I got to meet Michael Phelps for swim and he taught us all a lot about how to get our butterfly better. And it really helped because i got 1st in the state for butterfly! THANKS MICHEAL PHELPS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!
I'm swimming this at a swim meet (100m fly) and I am FREAKING OUT! This really helped even though I have been swimming butterfly for about 3 years now...
Wonderful video! He is really the best swimmer of all times! Look at this performance, he is flexible like a cable! To me is so sorry because I now have closed pool in my place! I have excellent performance of butterfly!
I don't think Micheal is going to retire i feel like he will come back to it just like an army man going back to the army because he misses the memories and the thrill. Look at that form, so efficient and fast those hips work really good man just watching this video gives you an understanding of the butterfly and the sync you have to go through.
This video is great, it shows perfectly the correct timing of the kicks. It's so hard for me to get the second kick right! I always do it at the beginning of the pull, but it needs to be the last thing as your arms are coming out of the water. Okay I'll do it!
+tisstra sistra I believe I finally "felt" the butterfly stroke for the first time yesterday in the pool. I have been having an impossible time getting the second kick right, my body naturally strongly wants to kick WITH the pull instead of after. Finally yesterday I think I felt it. I kicked after the pull, and the second kick actually propelled me forward as my head was out of the water. With my head out of the water I could actually feel and see a forward thrust from my kick before I fell back in. It was really amazing. Is that what it's supposed to feel like?
I have the same problem and I don't know how to fix it. It's very annoying and I have watched soo many videos but nothing works. I learned butterfly this way since I was young and my body is just used to doing it wrong.
Everyone's style of swimming is different dude, that's why its never good to attempt to copy one's form. The point is to mold your body around what gives you more acceleration and less drag, based on your shape, strength and flexibility/movement. I guarantee you ALL of the Olympic level swimmers wouldn't swim nearly as good as they do if they were to attempt to replicate Michael's style in all four strokes. Not that anyone liked his breaststroke technique, it was his only real Achilles' heel.
He's breathing every stroke, you guys, so lay off those of us who do the same! ;-) Notice how he bends his knees more than you would expect. He practically leaps forward at an angle with that pull-kick timing. Everyone is different. We all have different physiologies.
First of all boxy. If you enter wider. You pull straight back and have a smoother rhythm. I am a flyer and the main things that pull together a stroke are hand entry dropping your head with your stroke. Never lifting your chin above the water pushing your chest down to follow and kicking with your thighs.
what does it mean: deserve? He can sell his service as an advertising platform, it doesn't matter why the people who pay him do it, they pay him because they believe that with his advertising they will sell more product. If they are right and they can sell more product because he advertises it, it means that he is part of the production system, and thus he didn't take that money from thin air, he is the reason that more products are created and sold. That means he MADE the money.
I prefer Mr. Phelps technique, 🏊🏼♂️ breathing every strokes, streamlined underwater. However each other adaptation is varieties, it depends on how you feel better 🙂
you're right. tim tebow doesn't deserve a lot of the money he makes either. It's true for 95% of pro athletes. But I'm a big fan of Tim Tebow though. He's the man.
What he earned financially was from breaking Olympic records and catching the eye of many companies, sports-related or not. The net worth of an Olympian is very loosely based on how good they are (in the case of Michael it was though), but how much attention they get. Look at Lolo jones, never even won a medal and her net worth is $1.5 million. It's all in the publicity, then the charisma and character of the person, and finally their skill.
All swimmers adn all other athletes are winners as long as they try their best!! You don't have to win even one medal at all to be good and worth anything!! Everybody has to start somewhere, adn you can't always do everything perfectly, and we all make mistakes!!
@smokycannon It doesn't really matter, for michael phelps that works best for him, it really depends if you pull enough water or not. As long as you don't pull too wide then it's fine.
5 sep 2020 12:33 pm edt(utc-4):thanks. 5 sep 2020 12:35 pm edt(utc-4): maybe only breast-stroke can be done with minimum under-water-nose-emission. minimum under-water-nose-emission make swimming-pool-water stay-clean. 5 sep 2020 12:38 pm edt(utc-4):swimming butterfly-style is like driving gasoline-guzzler-car. swimming breast-stroke is like driving gasoline-frugal-car.
and since there is only 1 Phelps, the people who want him to advertise for them have a truly limited offer. Maybe there are 100,000 companies that would like to advertise with him, but they have to bid on his time (and image, by the way, his image doesn't fit many businesses, only a small subset). So maybe there are 1000 companies that can legitimately use him for advertising, and they bid for his time. Money he makes is basically an auction on his time to sell products.
I just never get it... his style of butterfly.... He came preety high out of water, because he is breathing on every stroke, again getting VERY deep with chest, going a lot UP and DOWN, looks like working very little with hands under water and than kickin' like it's the last day of his life!!! Just don't get it, I'm a butterflyer but If I would swim like that I would swim only 50m and nothing more, than I would get tired. So respect he could swim like that and be the best in the world!

his slow motion is faster than my fast motion
Moose Olly Equal for alls.
+Moose Olly Same here :/
this comment made me spit my beer out. it's too damn true.
Maybe your brain is too slow for any kind of motion
Wow, so true!!!!
When I do butterfly, I'll probably break my school's record...for the slowest swimmer in all its years. Phelps makes it look so easy.
The most beautiful stroke to watch yet the hardest to perform because it's very very tiring!
+Poging Bagsik hardest motion in sports
Legend has it Michael Phelps can breath on land.
I'll show this to my fish.
Dilip Ganison hahaha :)
He teaches a dolphin to swim.
That explains why i need to do stretching to be more flexible. Look at his back and his legs! He's so flexible!

This video is awesome! So clear. So easy to see how he moves and it looks so amazing!

What a fucking flexibility!

+greg55666 Make sure there's no dead spot between the hand entry and the beginning of the pull. Your 2nd kick will be delayed as a result. My 2 cents.

@@greg55666 5 years later, how's your butterfly now?
@@reubenwest9283 LOL COVID. I'll tell you next winter. :)

Phelps is very flexible and is double jointed in a lot of areas. Not many people, if any, could have the range of motion he's able to have.
He's... he's a fish...
i can do that. here, hold my beer
HA! Thank you. I needed that. :)
Lol
Wanker 🤣
i do the butterfly well but he's extraordinary...technique is very important and the technique he got is exceptional
watching this video and studying his technique has helped me drop time on my 100 fly. im down to a 55
Perfection.
I love the ring of bubbles forming around him after his hands enter the water.... damn you for your beautiful technique :P
oh wow. Today is our first day of practice and we havent been in the water all year!
regularly breathing at every stroke is slower. Marc the word regularly. This is a exception. :D

Fly is amazing to watch. I try to get better every day with my swim team. Btw, joeandmom, his feet are supposed to move like that.

very helpful seeing in slow motion... thanks for posting!
The most fascinating to me is his identical movement each stroke each cycle

GREAT TECHNIQUE!!! simply awesome
michael phelps is rly born to swim ;>
very helpful to watch actually
C'est toujours aussi beau ...
he is like a fish--fins and all ---amazing!
Superb man
high quality clip. Thanks
i like how efficient he is, he doesnt take his arms all the way to the fron cuz he doesnt need to...
remember keep the knees together when doing the underwater dolphin kick. that's crucial to get more propulsion.
amazing vid,thanks,SamuraiK7
Extraordinaria la toma detallando los movimientos...útil para los que queremos mejorar la técnica...Gracias por postar..¡¡

Yall... Why i cant stop liking all of your comments🤣 so relatable:D
He can swim faster than I can run.
that is awesome
0:41 Such glee in his every whipping. He returned to the very first stage of his life, just before the moment of becoming an impregnated egg.
dude if you make it onto the olympics and even trials you're a real hot tamale !

Okay.... So it looks really cool, but that looks like the most inconvenient way to swim. Haha. :)
WOOHOO! I'M DOING THE STOKE RIGHT!
so cool when his hands crash into the water >:D
his 90 degree dolphins are incredible

I have a strong kick in butterfly, but I can't seem to get the arm movement right...Any tips?
When I do this I actually AM drowning.
