Looks like the format improves things. Issue was radio Id CSV file had fields for first and last name while the CPS had only 1 field for name so like the guy commented it used to push the info to the right last name became city etc. you could delete the last name column and import (no last names will show) or you could edit the csv combining first and last name into a single column called name and import that. It looks like the new firmware / cps just drops last name now when you import it as your QSO only showed the contacts first name
Thank you Ron! it is because of Bridgecom and these videos that I am able to make this radio work! Glad I bought my 878UV2 Plus from you guys! Keep up the great work!
I should get my 878 today and I'm really excited to join the DMR world. I've had D-Star for a while, and its cool, but I think DMR will open more doors.
The firmware was updated to V1.27; Cannot update the digital contact list because I have a Win10 system. I downloaded and installed the X64 driver and it showed up on the USB driver as a Virtual Com Port. Still would not work. Tried taking the USB out and plugging it back in several times with no success.I backtracked and uninstalled he driver. The Digital Contact List is in notebook form and all messed up. Maybe that's the problem? IDK.
You can open the csv file in excel and verify columns: No. Radio ID, CallSign, Name, City, State, Country, Remarks, CallType, Call Alert. An easy way to confirm is to export the existing Contacts from the CPS. To fix, I exported to a cvs file, opened in excel, temporarily renamed the columns by adding a number, inserted a column called "Name" and placed a concatenation formula for the 2 columns that had the first and last name data in them. =D2&" "&E2 . Select the resulting cell with the formula and double click the plus sign on the bottom right. That will run the formula for the entire column. Rename the columns to what they are supposed to be starting from right most. Save the file as a csv file and exit. Open the csv file in Excel again and delete the first and last name columns (I had to do it this way, otherwise Excel re-calculated the formula when I deleted the columns). Save as a csv file. From the cps, import the corrected file.
Thanks for the great videos.. Makes things a lot clearer. I do have one question however. In the video you indicate the call tone should be 1050 - 1040 - 1050 - 1310 all @ 40ms. However, when we briefly see Ron's Alert Tone Call Tone setup @ 38:10 in the video, his radio is setup with 1560 - 1040 - 1560 - 1310 all @ 40ms. When I programmed my AT-D878UVII Plus with his suggested Call Tone setup (i.e. 1050...) the radio did NOT make the same chirp. When I went back and programmed the tones written in his screen (i.e. 1560...) I did get the same tone. Which set of tones are correct?
Ron, Thanks a million for these videos. Just got my Tech license a week ago and bought a 878. I now have the contact list imported and it works great. But the info disappears as soon as the send quits sending. It looks like you did something to pull up the info from the last xmtr? How did you do that? Can the last xmtr info be kept up on the screen? Thanks again, Nick in Texas
Only thing I would add is be aware, if your radio freq set is different than the one on the software, it will not load into the radio. IE export version to Japan, Europe, and US are all different. Look at which your radio is set for. You can use Anytone Band Option program to read the radio.
Error on the Contact List format: City column is populated with Last Name, State/Prov column is populated with City, Country Column is populated with State/Prov, and Remarks Column is populated with Country.
Hi Matt! The tablet Ron used in this video is a refurbished device (it looks and works like it is brand new) we got from Amazon. At the time we purchased it a month or so ago, it was $99.98. It now appears the tablet isn't currently available on Amazon. The link to the listing on Amazon is below, we are sure there are similar options available on Amazon for a similar price. The main point was that you don't need a fancy, expensive computer to use the CPS software. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088NK7YFQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1&fbclid=IwAR2Jm0qU9VQdE52gODVIimGDPVMJhLZA7z3fgVOrNYHXkUN46he7vMPX_Ac

Thank you Bridgecom! KT5JMH
Question: After you did the Firmware Update should you have done a Total System Reset? (Reinitialize )
Hi Stephen, this wouldn't hurt. Ron didn't do it in the video and it didn't seem to matter. We will check on this. Thank you for your input!

What happens when the contact list surpasses 200k? Current global network is at 179xxx...
What about talk Groups updates?
Hi Don, I'm not sure what you're asking. The talk groups should remain.

Which tablet is that? You said it was $100?

I just put those tones in the call channel and it does not sound like what your radio is sounding like -- are you sure of the tones ?????????????
At 38:20 he's mis-reading the 1560 tones as 1050.
Listen, I'm all for ALL modes of amateur radio. But comparing this to HF at 2:50 is asinine.
USERS.CSV filesize is Zero!
is there a new place for this?
Thank you for your comment. We're not sure what you're asking. Please elaborate.
