You can definitely tell venus was always on back foot against serena through out this video shows serena was more of the aggressive one out the two forcing another aggresser player to play defense venus Exceptional court coverage and speed is what kept her in these matches just goes to show you serena can make power players play offense play if you don't make the first strike serena will dominate the court

Her ball is just so heavy that it lends itself to turning her game aggressive against others, which reminds her to be aggressive. I think when she plays Serena, she tries not to think too much and just turn to her instincts, which is defensive (to her detriment). I think what helped her win Wimbledon in 2008 was a point when Serena was ahead but forced Venus to hit a clutch volley up at net. This made it click in Venus’ head that she had to be more aggressive. Then the match turned.

I really don’t like their matchup. You can tell that Venus isn’t as aggressive as she is like when she play capriati or Davenport,for example . You don’t have to be a tennis expert to see that. Only two matches where Venus was really superior was 2008 Wimbledon and 2018 Indian Wells .
I’ve never watched a match between Serena and Venus. I know there’s nothing wrong with it, but I personally don’t like watching it because I hate to see either one of them loose and play that hard against each other.
