      I talk about the meta game and this game is a great example of that. Black upset 2 players on the first move and you can see the consequences of that

    If there's a way to win, Dandy Drew will find it.
    By the way, good luck staying low-key with the new user name and the ninety-percent win rate!
    I learn something from you every game.
    Thank you, sir!

    Love the series, I've learned a lot! Just played a placement game where I didn't have brick when a lot of brick was on the board and no one was doing trades even when I knew they had 3 bricks and I was offering multiple cards. I feel like for placement games I have to think differently than when playing normal ranked games.

    • @dandydrew
      @dandydrew  Год назад +2

      That is a viable setup. It’s not clear in the video but I spent pretty much every second calculating ideas. I liked the potential of this setup and how it plays off the radar. Either way, it’s all about outplaying the board in either setup, which we did… minus the blunder haha

    • @plaverbach
      @plaverbach Год назад

      Qould you done this play at higher levels? Because red should have blocked you

  • @MACMAMI
    @MACMAMI Год назад

    I've actually had a lot of losses starting in first position, while when starting in fourth position I win a significant chunk of them (even if I get handed fourth-position starts disproportionately by a wide margin, hahahahahaha!) 😅
    As for your setup: I'll admit I was VERY skeptical in how it would turn out being on such weak wheat and not even having access to the brick port..............but you're absolutely right: placement is just part of the game and time and time again we've seen seemingly crushing double O/W/S setups or powerfully balanced setups ultimately fizzle out because the play failed to follow suit. And I don't think your opponents played this game well in my opinion while you were able to exploit their weaknesses effectively.

    5-9-10 (Road left toward the ore port)
    4-9-11 (Road right toward the 3-11/9-2)
    All five resources. Starting wheat and brick. Can connect for Road. Eight pips of production to feed the ore port out the gate. Profit.)

    • @dandydrew
      @dandydrew  Год назад +2

      That is a great setup, no doubt about it! I am a massive fan of off the radar setups though and playing for potential. Ultimately, I think that’s the nice advantage of what we picked. Plus I like the challenge of a wacky setup sometimes.
