A brief history of Dodies relationship with the song "Build me up Buttercup".
Back on March 12, 2012 Dodie posted her *first video playing ukulele to the song "Build me up Buttercup".*
If you jump forward to August 20th of 2013 you will find another cover of "Build me up "Buttercup" by Dodie. But (if you watch the video) you will notice that Dodie says that she hopes she has improved from the last time and continues to play the song at its normal up-beat and happy tempo.
Now today on August 18th, 2017 you will once again find a lovely cover of "Build me up Buttercup" by Dodie but at a surprising (but still amazing) slower tempo. I find this interesting because both of the other times she sounded more cheerful (not that's she's not cheerful now) with a more mainstream feel. But this time we find a more nostalgic and sympathetic type cover of the same song.
I don't know if I just think too much into these kinds of things, but I found that interesting.

This guy (or girl) just wants to be with this other person and be happy together. But the other person barely even acknowledges that they're alive, let alone sees them in a romantic light. And despite not getting treated like we should and constantly being disappointed by the person... we keep going back to them...
Damn... I relate to this song way more than I thought I did. Usually I would hear it at bars and a bunch of drunk people would be screaming it... but it's so much deeper than all that and I never heard it that way until dodie slowed it down and really put the correct emotions behind it...
It honestly makes me look at my life and really start to recognize the relationships/friendships/potential relationship I'm in where I'm realizing that they are more important to me than I am to them...

this song is really special and important to me. when i was younger (maybe 2013) we had a family friend who cared so much about us. he had this huge ranch and lived an amazing life. he had this flower that moved and danced when you pressed it's button. every time we went there i never let it go. it was my favourite and finally he said, the net time we came over, i could take it home. i was so happy. but we never went back. he died a couple months later. i never got the flower or to say goodbye. this song makes me cry every time.

I first found out about dodie through my ex girlfriend when we first became friends. I remember singing dodie's songs to her while I worked on my homework. For her birthday I sang and played She on the guitar for her. When I broke up with her due to my anxiety and depression being too much, sick of losing soulmates came out. When I was trying to convince to not kill herself this video showed up. A slower take on the usually upbeat song. Dodie has become a special part of my life, and I'm glad to say my ex is still living, waiting for the time we meet dodie together.
Mckenzie Pittser I had a very similar experience but mine ended on worse terms. I found Dodie through her, we'd sing together while she did homework, all that stuff, but she broke up with me in November. I understand why, in all honesty I wasn't a good person. But I tried to still be there and be her friend but she just got more and more rude every time we talked so I ended up just blocking her on everything. It sucks, but I guess I wasn't meant to keep her in my life, even as a friend.
