Falcons defensive coordinator, Raheem Morris, really came out and said in an interview that they prioritized stopping Chris Carson over stopping Russel Wilson 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII2 to be fair seattle has been a run heavy team for the past couple years they were the number 1 rushing team in 2018 and number 6 in 2019 with no preseason the defensive coordinate didn't know how much Seattle were going to change up the offense
Pete’s philosophy has always been to keep the defense off the field for as long as possible with establishing the run early and then pull away at the end of the 4th quarter with play action passes. It worked when Seattle had a lock down defense; however, now that they have a weaker defense and were getting outplayed all 3 quarters they had to do what is most logical and let Russ takeover early and get a significant lead. Hoping this change is here to stay - Russ deserves an MVP
MrWATM well it’s not playing to lose. It’s more holding your cards and then showing them all at the end. But we don’t have a good enough hand on our defense anymore
We ended up in so many close games that were decided in the 4th quarter and most of the time Russ had to pull out some magic due to that old approach from Petey
One big issue with the old philosophy of time of possession and long drives was that we were routinely at the bottom of the league in three and outs. We were usually roughly top 10 in time of possession, but outside Wilson there wasn't a lot of success on a per play basis. My go to though was we've seen the Bears, Vikings, etc have decent offenses with mediocre QBs. If we had a mediocre QB they'd be injured within a week and we'd lose horribly.

He's the 2nd highest paid QB behind Mahomes as well as the 2nd rated QB at present moment. I wouldn't consider that underrated, I would consider it rated exactly right.
summertime Underrated means people don’t think he’s as good as he is or praise him for being that good. He’s the second best Qb In the league but you hear more about the 1st 3rd 4th 5th best qbs not Wilson. Wilson played great against the pats but everyone talked about cam
Feel like this also applies to Stafford. Seems like we always put him in third and longs due to outdated playcalling/game tempo. Lions have similar run/pass epa and a low 1st down passing rate to the Seahawks.
Tyler Fernandes I gotta disagree on that one. Last year, before Stafford went down, the Lions only lost one game by more than a possession and most of that was without their starting RB. They’re right on the brink of building the best Lions team we’ve seen in a very long while. It takes time to build the Belichickian-style team that Patricia wants to build, and if the Lions weren’t going to be patient with him, they shouldn’t have hired him to begin with.
It's very early in the season, but Wilson should already be considered a favorite for MVP. Others trailing begging him right now in no particular order are Allen, Rodgers, Lamar, and Mahomes. All of them are 2-0 with at least 5 TDs. This really could be another 2011 with stupid stats for multiple QBs
I think what drilled in this run-heavy offense was having Marshawn Lynch on the team. I think he covered up team weaknesses with his amazing play. That strat still worked out for them while he was there, but left behind some bad habits that didnt get punished until he left. Glad to see that they're finally turning the page from that and letting Russ shine.
Hey Brett, I’m a Seahawks fan from Nigeria who fell in love with the Seahawks in 2014. Been watching you for about 2 years now. Just wanted to say thanks for opening my mind up to so much football knowledge. # GOHAWKS
As a Seahawks fan, I got so excited to see Brett do a video actually praising the Seahawks. Usually when he covers other teams, he always shows one or two plays of that team beating the Seahawks.
We’ve known Russ to be this good for a long time. Remember in 2015 when Marshawn got hurt about halfway through the season? There was a stretch of games where Doug Baldwin had 2-3 TD catches a game, en route to posting a 14-td season. Russ was absolutely incredible taking over the offense.
Russ has been underrated for a few years now because he's been second fiddle to the run game. With this new seahawks attack, people will and are taking notice.
"Wilson is just that reliable". That sums up the analytics, the stats, and the gut feelings. On another note, I'm pretty sure Brett is Hello Fresh's favorite content creator to sponsor. It's been over 2 years lol. Also, an episode with "cook" in the title would have a food sponsorship.
Poetically, your analysis and your litmus test in facing the Pats secondary reinforce this beautiful. Because while we did get to see Russ attack a world-class secondary, we also saw the creative post-snap magic he brings in order to compensate for deficiencies elsewhere in his offense in order to manufacture opportunities.
I’m sure you’ve got plenty of ideas for future videos, but I’d love to see a deep dive on the Patriot’s new goal line offense they’ve been running, maybe a little later in the season when they’ve added more looks to the set they’ve been in. Through 2 games it looks awesome, and I’m sure Josh McDaniel’s will keep adding different looks to it to keep defenses on their heels.
Listen, this man has done things at qb that will never be replicated. I love Big Truss and I love Pat, but my dude Russ is the goat, period. If he was 6'4, this wouldn't even be up for debate, but I think that's what makes him even greater.
Would be interesting to come back to this at the end of the year I would think. Football changes when the weather gets cold and the run becomes a necessity as a second pitch
7:22 people underestimate how hard it is to throw a slant-go without the safety picking it off. Because of the fact that you need to pump and look aggressively to make the corner jump, you're giving the safety all he needs to pick it off, but if you don't, the corner won't bite. It's sort of a catch 22, but Russell has underrated eye discipline and is able to pump the corner, THEN move his eyes back to the safety to hold him back the go back AGAIN to deliver the ball to his receiver, all with great fluidity in the very thin time window allowed by the pass rush and free safety
I’m 14 and I’ve always wanted to know why Seahawks is so good at running their offense because I’m a huge Seahawks fan I even have a Seahawks bed that I watched this in and this is insane on how they do it thanks for sharing this video

@Brett Kollmann long time fan, could you please take a look at what is going with vikings offence, after this week 2 and week 1 loss i am bit clueless to what is going on, is it diggs missing, kirk not playing as 84 million QB, run game being a bit iffy or just general playing calling, i aware the O-line ins't the best, but in my opionion kirk seems to be a bit jumpy inside the pocket. i would love a indepth analyzes from you
I agree with all of this, but this week we might actually want to focus on the run game. NE lost Dont'a Hightower, Jamie Collins, AND Kyle Van Noy - they got no LBs and their secondary is fucking stacked. It isn't just Stephon Gilmore, they've got like 7 good DBs
Shotty & Russell addressed this subtly by saying, "they take what the defense gives them." If BB and Pats give them the Run, they will take it. Take the win. :)
@@davidnguyen270 yeah the Pats basically ran a 4-1-6 defense last week, if they try to pull that on us we oughtta run it down their throats. Get dat two headed Chris Carson-Carlos Hyde monster going

5:18 - The best moment of the game, and maybe eventually the season as Russ figures out a way not to get hurt by folding his legs and sliding them out from under him at full speed with a guy just about to take his head off. Watch enough games and you can see awkward situations approaching, and to the contrary of everything NFL players say, they ABSOLUTELY want to hurt each other especially when it's a guy like Russ. GG Russ.
I remember Pete Carroll saying that Russ was so good in the 4th quarter because it was opened up from the running game and that when they have tried to let Russ cook with a heavier passing scheme back in 2017 he didn’t do as good.
knowing how the season ended, as soon as Schotenheimer's play calling got predictable and Russ struggled Pete went back to Run first and the offense stalled.

i think letting russ cook is now going to lead to way more success. we used to just pound the rock and wait till late to win it close. if we can just be the fourth quarter team the whole game it’s wraps cuz now that opens up the run
Born in Washington, moved to Cali. Always a Seahawks fan
Thank you Brett
5 TD's against the Patriots to 5 different receivers!Russell is still cooking!
love the graphic designs on your merch 👌
The irony of let Russ cook this season
It’s crazy I’m not a Seahawks fan per se but I exactly remember watching that hoodie play in Woodstock’s in Santa Cruz while attending UCSC and screaming at the TV (in a good way. I root for Chargers and Eagles but truly am just a fan of good football). Got a lot of funny looks as Santa Cruz wasn’t the biggest football town haha.
More play design merch please, the seahawks game winner one looks unreal
I know right!
@Brett Kollmann long time fan, could you please take a look at what is going with vikings offence, after this week 2 and week 1 loss i am bit clueless to what is going on, is it diggs missing, kirk not playing as 84 million QB, run game being a bit iffy or just general playing calling, i aware the O-line ins't the best, but in my opionion kirk seems to be a bit jumpy inside the pocket. i would love a indepth analyzes from you
At 14:45 you asked if Russ would be able to cook vs the Pats. The answer is he cooked a 5TD meal
Can we get a follow up video with what the hell happened to Russ later in the season?
so im a pats fan and this video came up on the perfect time , love your work Brett , killing it as always .
We need to keep this offense cause this year we could be super bowl champs, Go Hawks
Russell Wilson belongs in everyone's top 5 qbs right now
HEY! This is so late for Brian to study for Sunday night. Next time give him more time, man. 😂. I have been waiting for you to do another one on Russ eagerly, after The Art of Deep Ball. Thank You!
Love the t-shirt. Hopefully this season will give you another iconic design ideas 😉👍
Now patriots are going to win thanks a lot Brett
Ikr
in your sweet pathetic dreams
Boi u know damn well Billy B was aware of this an hour after their game ended.
lol you know belichick already knew this 3 months ago
😂 this aged so well
5:18 - The best moment of the game, and maybe eventually the season as Russ figures out a way not to get hurt by folding his legs and sliding them out from under him at full speed with a guy just about to take his head off. Watch enough games and you can see awkward situations approaching, and to the contrary of everything NFL players say, they ABSOLUTELY want to hurt each other especially when it's a guy like Russ. GG Russ.
Thanks for another awesome video! You're easily the best X's and O's guy I've ever run across. Keep up the good work.
I remember Pete Carroll saying that Russ was so good in the 4th quarter because it was opened up from the running game and that when they have tried to let Russ cook with a heavier passing scheme back in 2017 he didn’t do as good.
I hope the Lion's do this with Stafford rip
Yeah that and fire their dumpster juice coach.
You let Russ cook and he burnt the food
Nah he burned the whole fucking kitchen
@@mrresnick3264 the whole stadium
@@tmcwas3717 Lmao
knowing how the season ended, as soon as Schotenheimer's play calling got predictable and Russ struggled Pete went back to Run first and the offense stalled.
One channel I make sure to have notifications on for
YOU MADE A SEAHAWKS HOODIE!!!!
Brett I love you so much.
