVER buy any from #Bostitch as they leave the customer high and dry for their mistakes

It took me going through about 8 worthless videos about this compressor before coming across this helpful one. Thank you!

Just bought one - thanks for the quick setup.
Your welcome.
Helpful video. I love my compressor. I just found out it works with my 21° nail gun. I have the nailersand stapler too.
Cool, thanks
Bleed the air from the bottom twist valve to purge moisture and air, you won’t have to sit there and pull the ring. 🍻

OMG was just trying to read the manual today . The manual is crap. Going to use it for the first time tomorrow. Thanks for the info Pal .

Yes basically same..Bostich is a subsidiary of Stanley Porter-Cable, which also owns DeWalt, Black and Decker, and Porter Cable.

I didn’t know that. Sounds like a monopoly. lol
is it normal for it to give out a smell with smoke. i have never used one . when i first started it ,could it be oil on motor? or is it defect?
Mine has never smelt./ smoked

cool
I've read mixed reviews on this product. I was thinking about the 3 piece combo. Do you still like yours ?

Won’t ever buy Bostitch as they use inferior materials and don’t stand behind products
Mine came refurbished with no air hose and no manual. What size air hose do I buy? Thanks!
1/4" hose is what mine came with.
Nice job, thank you very much!
Thank you too!
Thank-you very good review and simple
I just bought one of these, is it normal for the pressure relief valve to pop open while running?
no.
very good review, keep up the good work.
Great and very helpful review. Thank you
,
GLAd it helped

How long does it take to get to 150 PSI from zero at start up
I never timed it, but I would say about 45-60 seconds
What regular should we set the air?
I bought this one the same thing I didn't use yet it coming with guns.

I have the same thing like yours.
6 gal
150psi
Bostitch
SB -1850BN Brad nailer
Come with 2 guns
Thank you for explain it alot of help me. Thanks again
Thanks!
Do you need to change the oil on these?
No oil.
I have the same model but the tank pressure wont go above 60 psi even though it keeps running. Anybody have any ideas as to the problem.
Is the drain valve on the back bottom open? Can you adjust the psi at all by turning the knob?
is this compressor good for painting? like small patches
Hi, I don't know about paint guns for compressors. If they make them then I wouldnt see why it wouldnt be good, I suggest asking at lowes/H.depot
mine wont build pressure at all.
Is it new, first time trying it? Make sure the little drain valve on the bottom edge is closed. Also you need to turn dial handle to build up/adj to where you want pressure to stop
This worked for me
Other than showing me the different (obvious) features, you did not show how to use it.
