    In Iron Blooded Orphan G game, there's a scene with another MA (Harael). At first, it focus its attack on Hajiroboshi, but then we have a glorious flashback from Harael's POV showing Hajiroboshi in its original form (Marchosias) beat a crap out of 2 Harael at once. The intersting part is that Harael seems to display fear upon recognized Marchosias (the sensor on its wire arm turns off after the flashback) which doesn't make sense (but incredibly cool). Since Vistario and co only fight Harael's wire arms (plus Pluma), I guess what's going on is that after recognized Marchosias and access the old memory, it just give up to preserve the main body (which is still trapped out of sight).

      ALUS isn't entirely an AI from some of the expanded things, the old Eldorans evolved from biological to uploads to wander the universe.
      ALUS was left behind with restrictions to protect/safeguard Eldora from potential invaders...which the New People forced the situation leaving ALUS with no real choice there when combined with being left alone for who knows how long there. the epilogue and Build Divers Rize point to the El-Divers being Eldorans that got dragged into the G-Network.
      ALUS being reformed into an El-Diver shows that he's the same, meaning Cuadorn might be one as well with their connections broken when the planet was attacked and the theory that Eldora was abandoned due to being attacked and pretty much left in ruins with most forced to leave because, at the time, the planet was uninhabitable.

    Here's my head canon for why learning computers didn't catch on: The Learning Computer was one of several competing systems (for example, the EXAM) the Earth Federation was putting their focus into as an equivalent to Zeon's research into Newtypes. The idea was that the computer could help gravity-bound pilots fight in space where they were disadvantaged against the spacenoids. But once Newtypes emerged, it became obvious that these systems were not as good as the raw intuitive abilities of a Newtype and so after the war when Zeon and the Federation's top scientists merged, research moved towards 1) development of technology to enhance or unleash Newtype potential like the psycommu and eventually psycho frame, and 2) cyber Newtypes. Some side research, of course, continued into it, but it never got the focus of Newtype-oriented stuff.

    Those mobile dolls are definitely some of the most terrifying weapons ever made. You could wipe out a whole army of them and nothing would change they would have more. Then they can destroy you.
    Imagine the 00 ending where all the kamakaze units are all just mobile dolls? The world would basically end so quickly with that power. Though that scene was already scary showing how disgusting the human lives would be with kamakaze tactics
    Best one is definitely ain. Goes from ain to ai and beats both the protagonist and antagonist of the series with ease. Joke btw.

    • @AzraelThanatos
      @AzraelThanatos Год назад +6

      That depends, you also have Gundam Aquarius that would eliminate Dolls with impunity.
      Of course, if you want a nightmare scenario, skip the basic Mobile Dolls and the disaster when Wing Gundam Lucifer hijacked them, because Lucifer is a heck of a lot worse and has an upgraded version of the Zero System built into it that's based off of the command version mixed with the original type...and Lucifer was full on psychotic.

      There's a limit on how much mobile doll drones you can manufacture. And i don't think they're cheap, losing a bunch of them will surely be a setback for your military force. Besides, in mecha anime it's all about the skill of the pilots, the second episode of Getter Robot Armaggeddon is a good example of that, where Ryoma Nagare, on board of a 1st gen Getter Robot was cutting through an army of AI controlled Getter G, like an hot knife through butter, things got serious only when they combined into the Shin Dragon.

    There are some small things shown in the original MSG that were smoothed over after Sunrise returned to the Universal Century for Zeta and beyond. One of them was a Lost in Space-esque robot that could be seen working as a child caretaker in Jaburo's school/daycare. Which, if you think about it, when HARO is as sophisticated as it is - for a toy - then surely more complicated AI-driven robots existing for other societal functions would be pretty normal. However, when we get to Zeta, life in the UC is much more styled directly on 80's Japan and the technology got a more gritty aesthetic that precludes the existence of Asimov-ish robots.

    Ohhhh, okay, that really clears things up with the original RS-78-2! See, for years, I thought it was Amuro controlling the Gundam via a remote on his suit in the final battle with Char, and not the Learning Computer taking control. Pretty damn impressive too that it had learned enough to have Amuro’s skills to the point of shooting down Char’s mobile head.

    • @Supercohboy
      @Supercohboy Год назад +3

      One confusing note about that last scene with the Gundam. I believe Amuro talks about that experience (fighting Char at the end of MSG) in Zeta or ZZ or something. He talks about that moment and there's a flashback iirc, but Amuro says that he programmed the Gundam to do what it did.
      However, I think that Kakarot's interpretation of that scene has roots in canon someplace as well, I'm just not as familiar with it. Either way, the Learning Computer was mentioned even in the flashback bit that I remember seeing, and it's understood that Amuro may have quickly activated some macros before exiting the Gundam, but the Learning Computer is what timed the final shot and accurately tracked the Zeong head.

    Also, while I'm not sure about the specifics of the Crossbone series, would the Bio-Brins be considered AI? I know the ones inside the Divinidad were closer to straight up clones, but apparently the the one inside the Amakusa was created from the data stolen from Amuro's OYW Core Fighter which would suggest its an advancement of the RX-78's Learning Computer.

    "We don't know a lot about IBO's Mobile Armors."
    Yeah exactly why I never finished IBO, I always thought S2 would be about the Calamity War but then they decided to pointless current-day politicking stuff.
    IBO is like Lord of the Rings where you had this great setup and intro about the past with the One Ring and Last Alliance of Elves and Men but after movie Galadriel's narration about the ring disappearing from history and "Legend turning into myth" we got a full movie trilogy about Hobbits running for mayor or something.

      Maybe not an A.I. but more along a command sequence input. I'm sure most mobile suits are programmed to recognize certain voice inputs and react to them, but they don't learn. Those commands are just routine things they go through.

      @@andrewowens4421 iirc this was a bleeding-edge 90s tech homage that hasn't aged as well. Voice-activated technology was very popular for a while in pop sci-fi, and real-life simple voice commands were being used in a lot of tech from the 90s to the end of the 00s that either inspired anime or was inspired by it. I believe this is why we only see it used once and it doesn't have any real meaning, it's just supposed to be a cool flex like self-parking cars are nowadays.

Apparently using the system inflicts great pain to Marion which in turn would heavily affect the EXAM leading it to spontaneously activate and control the mobile suit installed with it. So it may be ai but if anything but imo it's Marion subconsciously lashing out when someone uses the EXAM system.

Too much movement and other functions to not be offloaded like balancing out firing that many satellite cannons while muti-targeting for example. What is scarier is that they modified the AI DOLL system to work in tandem with an Operator who was hooked up to a alternate helmet display version of the ZERO System. It showed the Operator a series of options via a the helmet interface to remotely control the DOLLs and it didn’t drive the human operator insane.

    Mobile Armors from IBO series are literally nightmare fuel because of their speed, strength, durability, and precision AIs, and the only way to combat them is with the 72 purpose-built gundam frames. I think it's less about other suits not being capable of doing so (a lot of the more current-date suits probably could manage it, if enough of them ganged up on the AI) the Gundams just have a far easier time of it, since they have a far more responsive control-interface and literally pack twice the energy output. Give a bunch of grunts A-V style interfaces or Hajiroboshi type AI support and they'd probably make for a very competent MA execution squad.

That being said, I don't think it was clear what all they could do and it was mainly used as a plot device it seemed.
